Nick Hagman knows how to use his feet for a most unconventional purpose: completing games using a Dance Dance Revolution pad. He's done it before with Castlevania, and now he's used his talent to finish another classic, the original Super Mario Bros.
It took Hagman 14 attempts and plenty of practice to complete the classic. The 11-minute video documenting the feat can be found after the break, with certain sections sped up for sanity's sake. Now Hagman wants to know which game he should finish with his feet next: DuckTales or Mega Man 2?

This Sunday I facetiously suggested that an Activision game tester had claimed the world record fastest time for eating a horrible meat sandwich called the Double Down. Disney Interactive Studios wants it known they have just obliterated the mark. More »
That damn Kirby Wii game is still on there, but titles such as Cosmic Walker completely disappear. I swear, Nintendo makes absolutely no sense. At least the 3DS and Zelda Wii are mentioned. Those are two things that Nintendo won’t let mysteriously disappear!
I can’t believe this game got so little attention. It’s quite a unique take on the survival horror genre. Seriously, there’s no way this game isn’t worth $10, so head out to your local Walmart and grab a copy! Thanks to DonnyDarko420 for the heads up.
Fan project Star Trek Adventures: Year One has the unusual distinction of being doubly retro. Not only does it meticulously recreate the nearly 45-year-old Star Trek series, it's also got an uncanny resemblance to an early '90s adventure game (think Quest for Glory or, indeed, Interplay's Star Trek 25th Anniversary). The act of playing forces one to simultaneously pine for two bygone eras, the effect of which is not unlike watching Fruit Brute playing with a Teddy Ruxpin.
If you're unsure whether or not you can handle that level of nostalgia, there's a demo for the game on the project's official homepage.

Zombies may have been the scariest things in (the truly excellent) Alan Wake. No, we're not talking about the shadow-infested Taken but rather the main characters themselves. While Remedy Entertainment's Markus Maki admits in a forum post that "it's a complex problem trying to dodge the Uncanny Valley," many of the characters in Alan Wake's cutscenes land squarely in the Valley, giving them that just-this-side-of-creepy zombie death mask that we all know and love.
Now for the good news: Remedy "definitely learned a lot doing Alan Wake" and is "using some of the improvements in the DLC production already." And, in case you think it's as easy as checkin off the "make less zombie-like" box in GameDeveloper 7.0, Maki says, "It's not alone a matter of the method how or where the facial capture is done, it's about the run-time animation techniques available, skeleton setup and so on."

There are times when it feels like some video games have a religious following. The latest trailer -- if you can call it that -- for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter illustrates what a real video game religion would be like. In short, it's kind of scary, in the way that only televangelists can be. Watch the video, and discover why Sam is the way.
