Activision has announced that, as of June 30, 2010, the Call of Duty franchise has managed to sell 20 million map packs life-to-date. So apparently this Call of Duty thing is kind of a big deal. In other news: water is wet and cookies are delicious.

There's been a small issue with 3.41 -- apparently, PS3 owners who've replaced their console's HDD have run into an issue with the latest update. But that's all water under the bridge, as the PlayStation Blog informs us that a new version of 3.41 is ready to download.
This update to the update (wait, what?) should alleviate HDD replacement issues and is available for (re)download right now.

“Basically what leads Link on this adventure is the Skyward Sword. When that sword is actively guiding Link it actually transforms into a feminine figure. I wouldn’t say that it’s female per se but it’s a feminine figure. It would be kind of nice to keep this a mystery, but I can tell [...]
The shambling, groaning launch of Dead Rising 2 may still be over a month away, but that doesn't mean eager players can't start planning their zombie assaults now. Capcom has released a map of Fortune City, complete with a handy list of the various shops and locations littered about. A few locations guaranteed to house convenient implements of zombie death: SporTrance, KokoNutz Sports Town, High-Noon Shooting Range and, of course, Army Surplus Gift Store. Unfortunately, we're not seeing any cutlery stores on this thing, which could make the search for a katana a little difficult.
In other zombie slaughtering news, 360Sync has revealed the Achievements for the Dead Rising 2 prequel, Case Zero. Said Achievements are rewarded for building weapons, spending money at the pawn shop and, naturally, killing zombies.

Konami recently elected to make an announcement about one of its oldest franchises in a fairly unconventional way -- by adding the teaser image seen above to its Facebook fan page. As you've probably sussed out, the publisher announced alongside the image, "we're bringing DDR to the PS3." We're wondering how long they've been holding onto this announcement, considering the relative age of the box art and straight chubby PS3 seen in the teaser.
Almost no details surfaced about which iteration of the series would hit the console, or when we can expect it -- however, the announcement does mention the title will have a "launch party" on August 12. We're not sure if it means "launch party" in the traditional sense, or if they're only planning on "launching" the game's heretofore absent details. We've contacted Konami to figure out which kind of party we're dealing with, and whether or not we should bring snacks.

The likenesses of the historic teams in Madden 09 were apparently a little too lifelike, as over 6,000 retired NFL players have come together and filed a class-action lawsuit against EA. According to IGN, the lawsuit claims that EA used the stats and positions of past players, but changed their uniform numbers and removed their names in order to get around having to pay licensing fees.
The lawsuit also takes aim at the customization options available, which let players freely edit in the real names and uniform numbers of these classic athletes. "The only significant detail that EA changes from the real-life retired NFL players is their jersey number," the suit claims. "Despite EA's 'scrambling' of the retired NFL players' numbers, the games are designed so that consumers of the Madden NFL video game franchise will have no difficulty identifying who the 'historic' players are."
The lawsuit seeks damages associated with the "deprivation and violation of publicity rights."
