Folks who played the 360 version of Castle Crashers got a nice little bonus if they happened to have another of The Behemoth's XBLA games on their hard drive: a playable character based on the protagonist from Alien Hominid. Unfortunately, that particular game isn't available on the PSN, leading some to fear he/she/it wouldn't reprise its cameo in the PSN version of Crashers.

That fear is unwarranted, friends -- a recent post on The Behemoth's blog confirms that the Alien will be an unlockable character in the upcoming port of Castle Crashers, though the requirements for unlocking it are unknown at this point. We're guessing it has something to do with the level where you kill a thousand of his brothers and sisters.

The Beam Blade Remember back in the day when you could have a full set of hearts, and were rewarded for your health conscientious nature with a beam flying forth from your sword? Man, those were the days. Why can’t Nintendo bring that feature back for current-day Zelda titles?!

The Beatles are a tough act to follow. And so, several weeks from the release of Green Day: Rock Band, publisher MTV Games has some promoting to do. MTV Games GM Scott Gutherie recently explained the reasoning behind picking the younger, less "classic rock"-oriented band for its next single-act music game following The Beatles: Rock Band.

"We were pleased with the performance of Beatles: Rock Band, but we were expecting higher sales," Guthrie said. "Our core audience of 16- to 34-year-old males are much more familiar with Green Day music than The Beatles." Targeting the core gaming audience with a band active during their lifetimes certainly seems like a sensible business move, though it does signal a move away from the kind of market expansion MTV and Harmonix were attempting with Beatles. However, Guthrie's suggestion that "Green Day probably has a much higher awareness than perhaps The Beatles did" seems like a stretch. Everyone knows The Beatles.

The clear market advantage that the Green Day game does have is the benefit of being compatible with Rock Band's existing and ever-growing library, as its tracks are exportable (for a fee) to Xbox 360 and PS3 hard drives and playable in the main iterations of the series. Though Guthrie didn't say as much, it's possible Beatles sales suffered because the game was a standalone project, which didn't mesh well with the Rock Band ethos and its core demographic.

So, the number one reason why people don’t play games is because they aren’t interested in them. I find that such an odd response. That’s like saying that you aren’t interested in movies, books, music or TV. There’s so much that those medias can offer, and games are just the same.

While Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood may hold the cover spot of the next issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, the July 2010 issue will also feature a "lovefest feature" on PixelJunk Shooter 2, Q-Games' not-yet-announced-but-very-real PSN sequel, according to a Tweet from EIC Gary Steinman.

Considering the numerous hints of a sequel, we're unsurprised that the game's existence is confirmed by an uneventful preview of a preview. (It seems Sony is intent on making this a trend.) If Sony shows this off at its E3 press conference, just try to act shocked, okay?

While the first White Knight Chronicles only made its English debut a few months ago, Japan is already preparing for its sequel. It's been a long time since Sony's released media of the upcoming PS3 RPG, but with its July release encroaching, it appears the marketing machine is being oiled up. This new trailer focuses largely on the story and the cinematics for Level-5's sequel, and it highlights characters -- new and old -- for this second adventure.

Even if you can't understand a word they're saying, don't fret -- there's still a lot to appreciate. Free-fall mecha transformations can be understood in any language, right?
