Though Rockstar missed its original June release date for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on iPad, the delay might have been worth it for a cool release date: September 9 (a.k.a. "9/9"), which goes very well with the $9.99 price. That's actually the same price as the iPhone version, and you get updated graphics for that (relatively) enormous iPad screen!

Like the iPhone version, Chinatown Wars HD includes a customizable "Independence Radio" station, so you can listen to your own music while fueling gang wars and looking for the most profitable drug deals, and then keep the music going when you play Grand Theft Auto.

Now this is totally cooler than discounts on PS3 service plans: next Tuesday, September 7, those with subscriptions to Sony's PlayStation Plus service will score an early download of the God of War: Ghost of Sparta demo. No word yet on a non-subscriber date for the demo. We'll keep you posted.

As the October 26 release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 draws near, LucasArts has confirmed a cut in its internal development staff -- much like it did just prior to the launch of the first Force Unleashed in 2008. Speaking to Gamasutra, the publisher presented the downsizing as "reorganizing its teams to better address the needs of the internal studio."

"Unfortunately, this means adjusting staffing," it said, adding, "LucasArts continues to be committed to creating a first-class internal studio and to fostering relationships with trusted external partners in order to deliver quality games that amaze and inspire fans." The cuts come less than six months after the resignation of LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez. His replacement, Paul Meegan, came onboard in June.

We're guessing that Splinter Cell director Clint Hocking, who just started at LucasArts in August, is staying put.

IGN reports that two big announcements have been made at a Microsoft Open House event in Australia. First and foremost, Kinect will launch in the land down under on November 18. The unit will be bundled with Kinect Adventures for AUD $199 (USD $181). A console bundle with Kinect (presumably the 4GB Xbox bundle we've seen before) will retail for AUD $449 (USD $407).

Furthermore, Foxtel's previously announced premium TV streaming service will launch in October. Pricing details for the service are expected closer to launch, though apparently it will be "fabulously affordable."

According to a report from Touch Arcade, the previously iPad-only Mirror's Edge will become available for purchase this evening on iPhone and iPod Touch, alongside Telltale's first "pilot program" release, Puzzle Agent. Given Faith's reduction in size from iPad to iPhone, the price for Mirror's Edge will be dropping accordingly from $9.99 to $4.99.

Puzzle Agent will also carry a $4.99 price point, staying in line with the pricing for other Telltale Games on iDevices. Both games are confirmed to be available via the iTunes App Store right now in some international territories and are expected to arrive in the US App Store around 11PM ET tonight.

Indie developer Perpetual FX has announced its first PlayStation Move title, due out this December on PSN: Top Hand Rodeo Tour. As you might imagine, the motion-controlled game tasks you with performing a number of acts of forceful animal husbandry, including calf roping and team roping. We imagine that actual bull riding will be involved in some manner as well, though we doubt the force feedback of the Move controller will adequately simulate the jostling provided by an angry, bucking man-cow.

A teaser trailer for the game explains the life of a titular Top Hand -- a lifestyle which requires unswerving courage, a tolerance for chapped hands and, we kid you not, a fondness for the smell of horse sweat. If you're not already totally yucked out, you can check out the trailer after the jump.
