Hi Everyone – I’m excited to show everyone the new MLB.TV application for the PS3 that will be available from PlayStation Network, in both U.S. and Canada, later today. This app allows MLB.TV subscribers to watch every regular season game live in HD (local blackout restrictions do apply), with tons of new interactive features designed exclusively for PSN.

Some of the unique interactive features that we show in the demo include:

  • MLB Scoreboard – See a schedule of today’s games (and set options to control whether or not you see the scores)
  • Home and Away Feeds – Choose to watch either the home or away broadcast feed
  • HD quality video and DVR functionality – watch a live game in HD (with Live Game DVR functionality that lets you pause and rewind live games of fast-forward back to live game action)
  • Season Archive – Want to re-live a great moment? Go back and watch games you’ve missed from earlier in the season.
  • Scrollable Linescore – Go directly to any half-inning to watch only that portion of the game.
  • Favorite Teams/Calendar Schedule – Scroll through the entire 2010 Major League Baseball schedule in calendar format or designate your favorite team(s) to see the schedule for that team.

You can now download the app from the “Media” category on PlayStation Store, and launch it from the Video section of the XMB.

You must be an MLB.TV subscriber to fully utilize this app (some features, such as the calendar schedule, are available to everyone for free). There are two annual packages: MLB.TV is $99.95 and MLB.TV Premium is $119.95. If you aren’t already a MLB.TV subscriber. The site to sign up will go live later today. Once you’ve subscribed, link your MLB.TV subscription to a PS3 (via the app), and enjoy the season!

This is truly the ultimate baseball viewing experience from MLB.TV and PlayStation Network. Enjoy!

When you play Trauma Team, you'll have the opportunity to do so as a ... team. A new trailer for the medical adventure game (after the break) demonstrates co-op multiplayer in the Surgery, First Response, Orthopedics, and Endoscopy modes.

Most of the multiplayer action involves alternating control of procedures between players, though the Surgery mode makes mention of splitting up surgical tools between players, and First Response's co-op requires players to assign patients from a group to each player. There's a sort of "combo meter" that rewards unbroken chains of successful steps performed by both players. In addition, the inactive player in the Endoscopy mode directs light for the active player.

Now you have to determine whether you have any friendships strong enough to stand the test of performing endoscopy together.

Click to enlarge, punk Fans of steampunk fantasy don't have many choices when it comes to video games which adhere to their beloved genre. Right now, it basically boils down to Arcanum, Penny Arcade Adventures and ... Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts? Maybe? However, German developer Spellbound Entertainment recently announced a new entry into the category: Ravensdale, a "fast paced fantasy action game in a very unique 'steam powered' setting featuring cool and outrageously over-powered gadgetry."

The game, which is expected to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, is targeted for a 2012 launch. For now, all we've got to sate our curiosity are two pieces of concept art, posted in the gallery below. Make sure you take your time while analyzing them -- you've got about two years to kill.

click for more pictures to meet the eyeIn Transformers: War for Cybertron's multiplayer mode, you can make your own characters, with cool Transformer names like, uh, Robot ... guy, and Metal ... punching ... bot. We're not good at naming Transformers, apparently.

But the single-player game is full of classic characters reinterpreted for their pre-Earth, pre-Earth-technology appearances. The latest characters to be revealed for the game are Autobot Ironhide, who is best known for transforming into a truck and being old, and Decepticon Skywarp, a jet who could teleport in the classic Transformers series, and now has cloaking technology instead. That makes more sense, actually -- why would you need to transform into a jet if you could teleport?

Both characters will be playable in the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of War for Cybertron, out June 22.

There's a whole gang of playable content to get excited about in this week's European PSN update, such as Lead and Gold, After Burner Climax, the Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo and UNO on the PSP. However, we'd make a strong case that the highlight of this most recent batch of additions isn't playable at all. We're speaking, of course, of the Sonic The Hedgehog comic from Archie Comics. Think we're joking? Look, right there, on the cover: "The World's Most Way Past Cool Comic!" How can you say no to that?

In addition to a standard edition (which includes the best part: the game), a $79.99 Limited Edition will be sold in special ONI "black box" packaging, along with an exclusive in-game Elite armor set for multiplayer and an "artifact bag" containing "Dr. Halsey's personal journal and other classified documents and effects that unravel long held secrets from the Halo universe."

Meanwhile, the $149.99 Legendary Edition will come in UNSC packaging and contain everything found in the Limited Edition, plus a hand-painted, numbered statue of Noble Team (crafted by McFarlane Toys) and an "exclusive multiplayer Spartan armor effect." That effect, incidentally: flaming helmet. You can peruse the contents of each edition -- including screens of the Elite armor and flaming helmet -- in the gallery below.

Last September, Sega promised to clue the world into its plans for Project Natal and PlayStation Move in early 2010. Actually, back then, we were still calling it the PlayStation Motion Controller. Oh, so young and naive! Now that we and Sega are both a few months older and wiser, the latter's plans have been pushed back a bit -- in a recent interview with IndustryGamers, Sega West president Mike Hayes explained that the company's Natal and Move plans would be revealed at E3 2010.

