While this crossover would make Portal's combat clumsier, you'd imagine on the flipside it'd make running around that empty old castle a breeze. By junkboy, as seen on Bytejacker. More »
Hey, Seven45 Studios? We need to have some words about your recent viral advertisement for Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, which is posted just after the jump. Provided the footage therein is real -- and in this day and age of fancy-schmancy video editing software, who really knows -- then we're terrified for the future of Iceland. After all, we think we can all agree that what the April eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull were missing were ballistic, Skittle-colored shards of molten plastic.
Check out the edgy (and quite possibly felonious) ad just past the jump.

After a few years of service in various incarnations, Playdom's Chronicles of Spellborn MMO is calling it quits and will be shutting down its servers next month. Recent server outages are unrelated, apparently, but the game, which started out as a pay-to-play title and then redeveloped as a free-to-play game after the original developers went bankrupt, will be done for good at the end of September, according to an email from a company representative. The game still had a small but active community, and they've started the usual Internet petition to try and keep it online.
We contacted Disney to see what part, if any, it might have had in the game's shutdown, given that it now presumably oversees the property, but the House of Mouse declined a comment. Whoever decided to pull the plug, looks like the Chronicles has reached its last page.

John Romero haunts game developer id Software. Yes, he co-founded the studio and thus more than earned his place in id history. But Romero only worked there between the years of 1991 and 1996. More »
My Aquarium, a $5 WiiWare app that allows players to design and populate a virtual fish tank, is headed to the PlayStation 3, according to an ESRB listing. The content description reveals such scintillating features as the option to "learn facts about a variety of different species," and the ability to "use rocks, plants, and coral formations to customize their tank." But it wasn't a hit on WiiWare for its engaging gameplay. My Aquarium's appeal is in its function as a sort of customizable screensaver, which would only be enhanced by an HD port.
Meanwhile, My Aquarium 2 was released on WiiWare today. Kind of weird timing for a reveal of a ported version of the original, which, we suppose, is why we're seeing an ESRB "leak" today and not an official Hudson announcement.

A portion of a Nintendo-Okie review…
Madden NFL 11 on Wii is a very decent football experience. There are some things that long time fans of the franchise will find missing, but despite all of it’s flaws Madden NFL 11 is still a very good football experience for Wii owners.
It appears Sports Illustrated's Madden 10 package was a success. Last year, the magazine offered a free copy of EA Sports' football game by ordering a subscription. This year, the magazine is repeating the offer, updating the deal with a free copy of Madden 11 (on the platform of your choice) and a "Making of Madden NFL" DVD. Considering the bundle is the same price as a standalone copy at retail, this is definitely a terrific value -- provided you can survive the "4-6 week" wait time for the game to arrive.
Once again, we advise you to watch out for the auto-renewal option if you do take advantage of the offer. You'll have to cancel your subscription before it ends, or SI will charge you for another year when the time comes. See, sports video games aren't the only business with annual business plans. So JC does
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift has already seen one DLC character, Makoto. Arc System Works has announced the second at a Japanese event, and it's a familiar face to series fans. Rachel's butler, Valkenhayn Hellsing, will be joining the fight sometime in the near future. We all should have seen this coming: how can someone named Valkenhayn Hellsing not take part in epic battles?
Arc System Works has yet to announce a price or release date for the character, and Aksys Games had no information yet about a stateside release. If the pricing follows Makoto's example, it'll be $7.99, 560 Microsoft Points, or 800 yen.
