Japanese game publication Dengeki Online has released the results of a poll it conducted regarding the most interesting games so far of 2010. Let's dive in. More »
#bootcamp
It may seem a trivial thing, but a game's boot-up sequence can be more important than you realise! First impressions count, after all, and the first impression you get of a game is the sequence as it starts up. More »
#xbox360
Did you know that Microsoft's controller-free Kinect games come in purple cases instead of the green Xbox 360 ones? Would you like to see the cases up close? Better yet, would you like to see an either wall of them? More »
#china
Video game consoles are illegal in China. Ironically, the Wii, the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are Chinese made. And there is a flourishing PC gaming culture. There has to be a reason for this ban. Turns out, there is. More »

Juicy comment, that, but before anyone goes calling them trolls (or witches! Or prophets!), it's worth looking at the context in which the RPG powerhouse is making the above claim. More »

Dead End Thrills is a site about the art of video game screenshots. Not in the way marketing teams use art to lie via bullshot; in the way actual screenshots can use real world photography rules to look amazing. More »
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands was an under-performer on all platforms, but the Wii version seemed to really take a beating. That’s too bad, because the game is actually quite good! I could make a pun about the subtitle to this game as related to the sales thus far, but that would [...]
This right here is proof that I didn’t play enough NES games when I was a kid. I’ve never laid hands on Trojan in my life, but I do remember seeing the boxart a few times in passing. I don’t know why I never bought/rented this game, but it sounds like I missed [...]
There was a time when the space combat simulator was a very big genre. There was also a time when the point-and-click genre was booming. As you all know, point-and-click disappeared for quite some time, only to resurface in recent times. Unfortunately, the space combat simulator hasn’t really seen a resurgence in [...]
Capcom is going all-out on the preorder bonuses for Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes in Japan. What you see above is just one of many, many items that will be given out at various retailers. Different retailers will net you different bonus items. Make sure to check out all the other items up [...]
We talked about this comic earlier today, but now you can see what it looks like. This comic details the events of the first and second game, and has been handled by Yusuke Kozaki, the character designer on the series. Man, I might have to import this game just so I can get [...]

Noble Team, the squad you'll be joining in Halo: Reach, only has six members. For the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, however, Bungie has drawn up a seventh member, available only in action figure form. More »
According to a post on the game's forum by a Sega community manager, plans for future patches for Aliens vs. Predator have been inexplicably canceled. In said post, the Sega representative (posting under the username Clumsyorchid) laments, "I apologize, as I know there are many features and updates that you'd like to see. I'll keep fighting internally for this to happen, but until I hear otherwise, there will not be a console patch for either Xbox or PS3."
This decision has understandably upset the AvP-playing community, who has begun to rally support for the game on various fan sites and forums. We've contacted Sega to find out why future support has apparently been pulled from the title -- and why this decision was made just one week after the game received a fairly sizable DLC map pack.

Last we heard from Nintendo, the next Zelda game was going to be out in 2011. That's fine, but when in 2011? Producer Eiji Aonuma has a rough answer. More »
Marvelous has finally gotten around to announcing a Japanese release date for No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. Suda 51's revenge-themed action sequel will be released in Japan on October 21 -- nine months after the game's North American release.
Marvelous is compensating for the delay somewhat by offering a lovely "HOPPER's Edition" that contains the game, a soundtrack CD, a DVD recapping the events of the first game, and a new "No More Heroes 1.5" movie written by Suda 51, detailing what happened between the two games -- which means, we guess, that Travis didn't spend the whole time watching wrestling in his motel room. We hope. Those interested in this version will have to provide some compensation of their own, to the tune of ¥8,980 ($102). A regular edition will also be released for ¥7,140 ($81). Early purchases of either version will come with an "erotica comic" featuring character artwork and a recap of the previous game.

...well, it could be a few things. What appears to be the final box art for Activision's Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is here, thanks to Gamefly, apparently revealing the fourth, still unofficially revealed incarnation of Spidey. And he's black. More »
A portion of a Ripten review…
If you need an item like this and have some coins to spare, go ahead. Also if you’re just into Nintendo collecting, like I am, then get this item if it’s ever possible. Otherwise just wait or save for some better Club Nintendo rewards.

Red Dead Redemption is a commercial and critical success, moving more than 1.5 million copies in its first month while wrangling rock-solid reviews. Despite that, Rockstar has axed about 40 employees from the San Diego studio, according to sources close to the developer. More »
Cutting through all of the hoopla, developer Streamline Studios has announced that its 3-on-3 arcade basketball game, Hoopworld, will finally be available for download this coming Monday, July 19. With a price tag of 1,000 Wii Points ($10), Hoopworld combines elements of NBA Jam and games like Power Stone. Even more surprising is that it was once destined for Xbox Live Arcade. Also: gamers have been waiting for, like, four years. That's a lot of time on the bench.
But this Monday, it'll finally release, albeit solely on the Wii. It's got kung-fu power-ups, seven different teams and six different courts, offering players a competitive basketball experience unseen since -- wait, since when? Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball on the SNES? Great, now we feel old.
