Just a word of advice. The Club Nintendo site is getting hammered today, so you might have some trouble actually picking what item you want. Just give things awhile to cool down, and you should be able to make your pick. Thanks to all of you that sent this in!

An Xbox 360 demo for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days should be available today in North America and the UK -- though access requires a code. Previously presented as a UK and Ireland promotion, there are apparently ways to obtain demo codes even if you live on the other side of the pond.

Options include:
  • Visiting KaneandLynch.com
  • Checking the Xbox Live Dashboard "soon" for a chance to get an unlock code.
  • Sending a message to the 1UP "KaneLynch2" profile
Up-to-the-minute info is available at the "Exclusive Demo Forum" on the Kane & Lynch 2 site. Does this whole thing seem a bit chaotic to you, too? It's Kane and Lynch -- nothing ever seems to go according to the plan.

No matter how you feel about the prospect of a DS Okami sequel made without the participation of Clover Studio staff, there's one thing that absolutely everyone is agreed upon: Okamiden's protagonist, Chibiterasu, looks extremely huggable. And now Capcom has made a Chibiterasu that can actually be hugged: a 45 cm (17.7 inch) plush version.

Here's the bad news (yes, there is somehow bad news related to something so wonderful): the doll is only available through Capcom's Japanese online store, and is expected to ship October 31. If you happen to have a friend in Japan, they can order it for you for 5,040 yen ($58).

Patience is a virtue, and nobody knows that better than the Xbox 360 owners waiting to experience the Medal of Honor beta. "Unfortunately, we have experienced a delay with the beta on the Xbox 360," said executive producer Greg Goodrich in a recent press release. "To the Xbox 360 community, we say thank you for your patience. We are working to fix the issues that have caused this delay."

EA said that it will extend the beta period to compensate for the Xbox 360's late addition to the program, though it's still unclear just when all the technical difficulties are expected to be resolved. Those who pre-order the game -- the only way to gain access to the beta on Xbox 360 -- will apparently have "ample time to play and provide feedback."

Medal of Honor deploys to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 12.

Hi there, My name is Glen Egan, I am the President of Sanzaru Games, a Foster City, CA based independent video-game studio. We are very hard at work bringing The Sly Collection to the PS3 and I just wanted to use this brief post to tell everyone a little bit about our studio and what’s going to be in the game. Sanzaru Games has been making videogames since 2007; the PlayStation historians out there may remember that we were responsible for the PS2 version of Secret Agent Clank. But this year we are sinking our teeth into the PS3. In case you missed all the E3 action, here is a quick rundown on The Sly Collection…

4750017237_35123de240_m.jpg 4750017279_0a1cb29da0.jpg

The game will feature all three titles in the Sly Cooper series: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus; Sly Cooper 2: Band of Thieves and Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves. They have all been remastered in HD with up-rezed textures and full 16:9 widescreen rendering to deliver the most vibrant, crisp Sly Cooper experience yet. Sly Cooper 3 will also be playable using the latest 3D televisions, which are extremely cool — I wish there was a way to demonstrate it online, but I think the best thing to do is to swing by your local Best Buy (or whoever) and checkout a demo of the Sony Bravias. It is a very nifty new way to experience the game and from the moment you see it you will be hooked — I know I am! Players will also now be able to earn Trophies as they play through the games and yes, I can confirm officially that there will be three platinum trophies awarded, one for completing each game. We will also be adding a series of cool PlayStation Move mini-games to the collection. We’ll have more information on the mini-games in the coming weeks.

We are all big fans of the Sly Cooper series and the opportunity to work with Sucker Punch and Sony to bring the games to the PS3 is awesome. Sucker Punch created the amazing Sly Cooper universe and we have learned so much from working with them — their kung-fu is very strong as I am sure you can tell from the spectacular game inFAMOUS! The guys have been super helpful getting everything together for us to work on and things are coming along great.

So that’s it for now, we will definitely have more info on the game to share shortly, so watch this space!

Cheers,
Glen

P.S. Go try a 3D TV — they rock!

Some of the most intense moments of BioShock 2 had the Proto-Daddy defending a Little Sister as she sucked precious ADAM from one of Rapture's many corpses. They were great fun, especially when integrated organically into the story. Never one to pass up exploiting something that's working well, 2K has announced that it'll turn those moments into "Protector Trials" DLC, six new single-player maps that are "based on favorite locales from BioShock 2" (so, new-ish?). In addition to the Little Sister-defending action, you'll get seven new Achievements or Trophies.

2K also claims another forthcoming add-on will "expand the narrative" of BioShock 2 -- but let's get the shooting monsters thing out of the way first. Protector Trials will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace (for 400 MS Points) and PlayStation Store (for $4.99) on August 3.

On her Facebook page, frequent Silent Hill vocalist Mary Elizabeth McGlynn announced that she was working on something new with Akira Yamaoka -- and that she wouldn't be in Silent Hill 8. Apparently, Yamaoka got her in the "divorce." We contacted Yamaoka's new home, Grasshopper Manufacture, to find out if it was the enigmatic Suda/Shinji Mikami project for EA Partners on which the "You're Not Here" singer was collaborating.

According to a Grasshopper rep, it was. " Yamaoka-san worked on two new songs for our EAP game while in LA," he told Joystiq. "Both will be used during some of the most climactic moments of the game. I've heard bits of the unfinished versions, and all I can say is that Akira and Mary Elizabeth are an amazing combination. I'm sure fans are going to enjoy it."

The biggest implication from this announcement is that we now have proof that work has been done on this game! Also, we now know it's going to have cool music.

Here's what you've been buying Nintendo games all year for! Well, hopefully you've been buying Nintendo games because you want to play them, but here's the secondary reason: Nintendo announced the Platinum and Gold Elite Status Gifts for North America's Club Nintendo.

Those who reached Gold status (300 coins or more since last July) get a calendar, and Platinum status holders (600 coins or more) get this neat Mario figurine thing. To claim your reward, you have to sign into Club Nintendo and provide a shipping address. The prizes will ship by the end of this year, according to Nintendo.

And now ... the process begins again. It's time to start registering games for next year, like that copy of Sin & Punishment you were just about to buy.

Stylish and thoroughly sadistic, Bulletstorm -- the arcade-style FPS from People Can Fly and Epic Games -- was one of the best things we played at E3. Naturally, we wanted more ... and its creators have delivered, in the form of the new walkthrough video found after the break. But it's not any old walkthrough. This one's narrated by none other than Gears of War creator and Epic's designer director, Cliff "Seriously, Don't Call Me CliffyB" Bleszinski.

Marvel at the carnage that unfolds in the newly revealed "Hideout" level. Cower behind desk furniture as a storm of bullets rips apart space pirates. Forgive us for being so melodramatic -- we just really dig this game so far.
