Well that wasn't too long! Just after 38 Studios' big reveal of the Big Huge Games-developed Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning yesterday, we've got our hands on the first few screens and a trailer. And hey, If you're looking to get an idea of what the combat is all about, this media is assuredly for you -- the giant hammer being swung in the image above probably should've already indicated that to you, no?

Regardless, you'll find the (assuredly CG) trailer just after the break, and we've dropped the (likely not CG) screens into a gallery just below. And if you're curious as to how that little dude could wield such a giant hammer, don't worry -- you're not alone.

We've never reviewed PlayStation Minis here at Joystiq, but we're branching out for Young Thor, an impressive game that's one of the best values $5 can get you on the PlayStation Network.

A side-scrolling brawler, Young Thor is instantly accessible, but with enough depth to avoid making the experience too repetitive. While it's tempting to simply mash the Square button, developer Frima has done a good job of scaling the experience, introducing new enemies that demand new strategies. My own play style evolved as I learned to add more jumps and dodges while chaining Thor's lightning magic into combat.

There's also a rudimentary XP system that boosts Thor's basic stats. However, don't expect to use your XP in any novel way. You can't customize your character, nor do you learn any new moves. The leveling seems to exist for the sole purpose of encouraging replays. Somebody out there will want to achieve a level 100 character, right?

So, that RPG I’ve been Tweeting about?

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling together is coming to the PSP! We’ll be announcing the release timing later on. In the meantime, here are some screenshots for your viewing pleasure!

The reason why I am so excited about this is that the original team will be developing it. Who’s on that original team?

  • Hiroshi Minagawa (Director)
  • Akihiko Yoshida (Character Design)
  • Yasumi Matsuno (Game Design)
  • Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata (Composers)

Awesome line-up, huh? Check out the press release here and the official site.

We're not gonna front: We have no clue who Juanes is -- but apparently he's a Latin music megastar who's sold over 12 million albums, has a "record-setting" 17 Latin Grammy awards and even a good ol' American Grammy. With that kinda résumé, Juanes seems as qualified as anyone to introduce the first Spanish-language songs into Rock Band with a 6-track pack next Tuesday.

More Juanes is coming to Rock Band 3 later this year, with the inclusion of his single "Me Enamora." Head past the break for more details on next week's Juanes track pack and stay tuned for the complete Rock Band Weekly update tomorrow.

Ubisoft has released a preliminary report on its fiscal first quarter, which ended June 30, revealing that software sales totaled €161 million ($207.8M). The company recorded a 94 percent revenue increase over the same period last year thanks to sustained sales of Assassin's Creed 2, Just Dance and Avatar. The company also reported "solid performance" from Splinter Cell: Conviction and shipped 1.9 million units of the game during the quarter. Ubisoft will reveal actual profit (or loss) figures for the quarter at a later date.

The company expects sales in the second quarter, which concludes at the end of September, to be flat year-over-year at an estimated €83 million ($107M). The company's Q2 releases are "highlighted" by plans to ship HAWX 2, Racquet Sports and R.U.S.E. -- although the strategy game has been known to live up to its name when it comes to sticking to a release date.

See that rating on the front of the game? That’s not a real OFLC listing, as the game isn’t rated for Australia. This JB Hi-Fi release of Sin and Punishment 2 is simply a UK import. Nintendo can’t be very happy about this, and selling the game without a true classification can [...]

Better refill your Zombrex prescription: Capcom is letting Dead Rising 2: Case Zero out of quarantine and into Xbox Live Arcade on August 31 -- the original release date of the full Dead Rising 2 game (that's now dated for September 28). Capcom has also released a new trailer for Dead Rising 2, which you'll find after the break.

Case Zero, a standalone experience, serves as a prologue to Dead Rising 2. Chuck Greene fights to escape the town of Still Creek and obtain the Zombrex he needs to keep his daughter Katey from coming down with a case of finding human flesh yummy.

The prologue won't take a bite out of your budget: Capcom is pricing the XBLA-exclusive Case Zero at 400 Microsoft Points ($5).

In case your Spider-Sense hadn't already alerted you to the fact, all four of the Spider-Men playable in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions have finally been revealed. (Peter Porker, a.k.a. Spider-Ham was, sadly, not among them.) We've even taken the fourth and final dimension -- the Ultimate Spider-Man universe -- for a spin (and a swing) at San Diego Comic-Con.

Now you can see all of the Spideys and their respective dimensions together in one video. We know, convenient, huh! See, we're all about the efficient delivery of Spider-Man information here at Joystiq. And, er, other stuff too, of course. But for now we're just focusing on Spideys plural. See 'em after the break.
