Kane and Lynch like to keep it chaotic, and that chaos is manifesting even outside of their game. You may have thought Kane & Lynch 2 was being released on August 24 in North America and August 27 in Europe, but that would be too predictable for the volatile duo.

Square Enix announced today that the release date has been bumped up a week, to August 17 in North America and August 20 in PAL territories. This works out in fans' favor, obviously, by letting them buy the game early -- but it also happens to move the game away from Mafia 2's release date.

Major Nelson updated his post announcing the one week delay of Destination Arcade with the following message: "I have learned that the Destination Arcade app will only be available for the duration of the Summer of Arcade promotion which ends August 18th."

Look, we're going to come right out and say it: We have no idea what's going on in Redmond. First, they redesign the entire Dashboard to fix UI problems ... only many of those same UI problems still exist (try finding the latest XBLA release any given week in three clicks or less). Next, they announce "Destination Arcade," a "brand new recommendation engine & visual browser app" that promised to deliver a more powerful, dedicated XBLA browsing interface. And now, as communicated by Major Nelson's update, Microsoft only plans to deliver that application for one month.

We've asked the good Major to clarify if the application will simply not be available for download following the 18th or if it will cease functioning as a service entirely after that date. We're not sure we understand either scenario.

[Thanks, Johnathan]

While that big 3D screen is the most noticeable new feature of the Nintendo 3DS, the company has some other ideas for extending the boundaries of gameplay past the flat screen -- like Tag Mode, a passive wireless communication feature that allows DS systems to talk to each other and beam game data back and forth.

Speaking to Wired, platform producer Hideki Konno offered additional details about the hardware's expanded implementation of Tag Mode. "In the hardware," Konno said, "we have the capability that when you first play a game that supports Tag Mode, it will save to a Tag Mode data slot in the hardware system. We are planning to support multiple games at the same time: Mario Kart, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, etc." The current DS system allows Tag Mode-enabled games to communicate only when that game is running, with data saved to the cartridge.

Konno said that Nintendo was planning a "Tag Mode Viewer" that would allow users to manage the data received in this way. He hopes the use of Tag Mode will "bring consumers a sense of wanting to play a game again, after they get new data from games that they'd forgotten about."

At the end of the interview, Konno said about the design of the 3DS shown at E3, "You can take this as the final shape." Nintendo has previously said (and is still saying on its E3 site) that the design was "TBA."

City Interactive is increasing shipments of Sniper: Ghost Warrior following the game's unexpected success in the UK. The game premiered two weeks ago at fifth place on Chart-Track's Xbox 360 chart and tenth on the All Formats chart, dipping four spots last week. Not bad for the developer's first major title.

MCV reports that City Interactive CEO Marek Tyminski stated, "We are extremely pleased with the reception Sniper: Ghost Warrior has received." Tyminski is likely talking about the game's financial success and not its critical reception. The game currently has a Metacritic score of 55 and 45 on the PC and Xbox 360, respectively.

It's our sincere hope that if the Super Mario Bros. ever actually did show up in our world, they wouldn't look anything like Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo -- instead, we'd really prefer they look something like what you see above: Two papercraft statues put together by DeviantArt-ist TouchFuzzyGetDizzy. Definitely click the Source link below to see these guys as big as possible. The actual statues are 40 and 50 centimeters tall, and with the detail on them, you're probably looking at quite a bit of paper.

If you want to try cutting, folding, and pasting them together yourself, you're welcome to -- the creator has uploaded patterns of each, though he warns that there are no instructions to go along with them yet. Elsewhere in his gallery, you can see more angles of Luigi, as well as models of Aryll and Salvatore from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Very cool. The best thing we ever made with paper? The football from ... er ... Tecmo Bowl.

The film which critics are hailing as "the muscliest video escapade in the whole of cinematic history" now has a similarly masculine video game adaptation. The Expendables - an upcoming summer blockbuster starring Sly Stallone, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Brock Stonejaw and Mickey Rourke - now has a free-to-play Contra clone on its official Facebook fan page. (Also, one of the actors listed above isn't real. Can you guess which one?)

Take heed: You'll have to "Like" the Expendables fan page in order to gain access to the game. We realize that some people might not feel comfortable broadcasting their endorsement for what is clearly the movie of the decade, though, for the life of us, we can't imagine why.

You've seen the stuff that comes with the game, now see ... the game with which that stuff comes. The latest trailer for Etrian Odyssey 3: The Drowned City is pretty far removed from the previous trailer. Where Atlus's first video presented the in-game storyline as described by the characters themselves, this one is pure gameplay footage.

More importantly, the soundtrack for this trailer consists not of spirited, amateur voice acting, but of amazing, retro-style music by legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro. Hie thee past the break to watch it.

We know you had stuff planned today. Grocery shopping, volunteering at the soup kitchen and taking Fido for a walk may have just been a few of those planned activities, but you're going to want to clear your schedule. The Nintendo Channel update this week has nearly 40 minutes of conversation between Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata and Yuji Horii and Ryutaro Ichimura, the creator of the Dragon Quest series and Dragon Quest IX's producer, respectively. These are some conversations you won't want to miss.

Looks like the UK's video game industry organizations aren't going to take the recent removal of their hard-fought game development tax relief plan from the nation's Emergency Budget lying down. Earlier today, TIGA and the ELSPA announced their partnership on a "Steering Committee" to investigate why the tax plan was put on ice. The duo plans to review the original submission to make a more compelling argument for gaming industry tax breaks.

Hopefully the group will find an effective solution for getting its plan approved. You know, a solution better than "let's throw our full support behind candidates in the upcoming election who promise to endorse our tax plan, only to have them forget about us mere moments after taking office."

The press release is posted after the break.
