We've been patiently waiting for our turn to take Little Red Riding Hood (or Momotaro) on a zombie massacre, having seen Zombie Panic in Wonderland hit WiiWare in Europe and Japan already. Developer Akaoni Studio announced today that the North American release date for the undead shooting gallery is this coming Monday, May 3.

We were already intrigued by the WiiWare title due to its similarity (and shared development staff) with the DS's Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ, but we became even more intrigued when we read this description of the premise: "To save his friends from the spell of the 'amorous zombies,' machine gun in hand, [Momotaro] will have to solve the mystery of the 'scented dwarves' in time and put an end to the evil power hidden in the castle in the northern city ..." That's right -- amorous zombies and scented dwarves.

Apparently EA's Project Ten Dollar has had an influence on other publishers, as Microsoft announced that new purchases of Alan Wake will come with a "token code card" allowing for the free download of the add-on to the game (said to be coming "later this year"). The "Bright Falls Bonus Pack" was also detailed, with participating retailers divvying out "Avatar gear like the 'I Am Awake' T-shirt and an Xbox LIVE 'Bright Falls' theme based on the game" to those of you who pre-order (the Avatar shirt and Dashboard theme also come with the Limited Collector's Edition).

And yeah, in fairness, Alan Wake isn't the first MGS-published title to get an incentivized new purchase plan (Gears of War 2 says hello), but it's certainly been some time since we last saw Microsoft employ the business model. No price has been set or release date given for the first bit of content, but we'll assuredly find out soon enough, as Alan Wake is set to arrive at retail in just a few more weeks on May 18.

Is there any other fighting game character as deceptive as Kirby? I mean, look at the guy! Who woudl ever think that this cream puff could rain down destruction upon its enemies? It just goes to show that you shouldn’t judge a book by its fluffy, pink cover!

If you're in the UK and are having a hard time getting a handle on the upcoming general election, perhaps seeing how the three party leaders perform as blocky, giant-sword-wielding heroes will help your decision-making. SouthPeak has added downloadable 3D Dot Game Heroes characters based on party leaders Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg. (Perhaps Southpeak is semi-overtly referring to the UK's top politicians as blockheads?)

The downloadable politicians are accessible from the "Vault" section of the 3D Dot Game Heroes EU website, which is also home to the web-based character editor. For those of you outside of the UK, there are three new "Guy in a Suit" characters on the site.

3D Dot Game Heroes will be released in Europe on May 14 and in North America on May 11.

The latest Singularity trailer --- with no actual gameplay -- totally makes us wish we had one of these timey-wimey continuum-altery devices at parties. It'd be so handy for recovering spilled drinks.

Also, we'd use it to keep our dogs in perpetual states of puppydom. Hmm, come to think of it, that device would be super convenient. Somebody should make one for real -- what could be the harm?

The first gameplay footage we've seen of Sega's upcoming Wii-exclusive fighter Tournament of Legends is bathed in the game's mixed mythology. Showcasing two fighters -- Bravehoof, defender of nature and Marcus Antonius, beloved hero of Rome -- the trailer heavily emphasizes a story that pits man versus beast.

Tournament of Legends hits stores on July 8, at a budget price of $29.99. Not a bad price to pay to toss some magic and swing some weapons at a minotaur, gladiator, Valkyrie and Gorgon.

So you've managed to block out the siren song of Trials HD this long, have you? You're stronger than us -- but it might be time to give in. The game has been discounted today by 33 percent to 800 ($10) for a one-day sale. Can you really say "no, thank you" to that? It was voted 2009's best XBLA game, after all (and won the Best Nordic Game award at the 2010 conference just last night).

Look at it this way: Your Microsoft Points could very well go to helping out the workers behind the scenes. That's right -- we're talking about the guys who sneak into the factory at night and set up these wicked elaborate stunt tracks. They have an extremely dangerous job, you know.

#guesteditorial The film critic Roger Ebert's recent comments about video games and their potential as art, and especially the immense stir the comments caused on discussion forums all over the internet, shows the intrinsic interest there is in the question of whether video games are art. Of course, many people see the debate as entirely pointless, and there is the separate question of why we should want to establish that video games are art. More »

Capcom has revealed that the Mega Man Zero Collection for DS will hit its projected "early summer" release, despite its delay in Japan. Specifically, the publisher announced that the compilation of four Game Boy Advance side-scrollers will arrive in North America on June 8 for $30. That's just $7.50 per Zero! Additionally, a new trailer can be seen above, and the (lovely) box art has been added to our gallery.

New features in the collection include customizable controls, an art gallery functionality (which displays art on the bottom screen and the game on the top screen, so you can look while you play), and a new "Easy Scenario" mode to help new players get through these difficult games.
