Omni Systems' beautiful indie game Eufloria, once known as Dyson, will be released on the PlayStation Network (presumably for PS3) sometime in 2011. Eufloria is a strategy game of sorts, in which players grow "semi-organic" trees on asteroids, and then set those trees against AI opponents, all presented in a minimal visual style that the game's website calls "reminiscent of children's books like The Little Prince."

The PSN release will benefit from updated visuals, unspecified new mechanics and other new material. New tracks from original composer Brian Grainger will also be added to the game. "Considering the various improvements," Omni Systems says in the press release, "it may be more accurate to describe the PSN release as 'Eufloria++'."

If you'd like to get an idea of what the current Eufloria is like, a demo of the PC version is available.

There hasn't been a WiiWare release in Japan since May 11. And today, there are only two new downloadable Nintendo games of any kind in the region. If you live in Japan and like downloading games on Nintendo platforms, now would be a good time to start feeling uneasy about the future.

The two aforementioned releases include the second part of an SNES remake of a Famicom Disk System graphical text adventure and a strategy game about Sengoku-era warlord Uesugi Kenshin. And nothing else.
  • Heisei Shin Onigashima: Kouhen (SNES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
  • Ai Sengoku Spirits Gaiden Kenshin-hen (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points)

With rumors suggesting that Team Ico's art house games, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, will soon receive the God of War Collection Blu-ray treatment, Digital Foundry decided to have a look at what the results might be. Using PC emulation -- which reportedly got "very, very close" to looking like the final product with God of War -- the group captured video of the SD version and what the games may look like in HD.

God of War's PS3-fication allegedly didn't replace any in-game art "aside from the on-screen text and button graphics." If ICO and Colossus are indeed given the same Blu-ray treatment, the latter is sure to benefit from the PS3's hardware. Shadow of the Colossus pushed the PS2's tech to the breaking point, with a frame rate that could turn the Colossi into Harryhausen monsters.

Sony Online Entertainment plans to launch its "free-to-play" Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures on a non-sentient internet droid near you sometime this autumn. SOE's freemium MMO will be based on Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and will feature such adjective-noun couplings as "exciting minigames, dynamic activities, lively social events" along with "thousands of customization options."

If Clone Wars Adventures sounds like Free Realms plus the Star Wars universe, that's because it is. The online game's collection of parsec passing experiences include a droid tower defense game, "droid programming puzzles," speeder bike racing, card battles and other stuff to do not so far in the future in a galaxy far, far away.

June has begun and that means summer is just three weeks away. The birds are chirping, the sun couldn't be brighter, and the neighborhood is positively caked with the smell of steaks on the grill and the sounds of children playing.

We know, we're terrified too.

Thankfully, you can take refuge in a full slate of games arriving this month, from Alpha Protocol to APB. We've collected the most notable in a gallery below, so close those curtains, crank the AC and start clicking.

Like The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, another classic SNK fighting game is headed to XBLA. SNK Playmore announced that NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, a 2-vs.-2 fighting game starring characters from various Neo Geo games, will be released on XBLA in Japan on June 9 with newly upscaled sprites.

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum gives players even weirder character choices than the usual KOF fare (though plenty of KOF and Fatal Fury mainstays appear), like Cyber Woo from King of the Monsters 2 and Athena from the abysmal SNK "classic" of the same name, all in the fight against "WAREZ," a personification of software piracy.

The release is for Japan only for now, but Siliconera notes that a German USK rating has been spotted for the game, suggesting a Western release.
