Have you already managed to complete Alan Wake's narrative arc, and now you're jonesing for more episodic storytelling in the Bright Falls universe? First of all, unless you live in Europe, holy crap you're fast. The game's only been out in the U.S. for half a day! Second of all, you now can look forward to the release of the game's first DLC pack, titled "The Signal," which Microsoft recently announced will launch on July 27.

If you bought a new copy of the game -- which, again, we're assuming you did, since it's been out for a few hours -- you've already got a coupon code that will let you grab the new content for free. Of course, we have no idea what that that content will actually entail. We're assuming that signals will be involved, and will somehow be directing our attention towards things that are scary.

#republished It was recently announced that God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk will be lending her talents to the upcoming game Shank.  I thought the God of War games were above-average in the video game narrative department and Shank looks like a well-done update to one of my favorite games, Metal Slug.  However, instead of making me anticipate the game even more, the news has left me perplexed.  Why?  Because this game was announced last year and has already been previewed by game reviewers.  The game is done and now it's time to get a writer on board.  As a writer, this strikes me as odd. If you've been interested in Netflix on the PS3 but live in Europe, you'll soon have access to a similar service: MUBI. It's a movie streaming service that focuses on art house, independent and critically acclaimed fare with integrated social networking features -- "we emphasize quality over quantity," wrote CEO and founder Efe Cakarel on the PlayStation Blog.

Cakarel promises more than just films, revealing MUBI as a future destination for "exclusive online premieres, collaborations with international film festivals, and retrospectives of some of the best cinema the world has ever seen." The service will initially be available in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Iberia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Nordic countries, Australia and New Zealand and with two different payment options: per-title, weekly rentals or an annual subscription fee.

For a brief video highlighting some of the service's films, head past the break.

Square Enix had a good fiscal year (ended March 31, 2010), but its games division had a very good year. Final Fantasy XIII sold over five million units globally during the period, with the Japan-only release of Dragon Quest IX coming in second with 4.26 million units. Thanks to the company's acquisition of Eidos last year, the company could count on some Batman: Arkham Asylum cash, with the pointy-eared detective's critically acclaimed title selling 3.24 million units -- it's a shame Square won't get a piece of the sequel.

Squenix's games division had sales of ¥109.9 billion ($1.18 billion) in the last fiscal year, up an impressive 128 percent over last year. With the Dark Knight out of the picture, Square Enix will have to depend on its other western franchises, including Kane & Lynch, Deus Ex and the games of Ms. Croft.

Though Iwata recently alluded to the fact that a "formal" moniker for the Nintendo 3DS hardware would soon be announced, a set of trademarks recently filed in Japan seem to hint that the device won't actually undergo a name change. Siliconera reports that Nintendo recently registered Japanese trademarks for "Nintendo 3DS," "N3DS," "3DSPlay" and "3DSWare." There's a lot of room for conjecture in those listings -- for instance, is Nintendo planning on implementing a separate online store specifically for the stereoscopic handheld?

More importantly, do they really think they can make the shorthand version of the device's name "N3DS" and not expect us to exclusively refer to it as a "Ned's?" Because, heads up guys, that's exactly what we're going to call it. "It might be a long car ride, Billy," we'll say. "You'd better bring your Ned's."

Well, I hope everyone has recovered from the PixelJunk sale bonanza we had last month – as far as I could tell people were buying up PixelJunk titles by the tenfold which is great!

For those that haven’t already heard, PixelJunk Shooter 2 is in full production, full steam ahead, anchors away and all that… commotion to that order. I can’t say much about it now, but it will have some features that are new to the PixelJunk series in general and will be bigger than the first game! We’re busy implementing all the ideas that were left on the drawing board for the first game to make Shooter 2 as jam-packed full of crazy fun as possible… I’m pretty sure we won’t make a Shooter 3 because everything and the kitchen sink (probably quite literally) is going into Shooter 2. Keep your eyes glued to the Blog (in-between playing PixelJunk games of course) for more info on this in the future!

And for those who still aren’t sure about the awesomeness PixelJunk Shooter really (no, really!) is, we’re going to release a free demo of one of my favourite levels in the game on May 25th. The level has explosive gas, magma, water, tons of cool enemies, volcanic eruptions and you can wreak all kinds of havoc with the fluid physics. This will push you over the edge to get the game!
