In what has become one of our favorite annual traditions, Japanese mag Famitsu has already begun unfurling announcements intended for the Tokyo Game Show, which kicks off this Thursday, September 16. Sega already revealed Valkyria Chronicles 3 (inadvertently), and Famitsu has confirmed it as a retail and downloadable PSP game set to debut in Japan on January 27, 2011.

According to an Andriasang translation, Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be set in the same time period as the original PlayStation 3 game, but will follow a new cast of characters and a group dubbed "The Nameless." That's ... their name.

Sega of America has yet to announce an English version of this strategy RPG, possibly because the higher-ups in the company haven't read the latest Famitsu yet.

If you own an iOS device (and soon Android devices as well), Angry Birds is a proposition that's tough to refuse. The game is only $0.99 and has been routinely upgraded with free updates, let alone the fact that it's actually really fun. It's a good deal to be sure, but one imagines that it's a hard one for developer Rovio to maintain. Purchases have to slow at some point, and you can't keep offering free updates to a stagnant market, so what's an enterprising developer to do? Capitalize on your frustration, of course!

Anyone who has played Angry Birds knows the situation: You've played the same level for hours and nothing is working. According to Multiplayer, that won't be a problem anymore, because Rovio will soon be adding the Mighty Eagle to the list of available birds. As its name implies, this eagle is very mighty, so mighty that it can clear any level ... instantly. The catch is that players have to buy a can of sardines (with real money) in order to lure the eagle out.

Rovio hasn't divulged specific pricing information -- cost per can, how many sardines per can, etc. -- but we imagine many players will take the plunge. After all, you have to see that eagle at least once, right? The free updates are great and all but ... giant eagle. Check out a teaser trailer for the Mighty Eagle after the break.

Right between our Fallout 3 Vault Boy bobblehead and our BioShock Big Daddy statue is a gaping hole -- a gaping hole approximately three inches wide and seven inches tall. Wouldn't you know it, Sega of Europe just this morning announced a limited edition version of forthcoming Platinum-developed Vanquish with a seven inch tall statue of the game's main character, Sam Gideon.

The LE will be exclusive in the UK to retailer Zavvi (not to be confused with Navi or the Nav'i), whereas Game will carry it in France. The asking price is £54.95 ($85) in the UK, and no price has been listed by Game for the French release.

It seems like it's becoming common practice for video game companies to warn their games' illicit players that trouble is swiftly approaching in their direction. Blizzard recently updated the official Starcraft 2 site with a warning, which explicitly states that if a player "is found to be cheating or using hacks or modifications in any form, then as outlined in our end user license agreement, that player can be permanently banned from the game." Like, forever. For-ev-er.

Later in the update, Blizzard warns "suspensions and bans of players that have used or start using cheats and hacks will begin in the near future." If you're guilty of exercising some dubious winning strategies, you might want to go ahead and put the kibosh on that ASAP -- provided it's not already too late.

As you know, the PlayStation Move will be available this weekend, and to help give you a preview of the fun times ahead, we’ve set up “PlayStation HQ” locations in cities throughout the U.S. so you can get some hands-on time with the games before launch.

I haven’t had a chance to drop by and prop my feet on Kevin Butler’s desk, so I’m planning to rectify that this Friday. Why don’t you join me? I promise to bring along pizza, schwag, and even some PlayStation Move bundles and software to raffle off to those who visit.

The cool thing about these venues is, we’re granting hands-on time with some of these Move-enabled games that most people have never tried. Here’s the title list for Friday night’s meet-up:

  • LittleBigPlanet 2
  • Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition
  • The Shoot
  • Time Crisis: Razing Storm
  • Singstar Dance
  • Tumble
  • Sports Champions
  • The Fight: Lights Out

Plan to arrive early, as we only have space for about 200 friends. You can RSVP here.

The details:

Friday, September 17
Location: 658 Market Street, San Francisco
Time: 6 – 9 pm
RSVP: on Facebook

What do you like on your pizza?
Hope to see you there!
