Your next chance to brutally eviscerate mythological beasts without eliciting the concern of your peers will come on November 2, when Ready at Dawn's second handheld Kratosian adventure, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, hits U.S. store shelves. The PlayStation.Blog mentions the game's arrival as "just in time for the holidays" -- we assume they're talking about Thanksgiving, which, much like God of War's ashy protagonist, places a heavy emphasis on carving.

Also announced were the game's pre-order bonuses, which include PSP and PS3 Themes and Avatars, the game's soundtrack, an in-game "Legionnaire Skin" and a video roundtable of the game's creative directors. In addition, a Ghost of Sparta PSP bundle will launch alongside the game, which comes with a red and black PSP-3000, a copy of the game, a download voucher for Chains of Olympus, Kick-Ass on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. It is, quite possibly, the most violent thing upon which you could ever spend $199.99.

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty blitzed the UK charts as if controlled by a well-payed South Korean cyber athlete. According to Chart-Track, the game was not only the first PC exclusive to reach the top of the all formats chart this year, but it outsold the original game's "entire UK lifetime sales" in its first week (one caveat: Chart-Track only accounts for boxed product). The first StarCraft premiered at No. 24 way back in 1998.

As for the rest of the chart, it appears all the top titles just took one step down to make room for StarCraft. Toy Story 3, Red Dead Redemption, Dance on Broadway and Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 now occupy spots two through five, respectively. And in a move that should surprise nobody who follows these charts, Ubisoft's Just Dance stepped it up again and foxtrotted up to sixth place -- that game refuses to leave the top ten arena.

When he was at the top of Team Ninja, Tomonobu Itagaki was seemingly obsessed with high-end graphics and processing power, choosing to work exclusively on the first Xbox for technical reasons. With his new Valhalla studio, Itagaki has shed that aspect of his public persona as well.

At a party for Famitsu Xbox 360's hundredth issue, Itagaki and Shinji Mikami recorded an installment of Itagaki's "Valhalla Freaks" column, during which the Dead or Alive creator declared that "the era of pursuing technical strength has ended," adding, "From here on out, we should pursue what makes games interesting and fun." According to Andriasang, Itagaki suggested that Japanese developers should share technology like some Western companies do.

Xbox 360 marketing chief Jouji Sakaguchi then undercut Itagaki's message about pursuing technical strength by announcing that the monitors for Xbox game demos at this year's Tokyo Game Show would be larger than last year's.

EA's hoping you'll take off that silly santa hat and don a thinking cap this holiday, when you play "Create," a new game from its Guildford-b Bright Light studio. "Create uses families' imaginations to develop new ways to play together that are both fun and challenging," said Harvey Elliot, VP and general manager of Bright Light.

So, the game's about ... inventing stuff? Not quite. The actual nuts and bolts of gameplay are about completing "level-based challenges" and solving Rube Goldberg-esque puzzles in ... creative ways. The more you complete, the more objects and tools unlock to customize the environment.

The game is set to launch on PC, Mac, Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Create supports the PlayStation Move, though no indication is given that the Xbox iteration will employ Kinect. Based on the first trailer (see it after the break), the game seems comparable to LittleBigPlanet -- though it's lacking that adorable little sack guy -- and The Incredible Machine. Create will arrive at retail sometime "this holiday."

Hey Everyone! It’s coming up on my favorite time of year…football season. Training camps are in full effect and I’m ready for my S.F. Niners to make another run at the playoffs – hopefully my fantasy team will too. Another great thing about pre-season is knowing there’s a new Madden NFL 11 available. We know many of you wait all year for the next iteration in this awesome franchise, so in preparation for the coming season, we’ve partnered with EA to offer a Madden NFL 11 PSP bundle so you can take the gridiron with you on the go.

4844616273_a89a2ca764.jpg

Available starting August 10, the Madden NFL 11 PSP bundle includes a Black PSP-3000 system and the Madden NFL 11 UMD game for $169.99 at most major retailers. Yes, $169.99. As most of you already know, Madden NFL 11 redefines the way you experience the game. From the all-new GameFlow system, which puts you in the helmet of an NFL quarterback to execute an authentic, situational game plan, one play at a time; a new playcall system, which reduces the 60 minute game times to as little as 30 minutes; 3-on-3 Online Team Play; Madden NFL Ultimate Team; play-by-play recaps from one of the most exciting voice in sports, Gus Johnson; and more, Madden NFL 11 is even more feature-rich and immersive than ever. Come August 10, the Madden NFL 11 PSP bundle will bring fans an incredible value from the handheld platform with the richest, deepest gaming experiences.

We’re seeing great momentum on the PSP front and for those of you looking for some new advice from Kevin Butler’s favorite protégé, your wait will soon be over. Marcus Rivers is really making his mark on PSP and we’ll have some great new videos and TV spots coming soon. In the mean time, for more of Marcus’ latest uploads, visit http://www.youtube.com/user/marcuspsp.

Boom! Let’s make Mr. John Earl Madden proud – don’t forget your Madden NFL 11 PSP bundle and start stepping your game up….I know Marcus already is.
