A portion of a WiisWorld review… The game lasts four to five hours and for 1000 Wii points isn’t a bad value, especially with the surprisingly good humor in the game. Furry Legends: Episode 1 clearly shows that this series has a lot of potential; just be prepared to die while you’re laughing.

As a huge fan of the first Dead Space, a true survival horror gem, I've been concerned about the sequel. From the few videos released so far -- Isaac jumping through a runaway space train, or getting shot at by a space helicopter, or being launched into zero gravity to fight a grotesque monster -- Dead Space 2 looks cool and visceral, but very much like an action shooter. Where are all the scares?

Playing Dead Space 2 for the first time at a recent EA event, it took just a few moments to get re-acclimated to the familiar controls. Clutching the plasma cutter (my weapon of choice in the first game), I was dismembering my Necromorph nemeses in no time; only interrupted by some cheap scares along the way -- like some creepy creatures suddenly spawning behind me. This certainly felt like a Dead Space game.

Many fans of the first game wouldn't mind a sequel that's simply "more Dead Space," and, in many ways, that's exactly what I was playing. I noticed some some subtle changes and improvements, of course. For example, Isaac's "stomp" attack can now be used repeatedly, allowing him to vent his rage over and over again -- a great way to conserve ammo too! There are new weapons as well, including a pole-launcher that can pin enemies to walls.

The Carmine family is something of a running gag in the Gears of War franchise. More of a dying gag, really, considering a Carmine brother has suffered an undignified death in each game thus far. Naturally, we were all set to see another Carmine brother bite the big one in Gears of War 3 ... and then developer Epic Games threw a curve ball. Rather than putting a red shirt on the latest Carmine -- Clayton, the hulking brute you see above -- Epic is leaving his fate in your hands.

Starting July 29, players will be able to buy two new shirts on Avatar Marketplace, one emblazoned with "Save Carmine" and the other with "Carmine Must Die." Each shirt purchased counts as a vote toward one fate or the other. The winning vote will then be implemented in Gears of War 3. We'd call it shameless ploy to sell virtua-shirts, but the proceeds will go to the Child's Play charity.

If you're headed to Comic-Con this week, the NECA booth (#3145) will also be selling real versions of both shirts for $20. And yes, they do count as votes. Frankly, we'd like to see the Carmine family redeem itself, but we get the feeling that real Gears fans are kind of sadistic. We've placed a poll after the break to confirm our suspicions.

I’m the Senior Artist on inFAMOUS 2, responsible for doing storyboards and rendering all the line work for the 2D cut scenes, plus anything else I can help the art teams with. We are all busy working on InFAMOUS 2 but wanted let anyone who is going to SD Comic-Con know that we’ll be doing a special panel discussion this week!

It’s called “From Origin to Evolution: The Making of a Modern Day Superhero for the Videogame World,” and we’ll be discussing topics like how we made inFAMOUS, our comic inspirations, and of course some insights into what we hope to accomplish for inFAMOUS 2.  We’ll be showing some cool artwork, plus one of the first 2D cutscenes from the new game. Greg Miller from IGN fame will be moderating the discussion and you’ll be able to ask us any burning questions you might have. Here’s the summary:

Mike Fischer has been named the new CEO of Square Enix Inc., the company's US-based operation that handles American publishing, as well as localization, marketing, and development. He replaces John Yamamoto, who took the position in 2007. Before that, worldwide Square Enix president and CEO Yoichi Wada headed American operations himself. Yamamoto will remain with the company as an Executive Advisor.

"We are pleased to have the benefit of Mike's global leadership experience in interactive entertainment," Wada said about the new hire, "and look forward to the significant contribution he will bring to the growth of our North American business."

Fischer was previously the Chief Marketing Officer for Microsoft's newly created Consumer & Online UK division. He has also been director of marketing at Namco and VP of Entertainment Marketing at Sega of America.
