Though he insists that the Remedy team doesn't check the Alan Wake Metacritic score too frequently (sure guys), Mikko Rautalahti, a writer for the studio, said the team is "pretty damn far from disappointed" with the critical reception of the game, which will be released next Tuesday, May 18. Currently, the game has an average rating of 84, a score Rautalahti said Remedy would "have to be complete goddamn idiots to not be satisfied with."

Here in the future, we've already fallen in love with Alan Wake, gotten bored of it and moved on to wondering what Remedy has planned for a follow-up; a question Rautalahti addressed in another forum post: "Well, it's certainly no secret that we'd love to make a second one if the first one does well. But since the game isn't even out yet, it's really up in the air."

Wait ... up in the air? You heard it here first: Alan Wake 2: Wake's On a Plane.

"Who's that Pokemon?" (And who are those two other Pokemon?) Fansite Pokebeach shared this image of the silhouettes of Pokémon Black and White's three starter Pokémon, as revealed on the Pokémon Sunday TV show. We now have solid information about the upcoming DS sequel: all three of the new creatures have tails, and two of them have ears. That's information, right?

We would say that we can safely assume that these three silhouettes represent Grass, Fire and Water-type Pokémon, as those have been the starters for every Pokémon game except Yellow (which started you off with Pikachu). However, we're desperately clinging to the idea that, since the new game has been described as "innovative," that not every aspect will be completely identical to previous games. We'll just hang on to that notion for as long as we can.

A few weeks ago, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto tailored a poll for fans (and Twitter followers), canvassing to find out what role-playing classics from the PSOne era they'd like to see patched onto the PlayStation Store. We've been on pins and needles anticipating the results, and have been in stitches since Hashimoto announced the results earlier this morning: The next Squeenix RPG to hit the PSN (after Final Fantasy IX, mind you) will be Threads of Fate.

If your mind isn't embroidered with memories of the original game, Threads is an action-RPG with platforming elements and Secret of Mana-esque radial menus. Though it was only released to a sew-sew commercial reception, it was unique in that it featured multiple characters, each with their own interwoven story arcs. We won't go into any more detail than that, as we'd hate to post any spoolers. (And now that we've used them all up, you can rest assured that all future posts about this game will be totally pun-free. You're welcome!)

Rooms: The Main Building doesn’t hit the DS in Europe until next month. What’s a fan supposed to do while they wait? Well, you can find out if the game is worth a purchase, as a demo is now available on the Nintendo Channel. No word on just how long that demo [...]

We’re excited to announce that the Split/Second demo is coming to PSN for PlayStation 3 tomorrow! To prepare you for the action you’ll be experiencing, I wanted to provide you with a bit more information about the demo which takes place in our “Airport” location. After we had such a great response from fans who played this level at E3 2009 and both Penny Arcade Expo events in Seattle and Boston, we thought it would make a great demo to release to everyone in advance of the game.

In Split/Second, you build up your power meter through skilled driving techniques and then trigger what we call “Power Plays” to take out opponents and alter the track. All this takes place in the premise of a huge global broadcast event where you play as a contestant trying to win the season championship. The airport track features some incredible moments that YOU can trigger – including a navigational radar dish that explodes off its base and a tram that slams into a parking structure creating some real shock waves on the track. There are also some other really huge Power Plays you can activate like taking down the airport control tower to clear a path onto the runway which provides access to a huge remote-controlled jumbo jet you can use to take out your competitors. Overall, there are three major route changers on the course. Can you find all of them?

Download the demo and then go to our official Facebook page to let us know what you think of it. We also challenge you to take a photo of your times in the demo and post your score so we can determine who is the fastest on the PS3 demo. We hope you’ll be as addicted as we are to try new things and attempting to shave down your time.

We were proud to have Split/Second selected for the Game Critics Awards last year for Best Racing Game of E3 and we have already started receiving some great reviews from the press. The game was developed by the incredibly talented team at Black Rock Studio, creators of 2008’s extremely fun off-road racing game, PURE (which also won the Best Racing Game of E3 2008).

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the demo and hope you enjoy Split/Second when it hits retail shelves on May 18th.

Coconut Dodge, the first PlayStation Mini game from Flash developer Futurlab, is coming to Europe on May 19 and "as soon as possible" in the US, according to a recent developer tweet. It's a rather simple game, where you must do exactly as the title suggests: dodge coconuts. There is some depth, though, as evidenced by the addition of hard-to-reach silver treasures and a bouncing ball, which players must balance to receive various bonuses.

Coconut Dodge will debut with a limited promotional price of £1.99 on the EU PlayStation Store (until July).

It's a double-header of fast moving objects on Xbox Live Arcade this week. First up is Things on Wheels, an R/C racer of miniaturized yet epic proportions, complete with four-player online and offline play. Next is Rocket Knight, whose fast moving object is ... a possum with a jet pack. It may sound weird, but it's a proven formula.

Things on Wheels will be available this Wednesday for 800 ($10); and Rocket Knight will set you back 1200 ($15).

Are you sick and tired of all the freezing and crashing going on while you're freezing and smashing opponents in BioShock 2 multiplayer? We can't say that we blame you. Fortunately, 2K is rolling out patches for the all three -- Xbox 360, PS3 and PC -- versions of the game that should alleviate connectivity issues, as well as a few other miscellaneous snafus. The patches are currently "in the final stages of testing," meaning we should be seeing them fairly soon. Click past the jump to see the full list of changes for each platform.
