If Mediatonic's platform-climbing Mini, Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess has turned the Xbox fanboy within you positively green with envy, you'll be pleased to learn the title will soon make the leap to the Xbox Live Indie Games storefront. This announcement came in the form of a subtle teaser on the game's official site, which states that it's "coming soon" to the indie-friendly platform. No more specific price or release date info accompanied the update.

The Mini has received fairly good remarks from its critics on its native platform -- hopefully it won't lose any of its charm (or, more importantly, its uncertainty) in translation.

Paramount has announced that Iceman, Maverick and the gang will hit the PlayStation 3 in two weeks. While the PSN version of Top Gun is set to be released on August 17, the PC and Mac versions of the game remain without a solid release date for the time being.

The game features a single-player campaign written by Jack Epps Jr., screenwriter of the original film, as well as multiplayer for up to 16 players. None of that is important though, because Paramount has licensed "Danger Zone" for the soundtrack, and that's all that really matters.

Earlier today, Xfire, creator of the gaming-centric chat/matchmaking client bearing its name, announced to its nearly 17 million registered users that it had been purchased by an unknown entity. "Xfire was bought by new owners today. Most of the team that has built Xfire over the last six years is leaving. We enjoyed working for you for the last 127 releases and wish we could stay to create the next 127. Good bye, good luck, and game on," a message from "The Xfire Team" posted on the company's website read.

Following an afternoon of speculation as to the buyer's identity -- which, at one point, was listed as 3D Realms on Xfire's Wikipedia page -- it has been confirmed that Titan Gaming, a Los Angeles, Calif. based developer of "skill-based gaming" technology (i.e., competitive gaming for money), was behind the purchase. Titan will be "taking on the Xfire name, with a focus towards ongoing innovation in the gaming space," according to a message on its site, adding that, "the Xfire services will continue uninterrupted for its users" and that it intends to use the service to "help gaming companies better engage their users and monetize their games."

The move appears to have been made to better position the company to compete with similar services, such as upstart Virgin Gaming. Exactly how today's events will affect Xfire's community going forward and what we can expect in terms of specific partnerships is unclear, but we've contacted Titan to find out more.

[Thanks, Jevon]

Amazon MP3's frequently rotating selection of $5 downloadable albums has been visited by a handful of soundtracks from current-gen games. These include the harmonica-centric sounds of Red Dead Redemption, the ambient future-noise of Mirror's Edge, the eclectic tunes of LittleBigPlanet and more -- all for a mere five-spot.

Of course, we'd suggest you also take some time to consider purchasing a handful of other MP3 albums which were marked down for the month of August, but that wouldn't be appropriate. Like, should you buy Huey Lewis and the News' Greatest Hits compilation? Well, of course -- but we can't tell you to do so, because we're not a Huey Lewis and the News blog. Financially troubled publisher Majesco recently announced the resignation of its chief financial officer, John Gross, who will be replaced by an interim executive when he leaves August 20. For what are likely his final official remarks at Majesco, Gross leaves with these words: "We have worked as a management team to put an operating plan in place to continue to improve the performance of the company and grow profitability. I wish the company and the management team all the best in the future."

IndustryGamers notes the company lost another $1.6 million in its second fiscal quarter. Also, with a little under a month to go, the company is coming dangerously close to hitting its Nasdaq stock exchange delisting deadline. Come on, Majesco, have Cooking Mama bake up some compliance again.
