A straightforwardly named Mortal Kombat Arcade Compilation has appeared (and since disappeared) from UK online retailer ShopTo. According to Eurogamer, the original listing promised an HD collection of the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat (an updated version of Mortal Kombat 3). The original listing included a November 12th release date.

The listing raises some questions. For example, considering the franchise's history, shouldn't this be called the Mortal Kombat ... Kompilation? Additionally, the product was listed only for PS3 -- could it be exclusive to that platform? (Considering the perpetual success of Mortal Kombat on PlayStation Network, that would be somewhat unsurprising.)

A WB representative decided not to confirm nor deny the validity of the leak, simply stating "there has been nothing officially announced at this point." However, the rep did note that she will let us (and you!) know "if and when there is anything to announce."

Cryptic Studios, developer of MMOs Champions Online and, more recently, Star Trek Online, has announced that chief creative officer Bill Roper has left the company. He follows in the footsteps of Craig Zinkievich, executive producer on STO who left Cryptic back in July. Talk about a rough summer for the development studio!

Prior to his two-year stint at Cryptic, Roper worked at Blizzard and then Flagship Studios, the developer responsible for creating Hellgate: London. Roper cites his "entrepreneurial spirit" as the reason for his departure, a spirit he says "has become restless" over the last few months. We wish him all of the luck in his future endeavors.

Sony couldn't possibly stage its Gamescom 2010 press conference without spotlighting its FPS mega-sequel, Killzone 3. So we've gotten a new trailer for the game -- the same one screened for attendees -- that provides a first glimpse at the new game's multiplayer component in action. Big, metal, stomping action.

In addition to the usual running around in squads shooting the bad guys, this footage shows something we wished Killzone 2's multiplayer featured but never did: the ability to use giant powered exoskeletons to smash your opponents. (The single-player mode's jetpacks are in there, too.) Sadly, the exoskeleton doesn't appear to transform into a jeep or other vehicle -- that's for Killzone 4, obviously. For now, we'll just have to make do with what you can see in the video after the break.

Medal of Honor is going to treat war seriously. No, really! EA doesn't want there to be any doubt in your mind that the game will respectfully display the kind of battles that actual Tier 1 operators experience on a regular basis. In fact, EA and DICE went as far as to get the actual Tier 1 operators that consulted on the game to explain as much in their latest trailer.

As secretive and stealthy as these guys are, their faces aren't actually made of blurred pixels -- that's just EA concealing identities for security purposes, silly! Anyway, if these very serious gentleman speaking about their consulting positions very seriously doesn't convince you of MOH's seriousness, we're not sure what will. Perhaps this Linkin Park single?

We've got to hand it to Lionhead -- those guys sure know how to put together a compelling cross-section of their game using just a handful of still images. Take, for instance, the Fable 3 screenshots posted in the gallery below. Therein, you'll witness:
  • A dude with a giant hammer
  • A bunch of skeletons who are about to be shot with a pretty, pretty gun
  • A Napoleonic lookalike who's wielding offensive magic
  • What appears to be an exploding train engine
  • So, so many fancy articles of clothing
Check out the ten new screens below as you try to decide exactly what type of frock coat your royal protagonist will sport. We're thinking of going with a high-waisted, double-breasted robin's egg blue frock coat with white trim and gold buttons. Something subtle yet elegant, you know?
