Hi, I’m Joel Vignola, Producer of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands on the PSP here to answer any questions you may have on the PSP version coming out May 18th.

Let me start off by explaining a few points we at Ubisoft Quebec City are exceptionally proud of. To begin with, Forgotten Sands is not a game based on the upcoming Sands of Time movie; we created our own storyline for the game. Second of all, this IS a unique game built from the ground up specifically for the PSP, this is not a port from any other system. The adventure is all new, the location is new, and the Prince’s powers are all new as well. The only way to experience this adventure is on the PSP.

Some of the new powers include the ability to speed up and slow down objects within the game; being able to solidify sand lets the prince create new paths, while speeding up traps can be used against enemies. You can give yourself some breathing room by slowing down traps or enemies, or increase the challenge by playing everything at full speed.

We’re really interested to see what you guys have to say after playing the game and can’t wait to answer your questions, even if they’re not related directly to the game! We look forward to hearing what you’ve got on your mind, and hope you all enjoy the game as much as us.

Oh yeah, an added bonus for owners of the PSP and PS3: when you connect both together, you can unlock the original Sands of Time costume for the Prince to wear in the PSP version of Forgotten Sands.

Apparently everybody was paying taxes last month instead of buying games, because despite analysts' expectations, sales for April were way down. As you can see below, sales dropped out on every single console that NPD tracked during April, with the Wii taking the biggest hit, down 50 percent from March. Hardware sales overall fell by 37 percent.

Software sales didn't do any better -- Splinter Cell Conviction was a bright spot and Super Street Fighter IV just barely made the list (which you can find after the break), but otherwise it was all leftovers from March and previous months. NPD reports that last month's 11 percent industry drop-off was the "worst year-over-year decline...since July '09, and the fourth largest year-over-year percentage decline ever." The industry got rained on -- here's hoping April showers bring some May flowers.

-DS: 441K260K (-37%)
-Wii: 277K 281K (-50%)
-360: 185K 153K (-45%)
-PS3: 181K 133K (-42%)
-PSP: 66K 54K (-44%)
-PS2 sales are no longer being tracked by NPD -- goodbye, old friend.

See the top 10 games after the break. Sales figures for the games ranked six through 10 were withheld by NPD for unstated reasons.

Hi everyone, my name is Graeme Jennings and I’m the producer for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands on PlayStation 3. With the game coming out so soon and everyone at Ubisoft excited to see what you guys thought of it, we wanted to get your opinions on the PlayStation.Blog and have the chance to answer some questions you guys might have for us.

To start off, let me explain a little about Forgotten Sands. The first thing I wanted to mention is to let you all know that this is not a movie based on the Sands of Time film, in fact, we are bringing the prince back to the roots from the PlayStation 2 era by having this game take place in the seven year gap between Sands of Time and Warrior Within. We think you’ll notice a lot of reminiscent elements of the original trilogy in Forgotten Sands.

Some other things we’re extremely excited to talk about are the elemental powers and epic battles that take place n the game. Thanks to the Anvil Engine from Assassin’s Creed II we are able to pull off huge battles, from a boss that’s over 130 feet tall to fights with up to 50 enemies on the screen at once; the Prince definitely has his work cut out for him in this one. We are also providing the Prince with new powers over the elements, abilities like being able to solidify water to climb on it, creating a trail of fire behind you, and blasting enemies away with a tornado to name a few.

Finally as an added bonus for PlayStation users, if players connect their PSP and PS3 together, they will unlock extra experience points to put towards upgrading the Prince’s arsenal.

So if you have any questions for us on Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands feel free to ask them and we’ll do our best to answer. One of the best opportunities to see how we did with a game is to hear it directly from you. Thanks, hope you all enjoy the game!

If you want rapid-fire capabilities on your PS3 controller, but don't want to trust a potentially crummy third-party device, BGRMods has the crazy, MacGyver-esque solution to your problem. Originally released for the Xbox 360, the IntensaFIRE board uses a little custom circuit board to add autofire to the stock controller.

While that version required glue, the PS3 version looks even simpler (though still kind of crazy) -- you snap the chip over the chip on the Dual Shock 3's motherboard, and you have turbo on the R1, R2, and X buttons, with customizable settings controlled by the D-pad.

If you're daring enough to try this, make sure you have the CECHZC2U model of Dual Shock 3, and the $69.95 it costs to pre-order one. Even though it doesn't apply to the new Dual Shock 3 model, we've embedded the instructional video for the Xbox 360 version after the break. Enjoy!

Mario is Missing may not be held in the high regards that Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy are, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. It actually accomplishes what it sets out to do, and quite well at that. I don’t think it’s a game I would ever go back [...]

While you wouldn't think a game with a title as brutally simple as Shank would need a heavyweight in the whole "writing" department, Electronic Arts recently announced that Marianne Krawczyk, who won a BAFTA award for her work on the God of War franchise, will contribute to Klei Entertainment's action-platformer.

In a recent EA press release, Krawczyk said, "we are creating a story that will allow gamers to explore a world where values like integrity and loyalty take on their own twisted meanings." We assume said story will be related between opportunities to stab things using two knives simultaneously -- a genre which is quickly becoming Krawczyk's literary bread-and-butter.
