Kojima Productions can make some excellent games. But their countdowns are transcendent. Continuing an annual tradition. Hideo and company have opened yet another mysterious E3 countdown, this time teasing images of various foods being chopped. Perhaps the imagery of foods is supposed to represent the hunger gamers have for exciting revelations from the trade show. Or maybe the use of knives is symbolic of the lighting bolt action waiting to be discovered in Metal Gear Solid Rising. Or maybe, just maybe, Kojima is set to unveil his next project: Cooking Mama 4: Mama's Revenge, the franchise's first M-rated entry.

As usual, we welcome your conspiracy theories. However, let us warn you: you will be wrong.

It's difficult to squeeze humor out of a situation as upsetting as the BP Oil Spill, but Virtual Shackles' "What They Do Best" does so in a pretty effective manner. Don't get us wrong -- it's not humorous enough to make us forget that in like, three weeks, the oceans will be overrun with hideously mutated, island-eating petrobeasts, whose misery-songs will pierce the nightmares of sailors young and old. But ... well, it's still good for a laugh, and that's probably why it won last week's Wrapup. Congrats!

Second and third place went to Penny Arcade's "The Universal Analogy" and Brawl in the Family's "Cartoons," respectively. If you've got a favorite strip you'd like to see in tomorrow's Wrapup, just drop a link in the (new and improved) comments section, or send in a tip!

Sorry, this isn't an MMO adaptation of Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise. Instead, Uncharted Waters Online is Tecmo Koei's long-running online RPG, and it's making its way to America and Europe via CJ Internet. Like Pirates of the Burning Sea, the experience centers around traveling the oceans, trading, exploring and battling on both sea and land.

While Uncharted Waters may be an unfamiliar name Stateside, it's been big enough in Asia to warrant three expansion packs and an online-enabled PS3 port. While CJ Internet is only bringing the PC version to English-speaking audiences, the free-to-play model being adopted should make it an easier sell to the MMO masses.

Looksley's Line Up, also known as "that game everyone thought was a 3DS demo," arrives in Europe today under the title Tales in a Box: Hidden shapes in perspective! If your interests lie less in the uncomfortably futuristic, and more in the vintage, Final Fantasy II is available on Virtual Console. This is the one we know now as Final Fantasy IV. This one comes from GameStop up in Canada… I usually don’t like the 1st/15th/30th as release dates, because they work out to be placeholders. This time around, the date falls on a Wednesday, and that would actually make sense. Either way, I sure hope the price is right! Thanks to Mechagalaxy for the [...]

Darn that Darth Vader -- sure, he's a Sith Lord who betrayed his master, will blow up a planet without a second thought, and even threatens to kill his own soldiers, but honestly, you just can't trust the guy. This brand new E3 trailer from LucasArts for Force Unleashed 2 shows the game's protagonist Starkiller getting betrayed by ol' helmethead yet again, and then lightsaber slicing and dicing his way out of a whole heap of space trouble.

We already knew that Starkiller would be dual-wielding lightsabers in the game, and while this trailer is vague to say the least, it does hint at why we're seeing him whole and hale again, instead of the (spoiler) less-than-lively state we saw him in at the end of the last game. Looks like it's an Attack of the Clones all over again. At least that force power looks fun -- hopefully we'll see more at E3 next week. Watch the whole thing after the jump.

SOCOM fans have been eagerly awaiting this: a story-driven PS3 game developed by franchise creators Zipper Interactive. In addition to adding PlayStation Move support, SOCOM 4 is promising a much more engaging and comprehensive story mode, evidenced by this new story trailer. Strangely, Shanghai comes under attack (yet again!), evoking -- for better or for worse -- an Army of Two vibe.

Missed Tomonobu Itagaki? After a controversial departure from Tecmo, the producer of Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden found himself with some free time ... and a job offer from THQ. Devil's Third is the debut game from his new studio, Valhalla Games -- and it features all the violence and gore that you'd want from an Itagaki game. Unlike many of his previous titles, this looks to be a multiplatfom release, gracing both the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Today we’re proud to present the first gameplay trailer for Killzone 3. What you are about to see is a trailer made completely out of in-game footage, taken from the game’s fourth mission, called “Frozen Shores.”

Killzone 3 will take you to dangerous new corners of the Helghast home planet, and reveal that its environments are far more diverse than ISA Command had previously believed. In addition to the larger and more varied environments, Killzone 3 also introduces a brutal melee system and plenty of awesome new battle gear, including the Helghast jetpack and the WASP missile launcher demonstrated in the trailer.

Enjoy the new gameplay trailer, and please let us know what you think in the comments!
