If you submitted an application to take part in the closed beta for Star Wars: The Old Republic, you might want to check your inbox. The first wave of invites were recently sent out to a select few North American applicants, while future waves of invites will be expanded to potential Force-wielders in other territories.

If you haven't applied yet, you can still try to get into future waves by dropping the pertinent info on the game's official site. If you did manage to get into the first wave, then congratulations. We're all really happy for you. No, seriously. Have loads of fun.

Nintendo is, to no one’s surprise, going all out on Pokemon Black/White in Japan. Right now, they’re working on putting together two ‘traveling information centers’ to inform gamers about Pokemon Black and White. I can’t wait to see the lines that these suckers bring in!

A portion of a 1up review… Maybe Dragon Quest’s popularity in the west will never match its success overseas, but at least those who give this chapter a chance can enjoy one of the deepest, most engrossing portable RPGs ever.

Art Style: Rotozoa has been out for awhile now, and while we pushed the Art Style hub site, we didn’t make specific mention of this page opening. Reader Kappa wanted us to give it a push, and I have no issues with that! I’ve been addicted to AS: Rotozoa for awhile now, and [...]

#supermariobrosmovie I know Super Mario Brothers was also kinda the only Mario movie ever made, but I suspect it can retain its title as the worst one no matter how many future movies based on Nintendo games come down the pipeline. More »

Without question, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is the most popular game at E3 that I had barely heard of. I didn’t know much of the Edgar Wright-directed, Michael Cera-starring movie hitting later this summer. I had never read any of the comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley (though I’m rectifying that now).

All I know is, I played a game that took me back to my gaming childhood: 8-bit beat’em ups with brightly colored sprites, old-school music, and couch co-op. And when I loved it, I wasn’t alone; Scott Pilgrim vs the World pulled in awards and nominations from sites like 1UP, Gamespot, IGN and Joystiq, and was one of the most talked about games of the show.

The key thing to note: Scott Pilgrim vs The World is debuting exclusively on PlayStation Network, and that you’ll be playing it in just about a month: August 10th.

You’ll be seeing a lot more about Scott Pilgrim vs The World here on the PlayStation.Blog in the coming weeks, including updates from Comic-Con and a post directly from Anamanaguchi, the famed chiptune band who behind the game’s sountrack.

Well, that was quick! Just as soon as Blizzard announced sweeping changes to its forum policy, company head Mike Morhaime took to those very forums to say, "real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums." In a letter addressed to the Blizzard community, Morhaime says the company "has been constantly monitoring the feedback you've given us, as well as internally discussing your concerns about the use of real names on our forums," and thusly has come to the decision to not require real names.

Outside of that change, Blizzard will still be implementing all other forum changes (detailed by our sister site WoW.com right here). That said, the opt-in Real ID system will still be implemented in forthcoming Blizzard titles. Morhaime explains: "We believe that the powerful communications functionality enabled by Real ID, such as cross-game and cross-realm chat, make Battle.net a great place for players to stay connected to real-life friends and family while playing Blizzard games." Further, he adds that "you'll still be able to keep your relationships at the anonymous, character level if you so choose when you communicate with other players in game." Additionally, the Real ID system is set to "evolve" as time goes on, with Battle.net getting "new and exciting functionality" for those of you "who decide to use the feature." Could that mean incentivized Real ID use from Blizzard? We're not sure just yet, but it certainly sounds like it.

Check out the full message from Morhaime to the Blizzard community after the break.

Beating NES Contra without the Konami code I’ve actually done this, but only once. I know some people would find it easy to do, but it gets quite tough when you’re playing co-op! It took a long time to accomplish, and while I’m very proud I pulled it off, I know that I’ll never [...]

Pulling things off at the last minute, Nintendo and Square-Enix have opened up the official website for Dragon Quest IX. We’re not in teaser mode anymore, as this is the full site. This will probably be a good place to keep tabs on if you’re looking for upcoming download quests and all those [...]
