RedLynx has announced a second expansion pack for Trials HD, currently speeding toward a Q4 release. You'll find forty new professional stunt tracks in the "Big Thrills" pack, as well as ten user-created levels. Those lucky enough to have their level featured will be rewarded with "cash or prizes, as well as in-game credit."

Microsoft and RedLynx have set up a page with info on the user-created portion of the DLC. Those who submit the top three tracks will earn $5,000, $3,000 and $1,000, respectively. You see how lucrative games can be, mom? Do you see now?

We spoke with the folks at RedLynx about the DLC, but they could not offer us a definitive launch date or price yet. Instead, we learned that Big Thrills will include "three new achievements with 50 more gamer points available, bringing Trials HD and its two DLCs to a total of 300."

EA just took the wraps off of its 38 Studios-helmed, single-player "open-world" RPG, previously codenamed "Project Mercury." The real title: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. (Yeah, we also preferred Project Mercury.) The platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

While Reckoning isn't 38 Studios' long-in-development MMO, codenamed Copernicus, it takes place in the same "mysterious and magical new fantasy world created by New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore." Developed by Big Huge Games, which 38 acquired from THQ last year, Reckoning is "being developed under the leadership of" Ken Rolston, who you may recognize as lead designer of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

With a fall 2011 release window, you can imagine details are scant, but Rolston did have something to say about his game. After detailing the contributions from novelist Salvatore and artist Todd McFarlane, Rolston said, "And we've added something new that we've always wanted from the genre -- a fast-paced, graphically stimulating action combat experience with fluid control and immersive, discoverable gameplay fans haven't seen before in other fantasy RPGs."

We're sure to learn more on Thursday when McFarlane, Rolston, Salvatore, and 38 Studios bossman Curt Schilling take the stage at Comic-Con for a panel discussion on the game.

EA has just revealed the next round in its Fight Night boxing series: Fight Night Champion. IGN has the first details on the game, which offers a new focus on single-player content and claims to be more accessible to new players.

EA Sports stresses that the game isn't an expansion to the fourth round Fight Night game from last year, with gameplay producer Brian Hayes suggesting that Champion will be "The full meal deal with desert and a toy. The whole enchilada. All that and a bag..." Somewhere between 60 and 65 pugilists (we had to fit that word in here somewhere) will grace Champion's rings, though only Manny Pacquaio can be parsed from the two shots revealed thus far. We'll jab EA for more details well before the title debuts in 2011.

[Image Source] If you thought a bill banning the sale of violent video games to kids was misinformed, unfair and wrong-headed when it it was being pushed forth by California, you'll be tempted to add "downright scary" to the list when you read this: Gamasutra reports that 11 states have joined together to form a Voltron of Wrong in support of the bill.

If you: (1) Believe that a medium that's doing a fine job of regulating itself shouldn't be regulated by the government just because their old, old thumbs can't work the controllers and (2) live in Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Texas or Virginia, now would be a fine time to call your local representative.

Kick off Comic-Con week with a look at how you’ll be kicking ass in the comics!

4810412045_4f65380c25_m.jpg

Hi there! Teemu Mäki-Patola back to give you the latest update on Kung-Fu LIVE since first showing it off right here on the PlayStation.blog back in May. With Comic-Con just days away in the US, this week is one of the most exciting times to be a lover of all things comics and video games. With that in mind, we finally wanted to show off a closer look at what it’s like to literally step into the pages of a classic pulp action-comic in our latest trailer below!

For those of you PlayStation Eye owners or future PlayStation Move owners, this trailer gives you a better look at exactly how our own Freemotion technology will work when tracking your entire body without any controllers. As you can see, we always find it’s best to let loose when playing the game, and dressing up in your favorite ‘bad-ass’ outfit is something we definitely recommend. As far as weapons go, the single-player experience is currently controller-free, and players can use their own inanimate objects to take down enemies with much more style!

We can’t wait to show off much more of the game later this Summer, and you can look forward to learning about the game’s five-player multiplayer, enormous arena stages, boss battles, and more! The game will be launching on PS3 this Fall on PlayStation Network not too long after the PlayStation Move hits stores. Stay tuned to our website, our Facebook page, and right here to the PlayStation.blog for more details as soon as we’re ready to kick more news in your direction. I’ll also be happy to answer any questions you have about the game in the comment section below! Thanks for reading, and we can’t wait to get you all into the game, literally!

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World won't be a PSN exclusive for that long. According to an IGN report from Comic-Con, Ubisoft's unlikely mixture of Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic series, Anamanaguchi's chiptunes, Paul Robertson's animation and the collected works of the brawler genre will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade on August 25, just fifteen days after its PSN debut.

August 25 happens to be right after the last Summer of Arcade release -- not that it matters. August 25 is still summer, and the game is still on Arcade. It doesn't need Microsoft to promote it, because we're telling you about it right now.

A group of six Dutch gamers played Red Dead Redemption for 50 hours straight over the weekend, garnering them recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records. The event took place at a Dixons store in the Netherlands, where six players started out as competitors, but eventually decided to keep playing and get the world record together. All six will receive recognition from Guinness, a $1300 prize and a Twistdock connector from the event's sponsor.

There are two things that make this stand out from your average weekend-long play session. First, we're talking 50 hours for all six gamers with no breaks. While that's definitely been done before (with less than healthy consequences), Guinness was there to put the official stamp on everything. So, until you get them to watch you play Final Fantasy XIII and all of its optional missions all in one sitting, this record will probably stand.

I'm really interested in this. Both the implication of such a strong brand backing the universe, as well as the fact that this is for all intensive purposes the first console MMO, ever.
I mean FFXII and Phantasy Star were games, yes, but nothing on this level.
