Seemingly at peace with the fact that it may never escape the "Resident Evil 5 is racist" flap the game stirred up last year, Capcom USA is speaking openly about measures it is taking to ensure it can offer a non-Japanese perspective on future titles. Talking with Gamasutra, the senior PR rep for the publisher's North American operation, Melody Pfeiffer, confirmed that, "Since the RE5 controversy, we have become much more aware of how important it is that we are part of the asset creation process early on so that we are able to have a say in the end product." (Implying that it didn't before.)

"We are also designing a lot of our own assets from this side of the pond, so that we are able to make strategic pieces of content that make sense for our market," Pfeiffer added, saying, "We are working really closely with our producers in Japan to construct these materials for the West and they are open more then ever to hearing our thoughts and ideas for assets."

Translated: Capcom USA hopes it won't be blindsided again, and has gotten assurances from the home office that it'll be listened to the next time it says, "Uh, no, that ain't gonna fly anywhere." Listened to, yes, but heard? Only the lack of another "RE5 controversy" can serve as proof.

I don’t know what in the hell is going on here. Looks like a 2-player mode to me, but why add another color Sonic as the second player? Hopefully SEGA will explain all of this very soon! Thanks to Hero of Legend for the heads up!

Treyarch is planning to do a little "official" modding of the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops, adding tools to enable user modding after launch. Treyarch's Cesar "PCDev" Stastny said on the game's forum, "We do not know yet to what extent you will be able to mod the game," citing some technical issues that have yet to be dealt with. "Right now we are completely focused on finishing the game."

Infinity Ward teased mod tools for the PC version of Modern Warfare 2, but that didn't end up happening. The good news is that if these Black Ops mod tools pan out, you can make all the Modern Warfare 2 levels, and then mod those.

Do you feel like taking a break from the toils of your day to watch an action-packed blockbuster, but don't really feel like dedicating ninety minutes to watching a film? There's an easy solution to that: check out YouTube user Kitty0706's "The Jacknife Chronicles," a twelve-minute, remarkably violent revenge story created entirely within Garry's Mod for Half-Life 2. We anticipate that it will it satisfy your action cravings in a fairly efficient manner.

The short film, which borrows more than a few locales and soundtrack clips from Mirror's Edge and Portal, can be found in its entirety after the jump. It's a little NSFW -- especially if you happen to work as a security guard in a high-tech compound.

"Peripherals for Kinect? How does that work?" you might be asking yourself. First, we would point out that every article of clothing you own is technically a Kinect peripheral. Second, the first Kinect peripherals from PDP aren't the kind you might expect. Rather than offering up plastic tennis rackets or lightsabers, PDP has announced a line of products (first glimpsed at E3) to help consumers mount their new Kinect in various situations.
  • Wall Mount - $14.99
  • TV Mount - $39.99
  • Extension Cable - $49.99(!)
  • Floor Stand - $29.99
We suppose some people might spend $40 on the VESA standard TV mount, though you could accomplish the same task with $5 worth of Velcro. The floor stand might prove useful, however, as it keeps the unit "above the floor to help protect the Kinect for Xbox 360 from foot traffic and dirt." We might suggest the off-brand version of the floor stand, though. It's called a table. PDP's Kinect products will be available this November.

Much like the mafioso antics of Mafia 2's Vito Scaletta and co., review scores for the game are all over the place. 2K Games probably wants people to fuhgedabout those on the lower end, but we've collected a sampling of the whole gamut for you below. And hey, if you haven't read our review yet, you should read it first -- capisce?
  • Game Informer (90/100): "In an era when video games are moving away from relying on cinematics for storytelling, Mafia II draws on the rich mobster film history to weave a gripping drama about family, friendship, loyalty, betrayal, and pragmatism. If you're fond of quoting Don Corleone and Tony Soprano, don't miss this game."
  • GameSpot (8.5): "Mafia II is an excellent return of a franchise with great promise. Vito and his associates are memorable characters in a city bursting with subtle visual details and violent undertones ... While you might be disappointed with what Mafia II doesn't do, it's hard to be disappointed by what this excellent game does do: deliver fun shoot-outs and pockets of shocking brutality in a world you're delighted to be a part of."
  • Giant Bomb (3/5 Stars): "Playing Mafia II gives you the feeling that the developers put more emphasis on telling a great mob story than designing a great video game, but had to split their attention too much to effectively do either one ... There are a lot of great mob stories out there already, and this one needed more focus to stand out next to all the memorable tales that came before."
  • Eurogamer (4/10): "Mafia II gets the last word by destroying the myth that the mafia is interesting at all. It contends that the mob world is a hell of boredom populated by aggressively stupid automatons. These drones wake up each morning, carry out a series of repetitious tasks, and return home. The message: thug life is nothing more than it appears. And Mafia II is even less."
