Further, a Capcom representative told us, "We're not necessarily hyping the number of characters with MvC3, we're hyping quality. These aren't just sprites you can plug into the game. This is a full, disc-based release with gorgeous 3D models powered by the latest version of MT Framework. At this point, there are roughly 30 characters in the game, but that number will increase. You can rest assured that Niitsuma-san and his team will be working hard to include as many characters as possible before the game hits next year."

Original Story: There have been rumors swirling around about a sequel to Capcom's superhero-flavored fighter Marvel vs Capcom 2 pretty much since the game arrived 10 years ago. And given Capcom's recent success with a Street Fighter revival -- not to mention the sales rampage of MvC2 on XBLA and PSN -- the sequel rumor mill has once again begun turning furiously. This week's press-only Captivate event in Hawaii, held yearly by the Japanese publisher, is said to have showcased just such a sequel in Marvel vs Capcom 3 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, claims PlanetXbox360. At the same event, a sequel to Bionic Commando: Rearmed is alleged to have been announced, though no details were provided in the post.

According to the report, MvC3 will receive a retail release "later this year or early 2011" and will run in "full 1080p." Allegedly, while the full character list is unknown, some have been confirmed. "Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm, and a few others will be back; but the team behind MvC3 have said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes," alleges PlanetXbox360. The rumored sequel is said to be a nontraditional 2D fighter, which suggests that it could feature 3D elements, as seen in Street Fighter IV. PlanetXbox360 claims we'll hear more about the title next week and that the game will be playable at E3 this June. When reached for comment, Capcom told Joystiq, "We don't comment on speculation and rumors."

We've seen a plethora of new characters, read about tweaks to existing characters and have been given a small taste of what's to come from the revamped online system. The diagram on the site offers some insight into why Nintendo thinks this is important: it depicts a person moving from the "living room" occupied by a child to a "private room," presumably so he or she could play Zangeki no Regenleiv or Monster Hunter or something in an environment safe for adult-style games.

In other words, It's for the children. Nintendo manufactured this new demand for redundant accessories for the children.

Download in HD from Big Download Chuck Greene may know his "way around a zombie or two," as he says in this new trailer from Dead Rising 2, but he'll be facing down thousands at a time in Fortune City. Greene's daughter Katey will also be along for the ride -- she's bitten by one of the walking dead early on, and will require a daily dose of a drug called "Zombrex" during the game's 72-hour span "to stop [her] from joining the ever-growing zombie horde." Greene also comes across two supporting ladies -- one is a short-haired army jacket-wearing girl who goes on about conspiracies and "false accusations," and the other is a bombastic reporter who brings new meaning to the word "teaser."

Capcom has also announced details of the game's online co-op system. Players will be able to use an "in-game transceiver to call for assistance at any time," and when your buddy shows up, it's game on for tactics like luring zombies into a kill zone or racing around on skateboards (no really -- check the gallery below). That's in addition to the "Terror is Reality" minigame versus mode that we got to play a little while ago, which will pit up to four players against each other in a game show setting.

Dead Rising 2 will be out for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in North America on August 31, and in Japan and Europe a few short, zombie-free days later.

We may have had clues about a localized version of Okamiden, but that doesn't mean we aren't thrilled to see it officially announced. Capcom's DS sequel to Okami will be available for Nintendo DS in North America sometime in 2011. The trailer above relates the story, in which a very cute wolf god named Chibiterasu teams up with a new cast of characters to restore color to the world once again. Of course, the Celestial Brush item is back, allowing you to paint directly onto the world with the DS stylus. After the break, you can see some gameplay footage.

Also after the break are new trailers and screens for Ghost Trick on DS (now Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective) and Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes for Wii and PS3. Ghost Trick, an intriguing puzzle adventure about a dead man possessing the environment to solve his own murder and prevent others, has been given a winter 2010 date. Sengoku Basara, known in Japan as the latest game in the action series that spawned a popular anime and a Japanese history craze (and known in America, to a few people with good memories, as the latest sequel to Devil Kings) is currently classified as "TBD 2010."

Rumored over the weekend to have been revealed at Captivate 2010, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 is now official. The game is slated to once again hit Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in Q1 2011 -- no PC version has been announced. While fans might have hoped development would be helmed by Might & Delight, the studio formed by the ex-Grin staffers responsible for the original Rearmed, the task's been handed to Fatshark, the studio behind Lead & Gold.

The sequel sees Nathan Spencer return, this time fighting the presumably evil General Sabio, "a new technologically sophisticated foe," who is "on the brink of launching a deadly missile attack." Rearmed 2 also promises new weapons, two-player co-op (no word if it's online this time) and new tunes from the same composers who created the brilliant soundtrack for the original Rearmed.

Of course, none of that is important because, as the debut trailer makes quite clear, Nathan has learned how to jump.
