As revealed by a recent post on PlayStation.Blog, Atlus' strategy-meets-RPG-meets-Bullet Hell shooter Knights in the Nightmare will make the jump from the DS to the PSP on October 19. That should give you 12 good days of play time with which to get totally spooked out before Halloween -- provided you share our mortal fear of multitasking.

If you're unfamiliar with the title, which hit Nintendo's handheld last year, you can catch a glimpse of its frothy stew of genres in a new trailer posted just after the jump.

Though the game received some middling reviews, it seems Xbox Live Marketplace browsers couldn't resist the appeal of Castlevania: Harmony of Despair's retro charms -- or it's status as a Summer of Arcade title. The multiplayer monster slayer placed first on the Arcade purchases charts for the week of August 2, though it only claimed the number 15 spot for overall online activity.

Deadly Premonition, Access Games' creepy, low-budget survival horror adventure starring an insane FBI investigator, is on the way to Europe. Former Marvelous partner and "Home of Japanese Games" Rising Star Games will publish the surreal open-world Xbox 360 game in Europe this "autumn," for £24.99 ($39), which isn't quite as wallet-friendly as the North American release's $19.99 price point, but is still less than full price.

In the press release, Rising Star noted the unusual range of reactions from reviewers, including IGN's 2/10 review. Seriously, this quote is in the press release announcing the game: "Awful in nearly every way... Terrible controls. Terrible pacing. Terrible sound effects. Terrible visuals." Absolutely everything about this game is insane, even the people publishing it.

Yesterday, Split/Second developer Black Rock Studios patched its highly volatile racer, adding a feature that's frequently been requested by its loyal players: The ability to filter multiplayer lobbies, only allowing players to drive certain classes of cars. Having solved the "monster trucks vs. high performance Formula One racers" dilemma, the developer turned its eyes towards the future, and recently issued a survey inquiring what players would like to see introduced in future updates and DLC packs.

We'd participate in the survey, but we're not sure Black Rock would appreciate our answers, which would pretty much boil down to "we'd like to see a space ship crash into a nuclear meltdown site which is also an aircraft carrier made of dynamite and fire." That's not too much to ask, is it?
