You’re not going to be able to play Sonic Classic Collection on your DSi or DSi XL, unless you have a system from the same region that the game is from. In this instance, EB Games Australia has gotten some North American copies of the games, and slapped an appropriate rating on the front. [...]

Outside of a UK game retailer listing a handful of details about this November's Treyarch-developed Call of Duty: Black Ops, all we've been given so far in terms of solid information on the game is a trailer with a slurry of quick cuts and some muffled dialog. Thankfully, GT Pop-Block has taken apart said trailer piece by piece, highlighting several standout points. What we found most interesting was that, rather than an astronaut seen briefly near the end, it's actually an SR-71 pilot in a full pressure suit, just before heading into sub-orbit (Pop-Block believes this could be a recon mission).

Additionally, as you might have already suspected, various elements in the trailer heavily suggest Vietnam and Cold War themes -- an intercontinental ballistic missile launch, possible Vietcong troops, scientists vacating an exploding Russian complex, and the presence of a UH-1A Huey helicopter (first used in 1962 during the Vietnam War). Oh, and hey, that dude you see above? Yeah, he's probably pretty important to the story. He also totally gets to fly a helicopter, which seems to be player-controlled. See for yourself after the break.

In a commercial for a skateboarding game, you might think that the folks featured wouldn't draw aesthetic inspiration from warring factions in a Tolkien story, but that's exactly what Skate 3's first TV advert brought to our minds this morning. Sure, there's a bit of gameplay video thrown in, but most of it centers on the much talked about online friend system by way of uniting skateboarders, apparently under an umbrella of brutality.

With a demo already available and the game's May 11 release date fast approaching, we're not sure you need much more to get you on board for Skate 3, but we'd suggest checking out the commercial just to see what happens at the end. Now you have to watch! Ha!

Man, I really miss the attention of detail that used to go into game art, and even game packaging and promos. It doesn’t seem to be as fancy anymore. Sure, some of it was really cheesy back in the day, but it was still finely crafted. A lot of this game art [...]

WarioWare The WarioWare series is one of the most screwed-up franchises in all of gaming. It’s chock-full of games that are absolutely bizarre, and you can barely focus on your task at hand before the game is up. Seriously, a 5 second game with concepts that are ridiculously weird, and a rapid pace that [...]

Zynga employee and newly engaged dude Anders Howard sent us an email recently, explaining that he had just proposed to his girlfriend "via a video game I built with friends in my spare time." The video that he sent along of the whole thing going down -- not to mention the game itself, appropriately named Dinner Love and the Quest for Soup, which he's put up for all to play online -- immediately convinced us that we absolutely had to share his story with you.

After the break, we've embedded Mr. Howard's neo-Shakespearian successful attempt at betrothal. If you don't go all "awwwwww" about it, well, you can always take a look at Ilomilo again, we suppose. If that doesn't do it either, you should probably get that gaping hole in your chest filled with a heart.

[Thanks and congrats to Anders Howard!]

This PitGirl doll is possibly the most scantily clad swag we've ever received -- and it can be yours! This figurine recreates one of the stars of the upcoming XBLA exclusive Monday Night Combat. The PitGirl is "fast, athletic, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of each athlete's abilities." She is also "unbelievably perky," if that wasn't quite evident by her outfit.
