When Sega released the localized version of crime game Yakuza 3, it took out the hostesses. Some people made a big stink. (I hate it when jerks do that!) And now, Sega is releasing Yakuza 4. More »

Nintendo's E3 was very strange. Watching the parade of titles on show for both new and existing hardware, you'd never have guessed this was the same company that for four years had almost undone twenty years of good work. More »
If you weren't able to get to E3 this year, you've likely kept up through our E3 page -- if not, now's the time to check it out. But perhaps you like to digest your E3 media through the television? Nothing wrong with that. This week, the Nintendo Channel is offering up all kinds of Nintendo-focused videos, including Iwata Asks segments on Donkey Kong Country Returns, the 3DS and even one with Warren Specter on Disney Epic Mickey.
Then there are a flood of game-specific trailers to get through and an exclusive Nintendo roundtable on E3, plus several show floor tours of games on Nintendo platforms. Really, it's an onslaught of media -- head past the break for the full list of this week's content.

Custom, third-party controllers can often be a disaster of cheap plastic and tacky design, but these peripherals for upcoming Disney games, manufactured by Performance Designed Products, are an exception to that sorry rule. More »

In 1995, Nintendo released the Virtual Boy, a 3D gaming peripheral that made people vomit. It was yanked from the market, and Time called it one of the worst inventions ever. Yet, Nintendo has returned again with 3D. Why? More »

During E3, FIFA 11 producer David Rutter briefly demonstrated the game's new "Personality+" framework, which aims to better recreate each player's real-life abilities and personality in the game. Using an early build of the game, Rutter showed how Arsenal defender Sol Cambell has been reduced to a lumbering dribbler -- at least compared to teammate Andrey Arshavin, a nimble-footed midfielder. By contrast, Cambell's tackle zone had been made far more expansive than Arshavin's. Aside from these obvious skill tweaks, it remains to be seen how much individual "personality" will factor into the gameplay.
Actually, FIFA 11 will allow players to add a bit of their own personal touch to the overall presentation. Rutter confirmed that the game will support custom audio settings, allowing players to upload sound clips -- chants, music tracks, 90,000 resounding vuvuzelas -- into the game and set them to play in accordance with various events in the match.

Disney's Prince of Persia movie may have had a slow start in the US, but it's proving a much bigger hit overseas, with the film's combined international box office takings now approaching the $300 million mark. More »
No, not car repossession. John Tanner hasn't gotten himself a job working for the city impound. Rather, due to his comatose state, Driver: San Francisco's protagonist can literally jump between dream cars with the push of a button -- a power that proves to be handy in more ways than one, as the video walkthrough posted after the jump can attest.
Yet another retailer has listed the Kinect add-on for the Xbox 360 at a price of $149.99, but this time, it's a little different: the price is on Microsoft's own site. Over on the Microsoft Store, the "Kinect Sensor for Xbox 360" is clearly listed (and available for preorder on November 4) at $149.99. We've screencapped the image above, just in case it gets removed in the future.
Of course, this still doesn't confirm the price for certain -- the retail side may have no more inside information from the company than any other retailer does, and may be simply listing what it expects the price to be. Or, the price may have gone live early accidentally, pending an official announcement. Either way, throw another piece of evidence on the pile for a $149.99 price on Microsoft's controller-free gaming system.

That was me, being dragged away from one demo at the SouthPeak E3 booth to play Nail'd by a friendly, well meaning PR rep. Can you blame my hesitancy? It's (1) called "Nail'd" an (2) ATV game made by (3) Techland whose last game was Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. Tempered expectations would be putting it mildly.

Sony is pushing 3D gaming as a companion piece for its high-end televisions. Nintendo is bundling a 3D gaming system with its own, tiny high-end television. Microsoft, the first out of the gate in the current generation with the Xbox 360, is hanging back from the 3D race. Even though the Xbox 360 is capable of displaying 3D visuals (as it did for the Avatar game), Xbox head of global marketing Albert Penello told CVG that the company is happy to be behind the curve in terms of making a major push.
"We're going to take more of an attitude of seeing what the adoption looks like," Penello said. "Right now, there's nothing technically that we can't do on the 3D side - we already have games out there today." He reminded CVG that Microsoft is not totally opting out of 3D gaming: "
But for us right now, we're more on the 3D input take, you know, revolutionising things with Kinect." In other words, in Nintendo-land, you look at games in 3D. But in Xbox-land, games look at you!
