Yard sales are great for two things: laughing at the ridiculous stuff some people find and bargain-priced electronics from yesteryear. In this day and age, if you come upon a yard sale that isn't trying to unload at least one Game Boy, then those people probably weren't really into portable gaming. No, really -- those people exist!

We tell you this because we have a great idea should you ever come across a Game Boy at one of these slices of Americana: the Tron Boy. The pictured mod by Thretris was created to celebrate the release of 8 Bit Weapon's Tron chiptune album (ZIP file link) and does a good job of plucking our heartstrings on two distinct fronts. It makes us pine for those days of playing Tetris on the bus to school and the first time we saw Jeff Bridges kicking some ass with a disc. Those were the days.

... great, now we have a hankerin' to play some Tetris. Thanks, Thretris!

In the run up to Super Mario Galaxy 2's big launch later this month, Nintendo has been releasing a steady stream of nostalgia-caked media on the game. And while we don't tell you about each and every one (there's a handful of trailers right here, for instance), we do try and point out the ones that are particularly enticing. For instance, today's trailer features the once-again-playable Luigi as he gets in on some Power Star collecting action himself.

It's not clear whether if the other Mr. Mario is playable from the get-go -- in the first Super Mario Galaxy, Luigi only became playable after collecting all 120 stars -- but he will clearly be a character that players can control. See Mario's partner in time don an adorable bee suit in the gallery below and check out the new trailer just above.

In a Gamasutra interview, Prope founder and former Sonic Team head Yuji Naka mentioned that his new company is at work on a new action game -- but not the "game like Sonic" on which the studio was once working. "Unfortunately, we had to stop development for the time being for the 'Sonic-like platform game,'" Naka said. "However, we are in the process of developing another action game right now."

As for the company's latest game, the DS- and Wii-bound Ivy the Kiwi?, it came from an experiment by some Prope staffers. "I really felt some great potential in the concept as a game so we decided to make it as a company project and it evolved into Ivy the Kiwi." The project was first released on Windows Phone in Japan, Naka explains, because its touch screen was more stylus-friendly than the iPhone's. "However, Windows phones now have electrostatic type touch panels too and users ended up playing Ivy with their fingers anyways, so maybe we should release it on iPhone as well."

Have you been hoping for a more specific release date for Natsume's Witch's Wish? Your hypothetical wish is granted! The publisher announced that the cute, magical adventure game has gone gold, with a release planned "toward the end of May" (we did say "more specific," and not "exact").

In Witch's Wish, a young student witch named Vicky uses her magic, accessed by drawing runes on the DS touch screen, to help the citizens of her magical town, take part in magical duels, and combat a mysterious "dark force." Whether or not this is the game for you, you probably agree that it's nice for Natsume to get away from Harvest Moon occasionally.

A portion of an N-Sider review… It’s only $20 and will last you a handful of hours even if you just breeze through the main story; it’s good, lighthearted rhythm fare that—even though it can be a touch rough in places—makes for a pretty fun little game.

Two very different games on Xbox Live Arcade this week, folks. First up, we have RayStorm HD a revamp of the classic arcade, PlayStation and Saturn shooter of yore. If you've played a shmup before, you'll be right at home. The other game, however, is an odd, odd duck. Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition is a first-person brawler with shooting elements and one of the most bizarre, surreal art styles on XBLA. If nothing else, you should download it just to see it.

Watch the latest XBLA in Brief and see if either game deserves your hard-earned 1200 ($15).

We knew that the exclusive Lost Planet 2 pre-order bonus maps from GameStop would be publicly available eventually, but this is just silly. A sharp-eyed tipster has revealed that the Lost Planet 2 "Map Pack #1" is actually already available on Xbox Live Marketplace. That's particularly noteworthy considering the game's retail release is still a week away. We're guessing someone flipped the "release maps" lever a little too early, and chances are the map pack will soon vanish into the ether once more.

For what it's worth, the pack is currently priced at 400 ($5). We suppose you could be sneaky and buy it early, but if you really wanted the maps you've probably pre-ordered already, right?

Diesel now has an "apparel collection" available for Avatars through the Xbox Live Marketplace. The designs are based on the company's spring/summer 2010 collection, with t-shirts costing 80 ($1) and a pair of jeans for 160 ($2). Diesel plans to update the collection every season so that, in the company's words, "now, more than ever, you have the ability to dress your Avatars according to your personal style and taste."

Now, let's play a game: The Avatar in the back, second from the left is wearing "Viker 8A7" jeans. If you think paying $2 for some pre-cut jeans on your Avatar is silly, take a guess how much those jeans cost in real life? (See the answer after the break.)
