A portion of a Tech-Gaming review… Ignore the game’s lackluster box art, and minimal marketing efforts- this is one of those exceptional minor titles which rivals the efforts from major publishers. Hopefully, enough gamers will take notice of XG Blast! to warrant a 3DS sequel.

The first trailer for Codemasters' upcoming rally game, Dirt 3, debuted last night on ESPN's X-Games. It offers a glimpse at several environments and promises the return of chilly weather effects to the series -- well, right before a truck explodes and heats things back up. Dirt 3, which is supposed to turn all that EXTREME showboating down a notch, is due in 2011.

Have a look at the trailer just after the break.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

#hotflashes Sort of a cross between Adventure and Berzerk is "Halo 2600" by Ed Fries, a clever little timewaster that riffs on the tropes of Atari 2600 game design, especially the snicker-inducing bleep-bloop Halo Theme in the intro. More »

NBA Jam is itself an NBA classic, so it's only fitting that the revamped Wii version brings back some classic players. A new trailer posted by MTV Multiplayer unveils six NBA stars who will return in big-headed glory: Clyde Drexler, Kevin MacHale, Dennis Rodman, Hakeem Olajuwan, Detlef Schrempf, and James Worthy. They'll join the previously confirmed Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. See the trailer after the break.

An ESPN interview with creative director Trey Smith provides some additional info about the nature of the game's "boss fights" -- one-on-one matches with these legendary players. For example, Magic Johnson can now perform, well, magic, teleporting around the court. "You think he's cheating, but that's a boss battle," Smith said. Players will have to watch for patterns, "And then, it's all about executing."

#clips Alright, I take back what I said about trashcan luge and moped biathlon. The X-Games are a strangely watchable sports spectacle, and a good platform for Codemasters to launch its official DiRT 3 trailer last night. More »

If you didn't know, we've got a pizza slice-shaped hole in our hearts ready to be filled by Mafia 2's mafioso charms. The latest trailer, revealed "exclusively" on the latest episode of GameTrailers TV, only helps a little to abate our excitement for the game's impending release.

We often see Mario or other iconic Nintendo characters in use on restaurant signs, but the Lumas are a little bit lesser-known. I guess enough people played Galaxy to warrant an unsolicited use of a Luma, though! Thanks to Earthbolt for the heads up.

Hey, Linkin Park slash shooting game fan, you look like you're just about to break. Good thing, then, that nu-metal band Linkin Park and EA have worked out a deal for the first single from forthcoming album "A Thousand Suns" to be featured in a trailer for Medal of Honor, which debuted this morning.

As you might imagine, "The Catalyst" is said to be part of the game's soundtrack. You'll find the trailer embedded after the break, which, oddly, was directed by Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn. Also, it's mostly live-action, so you might not want to bring the kids around to see this one.

With great stories easy to find this week, I know we’re inching towards the end of the summer drought; before long, we’ll have more games to choose from than we have time to play them. This is a good thing.

In preparation for the incoming deluge, our new addition to the PS.Blog team will introduce himself later on today with a new feature. Every week, our n00b (who’s also responsible for the drastically better video editing you’ve seen in the recent EA Showcase posts) will collate new PS3, PSP, and PSN game releases into a single post. Let us (and him) know how you like the feature when it drops later this afternoon.

It seems that, at least for the moment, the temperature has cooled to something below its "melt everything" setting and we can finally -- finally! -- have ourselves a Summah! What's that? You're scared to have a Summah? Don't be crazy! Let the yucks linked below warm you up before getting out of that recycled air and to the boardwalk. Afraid you'll get splinters? Grab a pair of sandals! Have a Summah! Worried you'll get side-splints from the hilarious comics? Oh, well, we've got nothing for you there.

Don't forget to vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump -- and remember, have a Summah!

When you see the stuff Japan's Club Nintendo offers its members, you may be prone to drool a bit. Ironically, Nintendo of Japan's loyalty program has something for that now as well.

For 150 points, Club Nintendo is offering the choice of one of these three 25cm x 25cm "towel handkerchiefs." They're part towel and part handkerchief, but at the same time neither, because none of us would dare dry or clean anything with one of these. Since they're currently only available in Japan, of course, we don't even have the opportunity to decline to mop up a spilled soda with one of these cute collectibles.

Bungie's previously teased achievements for Halo: Reach's have finally been revealed through its latest update. 49 achievements can be earned across the campaign, multiplayer and firefight. We've dropped them after the break.

If that weren't enough, there's a whole mess of new Bungie-created Forge maps on display. The update says they won't necessarily make it into multiplayer matchmaking, but if they pass "the same rigors our expertly crafted multiplayer spaces demandm" we could be sticky-grenading people's faces on those maps when the game ships this September. Ha-cha!
