Whether you're a super hero or super villain, certain expenses come with the gig. Spandex dry cleaning, killer robot minion maintenance and death laser calibration -- all of these things require cash. And so does keeping up your virtual identity, it would seem.

Joystiq sister site Massively has confirmed with SOE that in addition to the standard retail purchase price ($50 for PC; $60 for PS3), DC Universe Online will require players to pay a monthly subscription fee of $15. Subscriptions fees are ahrdly new to seasoned MMO players, though we wonder how the non-Bruce Wayne types will react to one of the more pricier subscriptions out there.

Playing catch-up on DC Universe Online? Check out the game's latest trailer, fresh from E3, and our pre-show preview.

#e3 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is the best 3D Castlevania game I've ever played at an E3. And I've played two of them—not counting Konami's flirtation with the series as a 3D fighting game. More »

Can't wait to earn 'Cheevos for the many, many heads you'll be busting in Crackdown 2? You can get an early start today -- the 1GB demo of the game, now available on Xbox Live Marketplace, features accelerated character leveling, four-player co-op and the ability to start earning Achievements, which will fully unlock when you boot up the retail version of the game, coming July 6.

In addition, the Crackdown 2-themed Facebook game Chuck's Duck 2 unlocks a new difficulty in the demo and a multiplayer weapon for use in the retail version of the game. Appropriately, said weapon is an exploding, sticky rubber duck. That ought to strike some fear into the hearts of Pacific City's mutant inhabitants, shouldn't it?

Nintendo follows up a thrilling E3 with something that it didn't mention much at the show: WiiWare and DSiWare. A new Art Style game leads the offerings on WiiWare, joined by two of Square Enix's weirdest games in recent memory -- two games about tossing paper bears underhand.

Read more about these games, along with a wide selection of new DSiWare games, after the break. We don't have anything illuminating to say about this week's Virtual Console selection, because there is none.

Sometime in the near future, we could be treated to three-dimensional Prinnies exploding in our faces. Haru Akenaga, president of Disgaea publisher NIS America, told Siliconera that the company has received a 3DS development kit.

Akenaga did not confirm any specific titles in development, or even that NISA had begun development on anything at all. But this can only lead to good things for people who want quirky, patently Japanese games with the appearance of depth. We've followed up with NISA to ascertain more details.
