If you’ve watched any of our previous E3 press conferences, Kaz Hirai and Jack Tretton are probably pretty familiar figures to you. But this year, we saw some newcomers to the stage, like our “VP of Sharpening Things” (according to Valve’s Gabe Newell) Kevin Butler and KB’s boss, Senior VP Peter Dille. For a busy exec, Peter pays a lot of attention to what readers like you think – that’s him writing those Kevin Butler ad blog posts and responding in the comments. So I grabbed a few minutes of his time to talk about a few things I think you all care about: core gamers and motion control, Move vs the competition, and PlayStation Plus.

And yes, that is a shot Steven Spielberg playing Sports Champions in our booth…

#e32010 Well, isn't this timely. The Conduit 2 begins with uncontrollable calamity out at sea on an oil rig. A coincidence, says High Voltage Software, but isn't that what their shadow government would want you to think? More »

I went into our Madden NFL 11 play session expecting nothing really new, except for the announced online co-op multiplayer and Game Flow features. While the latter is something I'll definitely touch on later, the former was sadly out of our reach -- the E3 space for the game was limited, so EA couldn't network six stations to let any attendees get at it. Still, my session wasn't entirely a letdown.

The feel of the game was very familiar. The controller layout was largely the same and nothing much has changed from a presentation standpoint, save for some minor control updates -- like the new locomotion system.

In order to promote its upcoming shooter Homefront, THQ enlisted a group of struggling actors totally real soldiers. The group marched throughout the streets of Figueroa near the Staples Center before stopping into the ESPN Zone bar to watch North Korea take on Brazil in the first-round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Renting out an entire parking lot across from the Los Angeles Lakers' home base, THQ set up barricades plastered with dozens of flags proclaiming the land was the property of the North Korean Federation. For citizens unaware of the E3 2010 event, it was quite a confusing spectacle. Video of the march after the break.
