Yesterday, we had a bunch of new information on Super Mario Galaxy 2. This info came from Official Nintendo Magazine’s review of the title. Within that information was a possible tease of another playable character. Well, that’s how one reader interpreted it. Today, the good guys at ONM sent over the [...]

If you've been waiting for an excuse to sink your felonious teeth into the Grand Theft Auto IV expansion The Ballad of Gay Tony, listen up. This week's Xbox Live Deal of the Week, you see, knocks the usual 1600 ($20) price of Gay Tony down to a more palatable 1200 ($15). Not bad for a night of virtual clubbing in Liberty City. That said, if you haven't picked up The Lost and Damned (the other GTA IV expansion) either, you can grab the full Episodes from Liberty City package for $30 from GameStop or Amazon.

Are you ready to scour the deepest corners of the internet to prove your Metal Gear Solid fandom? Should you and four of your friends have a lot of free time on your hands, you can partake in Konami's MGS-themed Code Hunt, taking place across various sites on the internet. (Sorry, this one isn't one of them.) Get the top positions on the leaderboards, and you'll be able to win the grand prize: $10,000 to be divided evenly amongst all members of your team. Runner-up prizes include a Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker "Big Boss" PSP Bundle and gift cards.

The contest ends on June 2nd, meaning you have plenty of time to figure out what the heck these clues mean. If you're able to understand an MGS story, you should have no problem breaking this code, right? Good luck!

A few weeks ago, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto tailored a poll for fans (and Twitter followers), canvassing to find out what role-playing classics from the PSOne era they'd like to see patched onto the PlayStation Store. We've been on pins and needles anticipating the results, and have been in stitches since Hashimoto announced the results earlier this morning: The next Squeenix RPG to hit the PSN (after Final Fantasy IX, mind you) will be Threads of Fate.

If your mind isn't embroidered with memories of the original game, Threads is an action-RPG with platforming elements and Secret of Mana-esque radial menus. Though it was only released to a sew-sew commercial reception, it was unique in that it featured multiple characters, each with their own interwoven story arcs. We won't go into any more detail than that, as we'd hate to post any spoolers. (And now that we've used them all up, you can rest assured that all future posts about this game will be totally pun-free. You're welcome!)

Sony Online Entertainment recently signed a deal with Rockin' Android to bring three shmups (shoot 'em ups) exclusively to the PlayStation Network: Gundemonium Recollection, GundeadGline and Hitogata Happa. Micah Loucks, producer at SOE, explained to Gamasutra that the "uniquely Japanese" quality of these shooters made them an attractive fit for PS3 owners.

Of course, Rockin' Android was incredibly enthusiastic to have these games appear on a console for the very first time. "One of our game plans was to get these games on a console system, because we always believed that they were meant to be played on a gamepad. Sony came in at the perfect time," Rockin' Android president Enrique Galvez explained to Gamasutra. Clarifying why the games were coming exclusively to PS3, Galvez added: "Xbox had some Japanese shooters already, we felt that Sony didn't really have those on PlayStation Network, so we thought that [PSN] was just the perfect home."

Although only three games are confirmed for release on PSN thus far, it appears PS3 owners can expect even more shmups in the future. "There's going to be more," Loucks added. "I can't speak towards when or which titles yet, but yes, there's going to be more." For a look at the original PC version of Gundemonium, check out a video after the break.

In a recent interview with VG247, Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy talked about some of the big changes coming to LittleBigPlanet 2 -- not all of them were revealed in this morning's action-packed, Passion Pit-infused trailer. According to Healy, improving the "Play, Create, Share" pillars of the first game was a focus for the sequel. The first two will be bolstered by new creation tools like the Direct Control Seat and character AI, which allow you to modify the genre of your homespun creations.

The Share pillar will see the implementation of the web functionality teased last year, suited to creating personalized websites for each of your in-game creations and making them easier to share with other players. Media Molecule will also streamline the stage-finding process with Level Links -- badges you can embed within your levels, which players can use to hop directly into another of your creations, or the next sequential level in your fully-formed game.

Finally, on the subject of Sony's motion controller, Healy said the potential to play the game using only the Move and Sub Controller "seems like a bit of a no-brainer." However, he added, "we're totally going to go to town on supporting that, but I don't think we will have the full functionality at launch." After watching this tech demo, we're not sure we can wait for the Move's near-limitless capacity for Sackboy-griefing.

Capcom has made a real attempt in recent years to break down the firewall between western and eastern development, something it's still struggling with if "sluggish" sales in 2009 are any indication. But according to a recent report (warning: PDF link) circulated to investors, the company's still refining its approach and hopes to "create games faster by using a hybrid approach combining internal and outsourced development."

According to the strategy report, that will translate to more new franchises from the company, -- something it hasn't had much luck with lately, with Bionic Commando, Dark Void and Spyborgs all failing to perform exceptionally well either critically or at retail. Perhaps some of these new IPs will become downloadable, as the company says it plans on digitally distributing more games in fiscal 2011.

Capcom also used the report to show high hopes for its upcoming slate of titles, with a projected 3.6 million units sold for Monster Hunter Freedom 3, 3 million for Dead Rising 2, 2.2 for Lost Planet 2 and 2 million for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. That's certainly optimistic, considering the company's biggest seller in FY 2009, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, sold 1.35 million copies.
