Gearbox Software has just revealed the "Game of the Year Edition" of Borderlands via its Twitter account, only saying the re-release will be coming to 360, PS3 and PC this October with all four DLC add-ons and a bonus map. The forthcoming GOTY version hasn't been given a price, solid release date, or spiffy new box art just yet, but we expect Gearbox and 2K Games will be sending that along shortly.

In the meantime, we've got little more to offer you than this thoroughly riveting GameStop product listing for a Borderlands Game of the Year strategy guide that popped up in early July. Just think -- you may be able to ... re-buy the game guide as well? A ... awesome?

Oh, you thought the Virtual Console was back in full force? That's understandable -- what with there finally being a new game to play last week. But here we are again: It's Monday and there are no new Virtual Console releases to speak of. Instead, we get one new WiiWare game and three new DSiWare titles. Check 'em out after the break.

Ubisoft has announced its lineup for this week's PAX convention, including playable demos of Your Shape and MotionSports for Kinect, and public demonstrations of Child of Eden, Just Dance 2 and H.A.W.X. 2 multiplayer. The company will also have a brand new title on display: Outland for PSN and XBLA, for which attendees will be able to see "a sneak peek."

It's possible this game is related to the upcoming Outland movie remake. Ubisoft hasn't given any clues other than the title, so it could be a game based on the comic strip, for all we know. We'll all find out at PAX, unless everyone is too busy pre-ordering Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (you get a free T-shirt for pre-ordering the game at PAX) or staring at Child of Eden to notice.

Index Holdings, the parent company of 3D Dot Game Heroes publisher and Shin Megami Tensei developer Atlus, has announced its intent to completely absorb Atlus to better manage the company's resources. The dissolution is expected to take place on October 1, provided Atlus, Index Holdings and subsidiary company Index agree to the terms of the merger during board meetings being held today.

It's unclear how this deal could affect future releases from the prolific RPG developer and publisher. According to Game Watch, a representative from Index Holdings explained that upcoming titles would still be released under the Atlus brand. We've contacted Atlus for further clarification.

Matt Gilgenbach here. We’ve been pretty silent for the past year since I last visited the PlayStation.Blog about Retro/Grade, but that’s because 24 Caret Games has been hard at work transforming our prototype shown at the 2009 Independent Games Festival into an awesome PSN title.

As you can see in the screenshots, all the graphics have been redone in order to take advantage of the power the Playstation 3 provides. Retro/Grade will look amazing on your HDTV because it runs at Full HD (1080p) with anti-aliasing at a silky smooth 60 frames per second.

On the gameplay side, we’ve been very busy working to ensure that it is the most fun possible. After some serious focus testing, any rough spots in the gameplay have been smoothed out. Our composer, Skyler McGlothlin, has worked hard to improve all our original tracks for the game. We’ve adjusted the gameplay patterns for maximum enjoyment. In order to help people wrap their minds around our time bending concepts, the tutorial has been greatly improved.

If you are going to the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle on September 3-5, stop by booth 3008! Retro/Grade will be playable, and we are giving out posters and info cards. As well, you can win a Retro/Grade t-shirt by beating our challenge.

On top of all that, we are having a contest to get your name in the credits for Retro/Grade! The gamers with the top five scores using the guitar controller and the top five scores with the DUALSHOCK 3 at PAX will be mentioned in Retro/Grade’s credits. It should be a great time, so be sure to stop by!

Did the super-ultra recent Xbox Live Gold subscription price hike announcement fill you with an unbridled, quiet rage? A number of retailers are capitalizing on your frustration by cutting the price of the 12-month subscription card to $40 -- a full Andrew Jackson less than the price that will be adopted in November.

Microsoft is offering a similar, apologetic renewal on Xbox.com -- however, that deal's only applicable for a single year. Some retailers, such as Newegg, will let you order as many of these discounted subscription cards as you want, which you could redeem to extend your Xbox Live Gold subscription until the end of recorded time. That's a bit of a commitment, but think of how thrifty you'll feel!
