Aulistar Mark is not a benevolent dictator; he has a habit of "making people disappear, if they say something that isn't pleasing to my ears." That, folks, is a banhammer. Good thing he's the intern, and only playing Tropico 3. More »
Sure, you've got four different Spider-men to play as in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, but none have been particularly fashionable, wouldn't you say? Today, we're introduced to one of the optional alternate costumes available to those who pre-order the game: Scarlet Spider-Man.
Initially a clone of Peter Parker introduced back in the '90s, the Scarlet Spider Suit is available to those who pre-order the game from Kmart. Swing on past the break for a new trailer of the muscle-tee-sporting lad in action.

Weight: Ugh. I don't even want to know what I weigh after inhaling that slice.
Food consumed today: Do I really have to spell it out again? P. I. Z. Z. A. And I know for sure the guys running that joint aren't in the mafia or whatever. I don't even think they're Italian.
Evening. Cloudy. A good night for the gym.
Oh Diary, what to do about these UNICO National people? They've gone and denounced Mafia 2 as a "pile of racist nonsense" -- which is great to get some added publicity a week before launch. Lord knows this game has been in development for-ever.
But still, to suggest the game will "indoctrinate a new generation into directly associating Italians and Italian Americans with violent, murderous organized crime" -- really? Mafia 2 is clearly a period piece. I mean, look at the cars in that game. Oh, and those clothes! What a riot!
Frankly, and I don't think I'm alone here, when I think Italian American -- sure, I used to think The Godfather, and then it was The Sopranos -- but now it's GTL, you know? Those are good values. I mean, look just how far a strong body can take you. And who wants to walk around looking all pale? Which reminds me! I need to go schedule my dry cleaning to be delivered in the morning. TTYL!

Sure, the open-world gameplay of Retro City Rampage might look like a GTA clone with a coat of 8-bit paint, but as you can
clearly tell from this first glimpse of the game in action, it's a wild tribute to -- and riff on -- some of the most memorable (and obscure) NES titles ever made.
"Downloading to your console in 2010," this WiiWare release looks to contain more IJPS (inside jokes per square inch) than any before it. Just a selection of the games referenced (visually and in play mechanics) during this trailer: Metal Gear, Bionic Commando, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Skate or Die, Super Mario Bros., Punch-Out!! and Ninja Gaiden.
Developer VBlank plans to have a playable version of Retro City Rampage up and running at PAX Prime next month. If, at any time, you'd like to chat with a Joystiq editor during the show, you'll find at least one of us glued to the game.
I guess by now if you don’t own a Wii and are coming to this website you indeed love all aspects of video game news just for the news. Hey, if you’re in that category then here is a great article for you. I’d say my number one reason would be “because you can buy [...]

THQ is showing off the PC version of Homefront for the first time at Gamescom this week, thanks to the efforts of Digital Extremes. The publisher announced that Digital Extremes, best known for Pariah, Dark Sector and for assisting on BioShock 2, is developing the PC release. According to THQ executive producer Frank De Lise, DI won't simply be dropping Kaos Studios' North Korean invasion-themed FPS onto PC.
"We're building on the great game that Kaos Studios is making and enhancing it with specific PC relevant features," De Lise said, listing dedicated servers and clan support specifically. "We believe the core PC first-person-shooter fan will really appreciate these features, which are becoming increasingly rare." Who could that statement be directed at?
A portion of the NintendoLife Review:
Like Samus’s new suit, Metroid Fusion is utterly absorbing. It is a perfectly crafted handheld adventure that’ll grip you from start to finish, even if those two points aren’t necessarily far apart. It will leave you wanting more, but that’s no bad thing: some of the best things in life [...]
We talked about it around the office and decided today's the day you have to get excited about Shu Takumi's Ghost Trick. It's all here in this Gamescom footage -- the amazing animation, the funky premise, the unique gameplay -- all you need to do is open your heart. Go ahead. Open it. We'll wait.

Gamescom represented my first chance to go hands on with Fable III for the Xbox 360, a game that's more action adventure than its forebears. It's also a game that matches its dark side with a lighter one. More »

24/7 Solitaire is a really attractive release. With an impressive amount of content for those who love card games, this is definitely a great buy. Cosmigo has left me more than satisfied with this collection, and I look forward to seeing more DSiWare releases from them in the future.

I don’t know how Romance of the Three Kingdoms didn’t make this list. Oh wait, it’s because I’m the only jerk that’d play the dang game! Well, I know I agree with the other entries on this list. Especially Fatal Frame. The [...]
According to Telegraph.co.uk, the UK group Advertising Standards Authority has concluded that a recent advertisement for the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII is "misleading." It seems the commercial in question used footage from the PlayStation 3 version of the game. While it's acknowledged that the Xbox 360 version looks slightly inferior to the PS3 version, what makes the ASA's claim interesting is that the commercial is composed entirely of pre-rendered FMV footage.
Using a side-by-side comparison of each version of the game, the ASA reached the conclusion that the PS3 version "appeared sharper and colours were more vivid" and thus the commercial "exaggerated the quality of the footage available on the XBOX 360, albeit marginally."
For its part, Square-Enix admitted that the FMV was captured from a PlayStation console but added that there was "no substantive difference" between the footage on either console and that only those watching in HD would notice the "slight difference." The ASA has ordered that the commercial not be shown again.
