Ministry are back with a second pack of three songs for Rock Band DLC next week. Yes, it's been a long time since a Rock Band Weekly only had three tracks in it. We'll have to wait and see if this remains the trend leading up to the release of Rock Band 3 on October 26. We've administered next week's Rock Band update details after the break.

Square Enix's net sales were up 11% year-over-year in its fiscal Q1 (which ended June 10), from ¥29.4 billion ($341.5 million) to ¥32.5 billion ($378.2 million). It's a phenomenon that president Yoichi Wada attributes to the million-plus copies sold of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 in Japan, and continued sales of Final Fantasy XIII and Just Cause 2 in the west.

Operating income jumped 814% in the same period, from ¥594 million ($6.9 million) in Q1 2009 to ¥5.43 billion ($63.14 million). That can be attributed to the fact that Square Enix didn't buy any major publishing companies this year.

The earnings presentation for the quarter (PDF) lists the company's current publishing plans for the near future, including the surefire Wii hit Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory for Japan only, as well as the Parasite Eve sequel The 3rd Birthday with a "This Winter" date in Japan and a "TBD" date in North America and Europe. The slides also reveal that Square Enix will handle Japanese publishing duties for Call of Duty: Black Ops, like it did for Modern Warfare 2.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who spun their creative gears and submitted entries to the Flower fan art contest. We here at the Santa Monica Studio and the team at thatgamecompany really enjoyed seeing all the great pieces you submitted. TGC has chosen the five best pieces, which you can check out below. Nice work everyone, and congratulations to the winners! The winners will be receiving their $20 PSN cards soon.

Great contrasting colors! The sky gives off a very cool feeling, and I dig the moon in the background.

Very clean and elegant! It captures a lot of iconic elements in a single piece.

Great close-up work and detail, there is a lot of great tonal range within the pink. Really an outstanding job with this piece.

A true fan — takes a picture WITH the painting. Great job capturing the freedom that the wind gives the petals and the sway of the grass.

Oh yeah, there’s also this other REALLY cool tid-bit of news. The Flower demo was released on PSN last week! TGC put in the time and effort to really bring a nice demo to you few hold-outs who have yet to get this award-winning game! So don’t wait any further, rush over to the PlayStation Store and pick-up the Flower Demo to see what everyone is talking about. The other great thing is, since this is a trial, all you have to do is purchase the unlock key at the end of the demo, and the whole game is yours for just $9.99!

So thanks again to everyone who contributed , we really appreciate the effort, and congratulations to TGC’s five top picks!

Just after Engadget Show host Josh Topolsky finished grilling Peter Molyneux on stage this past Wednesday, we wrangled Molyneux for another interview. First and foremost, we had to clear up what happened to the promise of Kinect in Fable 3 -- and we already told you his answer to that -- but we also wanted to venture into more general discussion.

Molyneux spoke openly to us about the potential of Kinect, his personal struggle with promising game mechanics that may or may not end up in the final release, and how the success of Fable 2's episodic release will influence his studio's future.

Activision isn't the only company that dropped financial facts on us today -- accessory maker Mad Catz also held a conference call to do some fiscal reporting, and the outlook wasn't so good over there. Q2 2010's net sales were reported as $19.9 million, which is down 11 percent from the same period last year. Mad Catz blamed the fall on a lack of Street Fighter 4 accessory sales, but said the rest of the year should be fine, with its official Rock Band 3's accessories plus an assortment of stands, cases, chargers and the like due out for Move and Kinect as well.

Elsewhere in the report, Mad Catz notes that North American sales were the biggest loss, while sales in Europe and other countries rose. And while the Xbox 360 and Wii accessory sales held fairly steady, the PlayStation 3 saw a loss of about five points from 24 percent to 19. Audio products saw a big jump, which Mad Catz says is because of the recent Tritton Technologies acquisition.

After months of domination by one of the Final Fantasy games, the PlayStation Network has finally managed to snag a new victor on its Top 10 chart. However, it probably isn't what you're expecting. Ludia's digital recreation of Family Feud snags the top spot, away from new games like DeathSpank. We're glad that indie favorite Joe Danger still stands strong on the list, but we're still bewildered by the large number of Mortal Kombat II downloads. Seriously people, stop it.
