Now we’re talking…this is the way it should be! The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is now sitting pretty at $50. Now, all we have to do is wait all the way until next year to grab this game! Thanks to Supa_S for the heads up!

You'd better hope that playing Heavy Rain with PlayStation Move controls feels like a completely new experience, because that's pretty much the only way you're getting new content. Creator David Cage has added a note of finality to the announcement that work on the "Chronicles" DLC was shelved so the team could concentrate on Move support. Cage told Eurogamer that "Chronicles, as we saw them, were ambitious and with high expectations," and thus would have occupied the team's resources. "As explained, they are on hold to allow the team to work on Move and on new projects, and I doubt they will ever be produced."

Cage sounds pretty put off by the decision to dedicate time to Move support, but at least a little interested in the result. "I understand Sony's decision, and it gave us the opportunity to explore new possibilities regarding controls," Cage said. "I am really proud of this Move edition and think it will surprise many gamers, and show that Move can be used for things other than family entertainment. Now as a writer and director, would I have preferred to work on the three Chronicles I wrote? Guess."

You remember Project Offset, right -- that really purdy game that Offset Software was working on for PC and Xbox 360 before Intel bought it up and relegated it to a tech demo? Yeah, we'd pretty much forgotten about it too, until our compatriots at Big Download remembered the game and bugged Intel for an update. Unfortunately, it appears that Project Offset, as we once (barely) knew it, may be no more.

Intel issued the following statement in response to the query: "Intel purchased Offset Software to improve our game development knowledge-base and to further Intel's visual computing technology development expertise, helping the company offer robust products, support, and tools to customers. With the recent changes in our product roadmap, some of the resources and technologies from the acquisition are being re-applied to help support new graphics related projects. Additionally, other Offset Software team members have moved onto other external projects outside the company."

Sam McGrath, along with the other founders of Offset, have left Intel to form their own startup: Fractiv. McGrath confirmed as much to Big Download, adding that he "can't say any more than that at this stage," but he'll be spilling more "in the near future." So, has Project Offset been canceled? It seems likely given the situation, but we've asked Intel for a solid "yes" or "no" either way.

The combination of new hardware and a "newish" Monster Hunter gave the Xbox 360 a considerable sales bump in Japan last week. Media Create reports that 17,000 Xboxes were sold in that time (versus 2,060 the previous week); 15,000 being the new model. That hardware sales rise coincides with the sale of 92,807 copies of Monster Hunter Frontier Online Beginner's Package. Neither the new Xbox owners nor the existing ones saw any need to round out their game collections with additional games -- there were no other 360 games among the top 50 bestselling software for the week.

Though Xbox 360 sales were much higher last week relative to the console's typical performance in Japan, the clear winner was the DSi LL, thanks to a combination of several factors: a price cut, the release of three new colors of the system, and Love Plus+, the latest version of Konami's breakout hit dating game ... which also coincided with three more special-edition DSi LL systems. See the rest of the top ten bestsellers after the break.

Update: changed "Freedom" to "Frontier" in the headline.

Harmonix's Dan Teasdale, lead designer for Rock Band 3, has made the jump to Comic Jumper and 'Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel, where he will begin work on "a ridiculously cool new project." He is flying to Austin, Texas today to join the team, though we suspect there will be time for Mexican food and Amy's ice cream somewhere in there.

While we assumed the only reason you'd leave a job like that is the sudden onset of deafness, Teasdale offered justification for the decision. In a blog post, he cited a desire to work with a smaller game in order to have more hands-on influence on the creation process. "I want to be able to help drive the vision and direction of a game," he said, "but at the same time be hands on and physically implement and iterate on the low level of making games in a more substantial way than time affords me when working as a lead on multi-hundred person titles."

I have been having a strange urge to walk around with one eye covered, humming hyper-addictive chants looking to impale anything (or anyone) looking to start something… especially two-dimensional-tribal-mask-wearing enemies.

Why the hyper-aggressive musically induced comic mischief rage? Probably from the days I’m spending rocking out the new (very, very new) Patapon 3 Multiplayer Demo — now with more multiplayer!

So you say, “What’s so special? Patapon 2 also had multiplayer!”

Well let me enlighten you with a few cool single-eyed-facts (to keep it in theme, I’ll limit them to three):

  • Patapon 3 is a whole new chapter in the Patapon saga
  • There are some really cool new characters, including the Superhero Patapon.
  • To experience the awesome multiplayer adventures that lay beyond Patapolis, you’ll have to go through a strange portal called “the internet.”

That’s right. Patapon 3 has entered the interwebz (so to speak), with exciting new adventures that you can play with your friends via a Wi-Fi connection. This demo is but a peephole glimpse into a new world full of larger-than-eye enemies, super stylized eye-watering graphics, and eye-popping excitement.

Should I tell you more? Ok, fine. The Patapon 3 Multiplayer Demo adventure can be downloaded for FREE on Tuesday, July 6th from the PlayStation Store… exclusively for your PSP.

If you are looking extremely confused and asking yourself, “what is a Patapon?”, here’s a quick recap of the story so far (now I am making squiggly motions with my arms taking you back in time).

The Patapons are an extremely ferocious warmongering tribe, whose only passion is to dance, sing, and pillage their way through the countryside in search of their beloved Earthend. Their adventure is a musical one, where you, as their leader, must lead them into battle with a series of timed-specific commands (attack, move forward, defend, retreat). Each command has a unique sequence (i.e. Circle, Circle, Square, Circle = attack), and each sequence must be entered in-time to the Rhythm of the Earth (an infectious 4/4 beat).

Why not give it a try this coming Tuesday?

Nope, we absolutely could not help ourselves -- sure, we might be writing about how Rise Against and Queens of the Stone Age (as well as Slipknot and the Backyard Babies) will be adding tracks to Techland's upcoming off-road racer Nail'd, but that headline was right there, just staring us in the face! And though music from the aforementioned groups isn't scientifically proven to inspire racing precision in gamers, publisher Deep Silver believes the soundtrack will "fuel their adrenaline to the absolute limit." And what if players want to push it past the "absolute limit?"

Glad you asked -- Deep Silver has teased another soundtrack reveal to be made in the near future, saying the announcement will inform us about music "created especially for the game by an all-star group of rock luminaries." Our best guess? Ratt. It's clearly Ratt.
