Last week, Mobile 1UP developer Aaron Ardiri challenged himself to a daunting task: complete a marathon programming session to bring his PalmOS version of Lemmings to other platforms. After 36 straight hours of tireless porting and liveblogging, Ardiri managed to push the classic puzzler onto the iPhone App Store and Palm App Catalog (where it's currently awaiting approval), as well as Windows and Mac (where it's currently available to download for free).
Check out ZDNet's video demo of the iPhone version of the game posted after the jump. If you feel so inclined, you could also join us in petitioning your higher power of choice that the game will miraculously be approved for mobile distribution.

Tapulous, maker of the popular Tap Tap Revenge rhythm games for iPhone, has announced the arrival of the latest entry in the series: Nickelback Revenge. Now, this normally wouldn't rate very high on our interest-o-meters, if not for the critical comments about music games made by Nickelback signer Chad Kroeger back in late 2008, telling gamers to "put down the Guitar Hero" and start real bands.
Today, Kroeger is signing a different tune. "The combination of our music and Tapulous' gameplay is very cool," the band's frontman said of the game. "We're excited to give our fans a fun, interactive way to experience our music." Surely not more fun or interactive than playing a real guitar, in a real band. Right, Chad? Right?
Hey, at least Nickelback hasn't let its music appear in any other music games, let alone one that uses plastic guitars. What? Oh.

Nintendo fires a shot at the hardcore Wii owner with Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, a new shooter from the shooting game masters at Treasure. It's brutally difficult and a sequel to a relatively obscure Nintendo 64 game, a Wii library anomaly. More »

We'd always thought Project Milo, Lionhead's Kinect tech demo from E3 2009, was an actual game. Or at least an actual something. Turns out it's not, and will probably never be released to market. More »
Mario Tennis is a pretty important game for two reasons: 1.) it's the first Camelot-developed game on a Nintendo system -- you know, the same guys doing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn -- and 2.) it's the first real Tennis game starring Mario and crew. No, we're not counting Mario's Tennis on the Virtual Boy because, man, we still get headaches from that game.
So head past the break and check out the latest episode of VC in Brief below. We promise it won't induce migraines. At least, we hope it won't.
Every week, we like to check out what's new on the Virtual Console. We offer VC in Brief as a sort of taste to help you decide whether or not you would want the game in question. We also toss in our own two cents because we're pushy jerks like that.

A portion of a Kombo review…
DBO2 knows that audience that buys Dragon Ball games and simultaneously gives those players something a little different and all-too familiar. The problems with how characters are modeled during the cut scenes are minor in the grand scheme of things, while the gameplay is the real star of the show. [...]
You weren't going to be that guy. Your friends could fall in line all they wanted, but you were going to be strong. You didn't need an iPad, after all, you had your iPhone! Besides, the thing can't even make calls, what's the point? But then, your friends started coming around, magically flipping through USA Today with a swipe of their fingers like news genies, and you cracked, guiltily sliding your last $500 bill across the Genius Bar and walking out of the Apple Store defeated, but one iPad richer. It's OK, could have happened to the best of us.
But now that you have the thing, what do you play on it? We've tried dozens of apps specifically made for the device and have culled a list of the top five you should buy without hesitation. Don't have an iPad yet? No problem. Just bookmark this page and come back later, we'll be updating with the new hotness whenever it sweeps us off our feet.
PAX Prime, which is largely considered to be the O.G. of Penny Arcade Expos, doesn't kick off until the weekend of September 3, but that doesn't mean we can't start getting excited right now. A portion of the 70-strong exhibitor list has been released alongside the announcement of this year's musical acts -- a ledger (posted in full after the break) which leads us to the inevitable conclusion that PAX Prime 2010 might be the comic's largest gala to date.
PAX Prime's "bigger and better" convention hall will play host to big names like 2K Games, Capcom, EA, Microsoft, Nintendo and Ubisoft. The main stage will see a cadre of returning musical acts, including Anamanaguchi, Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, Metroid Metal, The Minibosses, Paul and Storm and The Protomen.
Tickets are available now at $35 for single-day passes and $55 for three-day passes. Given the incredible speed with which tickets for PAX East sold out earlier this year, interested parties probably shouldn't hesitate to register.

One of the key features in Disney Epic Mickey is the ability for players to choose either good or evil actions as Mickey Mouse. We originally learned that Mickey's appearance would change based on what sort of actions you take. Take good actions, and he would appear more like the Mickey we all know and love. Take evil actions, on the other hand, and he would transform into something decidedly more sinister.
Until now, that is, with the Mainichi Daily News reporting that the "mean" version of Mickey has been removed from the game after it left a bad taste in the mouths of focus testers. Now, instead of transforming into a more menacing mouse, Mickey will simply adopt a smudgy look. Just another reminder that, yes, focus testing can ruin anything.
