Big promo for a game that’s only available to those using Club Nintendo. I wish Nintendo did more weird/zany promos like this one!
Just when you think you knew everything about Nintendo... In 1966, Nintendo released the Ultra Hand, a plastic toy with extending arms that could clamp onto small objects. Over a million Ultra Hand toys were sold, representing one of Nintendo's first big hits. http://grilloff.nintendo.com/#/history/
You might be forgiven for thinking this was a joke, considering the calendar date, but no, apparently it's real. BioWare really has released $3 worth of downloadable content for the in-game Dragon Age: Origins holiday of "Feastday," which is what they call April Fool's in Ferelden. For $1.99 in real money, you can get a Feastday Prank pack or a Feastday Gift pack, consisting of 10 items each that will either decrease or increase your standing with the various characters in your party, and also provide some simple fun. Examples include a doggie cone that you can give to your Warhound, as you can see above, or an Alastair Doll that you can give to Morrigan to have her do some voodoo on your least favorite Grey Warden. No really -- this is real.
And the money you'll be giving them for this is real, too -- $1.99 (in each systems' requisite points format, of course) for either the Gifts or Pranks pack, or $3 for a Combo Pack with all of the items. On the one hand, sure, it's a bit of in-game fun for your Dragon Age characters. But on the other hand, BioWare, it's not quite as funny if you go and make your April Fool's gag, y'know, real. And then charge us for it.
A portion of a WiiLoveIt review…
Despite a small measure of flaws, the game works well for the asking price, topped with additional DLC to extend the experience. Although a majority of the ‘Family’ games may be bottom-of-the-barrel, Family Mini Golf is a surprisingly good game.
I don’t know what to make of this whole ‘Blaster Master: Destination Fred’ press release from earlier today. Obviously, there is a lot of trepidation concerning the info, as we’re still in the midst of April Fools’ Day. On top of that, it doesn’t seem like anyone out there has ever heard of [...]

This week's new PlayStation 3 releases via the PlayStation Store may not be the highlight, but new PSP games might, as should price breaks on plenty of PSN games. More »

Pac-Man imagined as a movie is a joke that predates such schtickery as Space Invaders and Asteroids getting real-life deals. This one's worth a look, with Pac presented as an unethical pharmaceutical executive subjected to ironic torture reminiscent of "Saw." More »
Bungie set the bar pretty high last year on April 1 and, today, we feel like it has at least met or exceeded it -- we'll leave the final determination up to you. As Bungie would describe Halo: Reach's included minigame, Battle Chess, it's a variation on the "longest-running competitive multiplayer game in the world" and just felt like a natural fit for the franchise. Frankly, even though it's April 1st, we wholeheartedly support this new game mode and if we don't at least get a special playlist, we're probably going to throw a tantrum and buy Halo: Reach anyway.

We're down to the final two episodes of the PlayStation Network's reality show The Tester, in which 11 people fought tooth and nail to land a job as a PlayStation game tester. Today, just four remain. What will happen? More »
CVG had a chat with Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling recently, and surprise surprise, the guy is really good at towing the company line (he'd better be, especially when he's getting confronted with Modern Warfare 2 questions even during random PAX panels about Twitter). He easily fended off questions about whether or not the Stimulus Package's two older maps are worth the $15, the ensuing competition from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and the supposed backlash from hardcore players, saying that MW2's popularity proves the company has done everything right so far.
Bowling was especially dismissive of the glitches that plagued what seemed to be most of the game's players, saying that only "like one per cent of our user base" of 25 million players "experienced those types of things and even participate in those types of things." Could have fooled us -- from our perspective, the frustration over the game's widespread cheating seemed significant. But Bowling persisted throughout the interview. According to him, Modern Warfare 2 is doing just fine, thanks.
This is not a good Double Dragon game. It may be mediocre at best, for some…but it’s not good. This is a one in a line of poor Double Dragon games, which surely lead to the franchise’s demise. Unfortunately, since we’ve taken time out to look at the good Double Dragon games, [...]
Heavy Rain's "The Taxidermist" DLC is ready to fill you up with more suspense for $5. To access your wallet, you'll have to flick your analog stick up and to the right.
PSP owners can download titles like BlazBlue Calamity Trigger and Perv Simu ... ok, fine, Dead or Alive Paradise -- we still contend we were going down the right path the first time. As is pretty common, the latest deluge of PSP comics is the real draw for the handheld.

Nintendo has recognized how big this App Store thing has become, and, as such, has decided to just play nice and offer its games to iPad users starting June 15. PlaySwitch broke the news earlier today and, as you can see above, the games barely skip a beat in the graphics department from Wii to iPad -- DS games will also be made available.
What? Oh, it's April Fools, so you think this is all a joke? Look, we understand your skepticism, but guys, this can't be a lie. It's too good to not be true, right? RIGHT?!