Though we haven't heard much about Sega's feelings on the upcoming wave of new motion control technology, Hayes explained the company is excited about "the fact that Move and Natal will bring in more of what I'd call the PS2 type of consumer for those platforms, which then suits very much the IP that Sega has." We've hypothesized that the PS2 IP he's referring to is the already motion-infused Sega Super Stars (pictured above) -- in our heart of hearts, though, we're secretly hoping for a motion-controlled Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future.

Hi Everyone!

Today we’re super pumped to announce that our first PlayStation Mini, Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess!, goes live today on the PlayStation Store!

4538000367_f34228d686.jpg

For those who aren’t familiar with the game, here’s a short summary.

Monsters have (probably) stolen your princess! Those fiendish and misshapen fools have (as far as we know) made off with your true love — and they haven’t even had the good grace to leave a shred of evidence to follow. Only sweeping accusations and devastating style can save her from the fate she will (possibly) face now!

Available exclusively from the PlayStation Store, MPSMP comes with a full story mode, six unique stages, awesome animated cutscenes and an incredible soundtrack the Duke himself would approve of. With 24 levels of monster pounding justice, this is (probably) the best deal ever.

Check out the trailer to see the game in action:

The game is available on both PS3 and PSP worldwide for the price of $4.99, so you can head to the store and grab it today! Be sure to let us know your best level scores: can anyone beat 2,300 on the first story mode level?

Thanks for all the great feedback and support! We’ve had an awesome time making the game. We’ve written a bit more about it on our blog here.

According to a Gamespot report, a retailer website slip-up may have outed "James Bond: Bloodstone" as the title for the long-awaited "racing and driving focused" 007 game from Bizarre Creations. HMV reportedly posted a listing for a game with that title (though it's nowhere to be found now) in the "driving and racing" category. It was also tagged for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.

With the next Bond film currently on hold, it's up to Activision to keep the spy in active duty. But just how much blood can you squeeze from a stone cold killer?

Previously available only as a gift from Capcom or embedded inside blocks of ice, the Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo is now accessible to all on Xbox Live Gold subscribers (it is multiplayer demo, after all). The demo allows up to 16 players to go at it on the game's Turbulent Jungle map. Two different game modes are available: Elimination and Post Grab, both of which were also seen in the original Lost Planet.

Lost Planet 2's multiplayer showed promise when we took it for a spin last month, so be sure to give the demo a try. And don't forget, grabbing the demo goes toward a good cause.

Hello PlayStation Blog! Beginning with today’s PlayStation Store Update, the Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Demo will be available on PSN. Get together with up to 16 players, grab some weapons, jump in a vital suit and compete in Elimination, Team Elimination, or Data post Grab modes. This is just a sample of the various modes and ten maps you’ll be able to play when the full game ships on May 11.

But wait, there is more! Downloading the demo does more than just let you get a first taste at Lost Planet 2. Capcom has started an exciting charity campaign called, “Kill Big for Charity”. We are partnering with Music for Relief, a non-profit organization dedicated to disaster relief and disaster risk mitigation, to contribute $20,000 to charity if one million demos are downloaded across both PSN and XBL before May 5, 2010. An additional $5,000 will be added to the pot if an extra 500,000 demo downloads can be achieved.

To celebrate the launch of Lost Planet 2, we will be throwing a tournament on May 6 in Los Angeles. Select members of our community, Capcom Unity, will compete in the tournament with celebrities and press members. For information and how to enter, visit the details page on Capcom Unity.

The winning team in the tournament will choose which Music for Relief program will receive the donation. Help us achieve our goal by downloading the demo and spreading the word to your friends today!

The online world of Uncharted 2 is getting one of its biggest updates ever this week. Title Update 1.07 went live yesterday, fixing a few glitches and exploits, while addressing unbalanced spawn points. Later today, the Siege Expansion Pack will be available for purchase, adding "two new maps, six new multiplayer skins, one new co-op game type and 11 new online-only Trophies." You'll be able to buy it on the PlayStation Store for $5.99.

Naughty Dog isn't quite done with the multiplayer festivities, though. In addition to the new DLC and update, all multiplayer participants can enjoy Double Cash bonuses all weekend. That means players -- newcomers and veterans alike -- will be able to rise up the online ranks twice as fast. If you haven't played online recently (or at all), this is certainly one of the best opportunities we can think of to start.

According to a report in the New York Times, Sony will announce today that PS3 users will gain access to live streams of Major League Baseball games. By week's end the console will enable subscriptions to the MLB.TV service, which provides access to out-of-market contests, but not local games or others that are broadcast on TV.

The NYT doesn't have the scoop on pricing, but a web subscription to the service will run you between $100 and $120 annually, or $20 to $25 per month, depending on the features. Count on more details when the official announcement drops. Sony has been considering new subscription services for PSN since the end of last year.

[Thanks, Ryan G.]
