This week's Virtual Console release should please fans of intense shmups, because that's exactly what Ironclad is! It's quite the example of how to make a really fun and intense shoot-em-up -- yet, many may be a bit apprehensive due to its hefty price tag. Well, that's what VC in Brief is for! Sample the game for yourself in our video above and decide if it's worth your double sawbuck.
  • Ironclad (Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 1,000 Wii Points)
Every week, we like to check out what's new on the Virtual Console. We offer VC in Brief as a sort of taste to help you decide whether or not you would want the game in question. We also toss in our own two cents because we're pushy jerks like that.

Are there gamers out there that want the original Final Fantasy translated into Latin? Well, there are at least two fans out there…and they’ve taken on this huge task. Of course, you’ll have to play via ROM to experience this translation, but something tells me that Square-Enix isn’t too worried about lost dollars [...]

This week's Nintendo Channel update features one half of 2D Boy, the indie developer responsible for the very fun World of Goo. Using WarioWare D.I.Y., he makes a neat goo-inspired mini-game. The difference between his video and Sakurai's and Sakamoto's is that Carmel makes it look way easier. Good job, Ron!

Head past the break for the full list of this week's content.

It's not an ideal representation of 3D Realms' legendary project, but leaked footage is the only format in which Duke Nukem Forever is likely to reach the outside world following the studio's legal turmoil. A new fan-made compilation video, which has been uploaded to YouTube (and embedded after the break), provides a few new glimpses at Duke's never-ended extermination road trip across America.

In addition to the video, All Games Beta also hosts some alleged screenshots of the first-person shooter -- and odd third-person truck driver, apparently.

If you happened to buy the Modern Warfare 2 "Stimulus Package" map pack immediately upon launch, you got problems first, and maps later. To get over the complications caused by your attempted Mapathy treatment, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced that day-one buyers of the map pack will receive a free week of Gold Xbox Live membership. "Check your Live messages," according to Major Nelson, for notice of the reward.

Even if every single person who ever bought the Stimulus Package already has a Gold membership, now you have it for a week longer! And for nothing but a minor inconvenience.

The PlayStation Store is continuing to expand its offering of game soundtracks. In addition to the recently released Heavy Rain soundtrack, the PlayStation Store will update with the soundtrack to Flower this week. Best of all, it's a steal -- $2.99/€1.99/£1.59.

A key aspect of Flower's allure was it's interactivity, something that this pre-recorded soundtrack won't be able to offer. We do have a helpful alternative, though. Download the OST to your MP3 player, and then just start running through your neighbor's garden, ripping all the flower pedals you see. It'll feel just like the game.
