Thank goodness for the latest trailer for Sega's Iron Man 2 -- we're not sure we'd be able to wrap our minds around the game's complex plot without the helpful backstory in the video, which we've posted after the jump.

Stick with us, here: Iron Man and his best friend War Machine have to fight robots belonging to another mega-corporation, which was commissioned by a Russian general for undoubtedly nefarious purposes. Also, a very convincing Samuel L. Jackson impersonator is there, and he's on a flying boat.

Do you understand, now? What? You do? Great. Could you explain it to us?

If you're anything like us, you woke up this morning hoping for a brand-new, Unreal Engine 3-based, free-to-play shooter from South Korea to be announced. And alas, Alliance of Valiant Arms developer Reduck has satisfied just that need in announcing "Metro Conflict: Presto" by way of a joint press release with Epic Games Korea.

We only note the collaborative nature of the press release because of the total lovefest that ensues around three paragraphs in. "Epic's Unreal Engine 3 was a big factor in our success with A.V.A. [and] we're looking forward to pushing ourselves even further with Metro Conflict: Presto," Do-Min, Ok, chief technology officer at Redduck, said of the deal. Epic Games Korea's Ray Park similarly offered, "We're thrilled that they're using Unreal Engine 3 again for Metro Conflict: Presto, and can't wait to see what they're able to do with it this time." And he'll see soon enough, as the free-to-play FPS is planned to go into open beta this December. But for now, we've got the dramatic teaser trailer for you just above.

Gears of War 3 is only a year away so it's, like, totally imperative to brush up on the story thus far. IGN has compiled a little video feature that compresses all the twists and turns of Gears' epic story into five minutes. Obviously, the recap is full of spoilers, so it's probably best not to watch it unless you've played the first two games.

Haven't played the first two Gears yet? Well, it's possible to pick up both for $50 or less. They're good games, we promise -- and there's still plenty of time to casually grind through them before the sequel emerges. For those who just want the quick recap fix, that's available after the break.

Sega is releasing 90s arcade light gun titles Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns on the Wii sometime this summer in an "Arcade Hits Pack." The bundle, revealed by the ESRB a couple weeks back, contains new features for the games like a "Chain Combo System" and "Unlockable Weapon Toggle," which uses game ranking to unlock extra weapons.

Of course, because these titles were released in arcades during the 90s, they lack something we find essential in Sega light gun games now: profuse swearing. For that, we recommend the underappreciated House of the Dead: Overkill, available for $20. Yeah, a light gun game just isn't the same anymore without copious f-bombs.

We work in a profession which has us coming into contact with an inexplicably large number of fake armaments, so we feel like we can speak with some authority when we say that the foam sword seen above is the coolest foam sword ever. How can you go about acquiring one of these ultra-rare, pixelated beauties? All you have to do is make something using this simplified, online version of 3D Dot Game Heroes' character creation engine, and you could win the non-lethal blade and a copy of the game.

You have until May 11 to whip up a blocky hero and submit a picture of it to SouthPeak (the European publisher of the title) for consideration. Sadly, the contest is only open to our European allies, though the character creator is available to everyone. We demand equality on both sides of the Atlantic! Everyone should have a stab at winning these squishy sabers!

"I'll poke out your eyes," Cammy sneered menacingly.
Last Friday, Capcom partnered with i am 8-bit to bring Capcom Fight Club to Los Angeles to support this week's launch of Super Street Fighter IV, and we'll never stop being amazed by the number of people who enjoy dressing up in costume for video game launches. Our amazement usually reaches a fever pitch when there's an eerily accurate Dhalsim in the mix. We're surprised The CW hasn't snapped up the rights for this game to bring us Street Fighter: The High School Years.

Unfortunately - and because people don't universally adhere to the number one rule laid down at PAX - i am 8-bit had a ton of equipment stolen ... including all of their footage from the event. But what did survive was their old school Polaroid camera, and this stack of portraits. Check out the exclusive images in the gallery below while trying to contain your excitement over the wonders of spandex.

The Virtual Console and DSiWare are stuffed full of games this week in Japan! The Virtual Console has the first Metal Max Famicom game (a series that eventually led to Metal Saga on PS2, with a DS sequel upcoming), as well as two Neo Geo fighting games. The bizarre Waku Waku 7 from Sunsoft stars robot tanks, Totoro-esque creatures, and even a sentient punching bag! There's even an ancient Dig Dug-style arcade game. WiiWare's World Game Parade finishes with Katamuki Spirits, a localized version of Equilibrio.

DSiWare features a game in which you compose songs to be played by a band of cartoon monkeys, with synthesized instruments and vocals! Also available: a drawing program about doodling on your photos, a platformer with 10-second levels, and, of course, Hudson's Shooting Watch app, which tests the number of button presses you can perform in a second.
  • Metal Max (Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
  • Samurai Shodown III (Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points)
  • Waku Waku 7 (Neo Geo, 1--2 players, 900 Wii Points)
  • Mr. Do! (Arcade, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • Katamuki Spirits (WiiWare, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points)
