We just received screenshots in advance of EA's TGS event -- we're literally sitting in the audience waiting for it right now -- and we've already spotted a bit of news. Included among the assets are screenshots of a game called My Garden for 3DS.

We'll learn more about the game when EA actually, you know, announces it, but it's pretty self-explanatory: a garden simulator -- in THREE DEE. Like a real garden, but without that noisome sunlight! And also with a cartoon tanuki guiding you. Our garden doesn't do that. At least, we don't think so.

Following the surprising success of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, City Interactive has released a new map pack for the game. The DLC packs in 5 new maps that allow players to "battle to control ruined oil-rigs or lie in wait to capture one of mystic stone towers." The DLC also increases shooting distance, which is probably a good thing for snipers. The new map pack is available now on Xbox Live Marketplace and Steam for $10.

Bad news for some of you who wanted to Remember Reach with some of your closest pals: Halo Reach's excellent co-op functionality requires an Xbox 360 hard drive. While that's unfortunate for all non-hard drive owning Xbox 360 gamers, it's especially worrisome for those of you who recently jumped into a 4GB Xbox 360 S. While they finally (quietly) released a hard drive for the new console, the $130 asking price is a hefty barrier to entry if you're looking for some co-op fun. Microsoft's official Halo: Reach FAQ page confirms the shortcoming:
Q1: The error "One or more players do not have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive. An Xbox 360 Hard Drive is required to play co-op on Xbox LIVE or system link" occurs when I try to play. Why?

A1: One or more players do not have a certified Xbox 360 hard drive attached to their Xbox 360 console. Some multiplayer aspects of Halo: Reach require an Xbox 360 certified hard drive.Nukezilla further confirms that USB memory sticks can't fill in for the absent storage and UK gamers will have to wait until later this month to get the £80 hard drive. Evidently, this limitation was present in Halo 3: ODST as well. Anyone affected by this issue?

[Thanks, Arafat!]

Much of the launch trailer for Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest attempts to instill potential players with fear of Sauron's expansive, evil army. That goal probably would have been easier to achieve if we didn't want to scoop each of them up in our arms, and pinch their adorable wittle cheeks.

If you read the May issue of Game Informer, this rumor might sound familiar: Ninja Theory, developer of PS3 exclusive Heavenly Sword and the promising Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, may be tasked with creating a new entry in Capcom's Devil May Cry franchise (last seen in 2008). Capcom has repeatedly expressed interest in leaving some of its established franchises in the hands of Western studios, with Bionic Commando and Dead Rising all finding homes outside of Japan.

The rumor has found its way back into circulation, thanks to a tweet and a trademark. According to Ninja Theory's Twitter account, a new game from the team is set to be announced at Tokyo Game Show, which opens on September 16th. Before that, however, Capcom will hold a press conference (a few hours away at the time of writing) and announce several new titles -- and "DMC" may be one of them.

According to Siliconera, Capcom has filed a wide-ranging trademark for "DMC," covering everything from game software to mobile phone ringtones. The trademark isn't enough to reveal a collusion between Capcom and Ninja Theory (let alone a new Devil May Cry game), but it raises an interesting question: Will Andy Serkis play Dante or Nero?

Famitsu has confirmed remastered PlayStation 3 versions of both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The PS2 classics will reportedly be released as two separate games in Japan. This differs from the leaked European retailer listing, which showed a single package featuring the two titles on one disc. Presumably, this will all be confirmed during tomorrow's Sony Japan press conference at the Tokyo Game Show.

The magazine doesn't offer any additional details on the remakes, but the God of War Collection should give us a good idea of what to expect. The horrible American box art for Ico (seen above) should also give us an idea of what to expect from the packaging.

We've got three Tokyo Game Show liveblogs coming in the next 24 hours, so we thought we'd list the URLs here so you can bookmark and come back.

Electronic Arts is the first to go, and we know it's going to be showing off the long-awaited Shinji Mikami, Suda 51 EA Partners horror project. But that's not it! There are supposedly "several all new game reveals and announcements," but we're not sure if that includes the Zelda-esque Tsumuji. It can't be a reveal if you've already announced the game, no?

  • Wednesday, 4am ET - New York
  • Wednesday, 1am PT - Los Angeles
Capcom is next and @CapcomEuro is guessing that we'll see "4 new games announced" and some new Marvel vs. Capcom 3 characters and we're guessing that its guesses are better than our guesses. We may be hearing about a new, Western-developed Devil May Cry, with Enslaved developer Ninja Theory behind the helm.

Lastly, Microsoft is bringing a little bit of the west with its Tokyo Game Show keynote titled "Xbox 360's Vision and 2010's Strategy." We don't want to be jerks, but we're going to spoil it for you: Kinect. That's it. That's the whole keynote.

PopCap and NCsoft are cooking up a new product that threatens to destroy productivity in Korea: "PopCap World." The games platform, launching later this year, will be operated by NCsoft and will feature 13 PopCap titles at launch. The games will be offered for free with "optional, premium paid elements to be added later." The initial sampling includes hits of Bejeweled and Plants Vs. PopCap's casual empire, originally built on addictive solo experiences, has expanded rapidly to include the addition of social features and Facebook games. And Korean psychiatrists thought "StarCraft addiction" was an issue ...
