Rock Band Aide, the premier fan site for Harmonix's soon-to-be-expanded rhythm game, reportedly uncovered a thrilling pop-up advertisement while watching MTV sister station Palladia -- one which revealed a September 7 release date for the eight-song Snoop Dogg track pack announced for Rock Band a year and a half ago. A year and a half! Why, that was long before the December release of Mr. Dogg's chart-topping "Malice N Wonderland." How the times have changed!

We certainly hope the advertisement turns out to be accurate, as we're starting to feel a little impatient for the playable raps of the Doggfather. Then again, when the tracks were first announced, Snoop Dogg was still legally banned from entering the UK, a decision which was only overturned this past March. We would have felt terrible if this Dogg embargo had somehow kept our overseas friends from getting their hands on the tracks.

[Thanks, Dirtybeefz!]

Uber Entertainment has announced that a big Monday Night Combat patch has entered testing and will soon be ready for certification. The title update is set to fix several issues with the game, notably the ability for players to damage Moneyball shields, and host migration problems. Several classes will receive tweaks as well, with the brunt going to the Support and Assassin. Devious Support players will be displeased to know they won't be able to hack through walls anymore, while Assassins will be happy to hear that grapples won't take as long to recharge after a whiff.

The updated version of MNC will be playable at PAX this week, and Uber is also bringing along plenty of swag, including the T-shirts above. Furthermore, Uber will soon release the first of three DLC packs for the game that will contain "new content, gameplay adjustments, and more bug fixes." According to Uber's Chandana "Eka" Ekanayake, the studio is "very invested" in the MNC community -- as such, the first DLC pack will be free.

Hopefully we'll hear more details about the DLC at PAX. In the meantime, head past the break for the full list of fixes in the title update.

In a move that no adoption agency would ever endorse, Playdom has basically killed off Acclaim just a few months after acquiring it, as Gamasutra reports. Acclaim's site says that all of its online games have been shut down as of August 26 and unused "Acclaim Coins" are being refunded. A couple of games, Kogamu and RockFREE, will continue to live on under the Playdom banner.

Playdom was bought a month ago by Disney which apparently had little interest in continuing to support Acclaim titles like 9Dragons. Though we can't claim to be big fans of any of their MMOs -- and can't really say we know anyone who fits that description -- it does seem kind of a jarring way to leave consumers.

Coming to Japan later this year is Malicious, a PSN exclusive that's composed entirely of boss battles! It's as if developer Alvion looked at the usual "platforming" and "puzzle solving" nonsense and just cut it. Considering this debut trailer, we don't think the studio made the wrong decision.

Though we'd love to offer you an extravagant trip to Fortune City today, you'll have to settle for a fully paid stop in the lovely, almost lively town of Still Creek. Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, a downloadable prologue to next month's full-blown zombie plague, introduces new protagonist and dedicated father Chuck Greene. He hasn't covered even a single war, but he's watched plenty of episodes of MacGyver. It helps!

If you want to throw your lot in with Chuck and win one of five Xbox Live Marketplace codes for Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, just follow the rules below.

To enter:
  • Leave a comment on this post and point out the safest place to be during a zombie outbreak. (We'll see you there.)
  • You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec).
  • Limit 1 entry per person.
  • This entry period ends at 3:00PM ET tomorrow, Tuesday, August 31.
  • At that time, we'll randomly select five winners to each receive a download code for Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (ARV $4.99).

Disney seems to have gotten the message that you guys like collector's editions. With toys in them. One day after the reveal of the Epic Mickey Collector's Edition, Disney Interactive has announced the Collector's Edition release of Tron: Evolution for PS3 and Xbox 360.

The package contains the game (obviously), along with a toy model Light Cycle by Sideshow Collectibles and a display case with a drawer for the game -- all for $130. We spent too long thinking about this and realized that since "real" light cycles are only supposed to exist in a virtual computer world, these toys are more tangible than the genuine article!

Disney has also announced a December 7 release date for the Collector's Edition and, of course, all other versions of Tron: Evolution game, including those for Wii, PSP, DS and PC.
