Power Gig: Rise of the Six String director Jack Davis is back to tell us more about the story of the real-life guitar driven music game. It's still not the most original thing we've ever seen -- building a revolution against an oppressive regime isn't new ground for video games by any means.
But the new trailer tells us a bit more about the player characters in the game, two members of "Clan Rise" that each have their own personal reasons for strumming and fretting away on the guitar. Learning that C chord is great and all, but avenging your parents in the process is a nice bonus.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Roger Huerta made his acting debut in the Tekken movie as the character Miguel Caballero Rojo. Rojo's fighting style is brawling — perfect for a street fight. That's exactly what happened over the weekend. More »
Waterloo Labs, a collective of insane National Instruments employees, developed an electrode system to measure eye movement, and then used that as a control method for Super Mario Bros. Look past the break to see it in action -- you'll also have to click, unless you're wearing one of these setups.

Activision has lost a fan in Greg Hastings, the paintball playing pro who lent his name to two Activision-published games. According to Mr. Hastings, the mega publisher not only tried to "steal" his franchise, but also his identity. More »
Flight-Plan is the developer most well-known for their work on the Summon Night series, but those days might be a distant memory. Not that long ago, the official Japanese website for Flight-Plan had stopped responding, as well as all the sites related to Flight-Plan. Not a sure sign of death, but certainly something [...]
What you may not know about Sam, resident evil-alien-thing-killer and titular hero of the Serious Sam series, is that he's a serious guy. No, we don't mean he can't take a joke -- he's serious about savings, whether it be a coupon on a can of Campbell's Chunky or the fate of the whole world, he's all about the savings. And now GOG is saving you from a meaningless existence by offering the original Serious Sam: The First Encounter for $10.
That Hamilton will not only net you the original shooter, but also the game's soundtrack, though we can't imagine why anyone would want that. We panic enough when we hear this in the game -- we don't need to start looking over our shoulder at every crosswalk for fear of kamikaze, combustible dudes running us down, you know?

How much online gaming do you do? It’s no doubt contributed to this staggering Nielsen fact. I can’t believe people use their online connections more for gaming than email. I think that cements the popularity and acceptance of gaming in the states!

Target has been selling a handful of Nintendo-related shirts lately, and they’ve just added another to the bunch. That’s a pretty nice-looking shirt with good quality art on it. I might have to grab this one for myself! Thanks to Nintend0 for the heads up!
Nintendo is bundling its two DSiWare Art Academy apps, developed by Headstrong Games (yes, that Headstrong Games) into a single cartridge, for budding artists who appreciate beautiful objects like DS cartridges. Art Academy features all the lessons from both downloadable releases, new "Mini Lessons" and 80 selectable "motifs" (reference pictures). It'll be in stores October 25 for $20.
Nintendo announced this with the above picture, drawn in-game by Nintendo PR coordinator Krysta Yang. A recent ad for the European release shows more of what the app can do. Or, more accurately, what can be done with the app by someone who can actually draw. Luckily, it's designed to teach people to draw!

Lionhead boss and Microsoft Game Studios Europe director Peter Molyneux has revealed on the Engadget Show that Fable 3 will not ship with any Kinect functionality, despite past confirmations to the contrary. Joystiq spoke with Molyneux following his appearance on the show and learned that some form of Kinect content is planned post-launch, and that whatever was initially planned to be built into the game just wasn't up to snuff.
We've spoken with Microsoft PR, which was unaware of Molyneux's exact comments. It reaffirmed that the legendary designer is a strong proponent of Kinect, and has spoken of its use in Fable 3 before, but also told us that it can't discuss what role the hardware will play in the game "at this time."
Look for our full interview with Peter Molyneux tomorrow morning, August 5.

On August 31st WiNGSPANTT and 7 other Golden Wrench owners will commit a nigh unutterable act of brazen item-aggression so egregious that we shudder to think of the implications should the Administrator herself catch wind of it.

Mediatonic, developer of Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess, has announced the second PSP game to use "WTF" as an abbreviation: Who's That Flying?! (The first was Work Time Fun, of course!) This upcoming Minis game (playable on PSP and PS3) is a horizontal shmup in which the "Guardian of Earth" uses its "HYPER-POWERED LASER ARM" to protect the world from "Doom Beasts."
The game also includes a tower defense element: rather than simply avoiding enemies and shooting what you can, you must limit the number of flying enemies that get past your invulnerable character, in order to stop them from destroying cities.
We'll be able to play this bizarre hybrid-genre game ("with courtroom drama and intrigue!") in early September.
