I didn’t play any part of this game except for this stage! RMC recommended it for me and I can’t thank him enough. The music is great and the stroy is very emotional… I’m talking tear jerking emotionality! I highly recommend it. In this stage, a young man dies in a motor bike accident and his [...]

What’s that awful sound? It’s Link’s quickening heartbeat as he ventures onward with little health. How bad’s it going to get? This is one of the worst offenders precisely because it never seems so bad. It’s not grating, high-pitched or atonal; it’s a fine little effect that just happens to be playing very, very often. It’s [...]

As first outed by ESPN last week, basketball hall of famer Michael Jordan is coming out of retirement again, this time to feature on the cover of 2K Sports' NBA 2K11. Jason Argent, the label's VP of marketing, confirmed the deal to CNBC today, saying that, "Actually getting this done is the most ridiculous win of all-time."

The original ESPN report noted that Jordan -- and even some of his former teammates -- would likely be playable in the game, but Argent had nothing to offer CNBC on that front, other than to say players can expect "some really good surprises." However, in the same article, Jordan is quoted in a statement as saying, "I'm looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually."

We're guessing he doesn't mean we'll be seeing his likeness painted on the hardwood.

So much for secrecy -- the cat is out of the bag early, as Sega has revealed that, yes, Shogun 2: Total War is the next game in the historical war simulation series from The Creative Assembly. The game is a direct sequel to the first game in the Total War series (released 10 years ago, if you can believe that) and will have players fighting as competing warlords in 16th century Japan, working to reunite the country under one unified ruler. The game promises the "ultimate refinement of the original formula," combining a new AI and technical polish with the gameplay that made the first title so popular.

IGN has an early preview, and says that hero units will make an appearance in the series for the first time, fighting alongside about 40 units that will all be upgradeable. Siege and naval battles will mix up the gameplay and Creative Assembly hints at more features, including a set of agents that "that uses a rock-paper-scissors mechanic," and some new ideas for multiplayer, including eight-player battles and personal avatars.

Sounds strategically interesting. We're scheduled to see the game in action at E3, so we'll let you know more then.

E3: it’s the most important gaming event in the world. But if you’re not part of the games industry – good luck getting in the door!

Well, as we proved last year: we don’t feel that it’s got to be that way. Once again, we’re opening up E3 to our most loyal fans, and you’re invited: I’m happy to announce details for our 3rd annual PlayStation.Blog E3 Meetup.

3585279665_d5c7922afc.jpg

On Sunday, June 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m, we’re taking over Ciudad in downtown LA. As usual for these types of events, we’ll have food, games, prizes and the opportunity to mingle with your fellow PlayStation gamers. We’ll also be featuring new and upcoming PSP titles such as Hot Shots Tennis: Get A Grip (we’ll be holding doubles matches for advance copies of the game). And just like last year – the first 150 people in the door will gain access to our E3 Press Conference, to be held at the Shrine Auditorium the following Tuesday.

If you live in the greater Los Angeles area, or will be visiting during that time, get your serve and smash ready – this will be our best meetup yet!

Now, the all-important details:

  • Location: Ciudad (445 S Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90071)
  • Date: June 13th, 2010
  • Time: 5-7 p.m.
  • You must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a parent — ID *will* be checked!
  • RSVP to the event invite on our Facebook Fanpage

Please note – last year intrepid Blog readers started lining up 8 hours before the meetup… so if you want in to our press conference, you might wanna set your alarm ;)

And if you’re not able to make it, we’ve still got you covered. Stay tuned for details on how you can follow along with E3 from wherever you live.

Small-time publisher O-Games announced its take on the world's oldest sport, John Daly's ProStroke Golf, in May to little fanfare. However, MCVUK reports that the title's developer, Gusto Games, recently made a decision which should garner a bit of attention: The PS3 version of the game will now be compatible with the PlayStation Move.

The game, which is due out October 1, will be demoed for the first time on the show floor at E3 2010, where the titular professional golfer John Daly will be on-hand to show how one gets their virtual putt on -- a subject we probably don't need too much additional instruction in, thanks. We'll try to get some time in with the game once we make our way to E3 in a couple short weeks.
