Sweet, sweet Tokyo: the succulent ramen, the unparalleled electronics district, the red-hot video game rebirths.

If you’ve been following our Twitter, you know about Capcom’s biggest Tokyo Game Show announcement. Devil May Cry has been reborn as DmC in a soup-to-nuts re-imagining of the classic PS2 and PS3 action series. The results are undeniably striking, and are bound to trigger debate and discussion among series diehards for months to come. Judge for yourself — take a look at the debut video for DmC below.

In an international twist, British-based Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory is co-developing DmC with Capcom’s Japanese and US studios. The game is still shrouded in mystery, with few details relating to the setting (a strange urban environment with City 17 overtones a la Half Life 2), the combat mechanics (Dante’s sword appears to change shape at whim), the demonic enemies (marionette-like creatures not unlike those from the first game), or a release date.

That said, DmC brought a rousing round of applause from the crowd when it was unveiled at Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show event alongside Capcom’s other major announcement: Asura’s Wrath for PS3. What do you think?

Nothing quite says "awkward Japanese video game stereotypes" like the trailer for the just revealed Gal Gun. Uncomfortable camera shots of Japanese high school girls, bizarre moan-like noises coming from said high school girls, and, of course, tentacles abound in the game's debut trailer (found after the break).

The game itself is an on-rails shooter in which you control the hand of "the most popular guy in school," who's trying to find his dream girl by shooting every lady he sees with a heart-firing pistol. Gal Gun is being developed by Inti Creates -- the folks behind Mega Man 9 and 10 -- so don't expect winning over the ladies to be easy.

As Eurogamer points out, no release date has been given for the game, and there's been no indication as to the possibility of a US release. Our money's on "not likely."

A portion of a GamePeople review… …most impressive is the added sense of connection it adds to Wii-Sports Table Tennis. Holding a controller so similar to the real thing - you could actually play real table tennis with it - you are instantly in the right frame of mind to engage wit the game.

EA revealed Grasshopper Manufacture's Shadows of the Damned at its pre-TGS event earlier today -- and it was about Damned time. We cornered one of the "Video Game Band" members, composer Akira Yamaoka, to discuss his role creating music and sound for the "psychological action thriller." We also discuss his old gig at Konami, and how he feels about passing the Silent Hill torch (at least for now).

Joystiq: Were you excited to have your new music premiere in the trailer this evening?

Akira Yamaoka: Very exciting, yes.

Were you also nervous about showing your first project outside of Konami?

Not nervous. I was more excited about the project.

Previously, Ignition Entertainment had tentatively dated its super bizarre action game, El Shaddai, for "2010." Given the impending closure of that release window, the publisher has revised that time frame to "Spring 2011." The new date was revealed in a TGS preview of the game published by Famitsu.

Ignition has also released a grip of new images sure to impress those among us with a proclivity for naughty anime -- we especially covet the totally accidental upshirt shots (like this one). Ignition is said to be focusing its Tokyo Game Show efforts on El Shaddai, so expect to see more on the game in the coming days.

The evolution of the PlayStation Home platform continues this Thursday, September 16th with the release of our full-length mini-golf game: Dragon’s Green.

With nine holes of fantasy mini-golf – and four difficulty gauntlets – Dragon’s Green is among the richest and most robust gaming experiences available in PlayStation Home, coming complete with awe-inspiring graphics, ultra-addictive game play, and more than a handful of surprises we wouldn’t dare spoil for you here.

In the Dragon’s Green you can challenge up to three friends at a time and test your skills against dozens of enemy obstacles while uncovering secret challenges and unlocking special rewards. It’s truly an amazing experience possible only on the PlayStation Home platform. We caught up with Jeffrey Gullett, the Producer responsible for bringing you Dragon’s Green, to pick his brain regarding the inspiration behind this exciting new space. Here’s what he had to say:

There are lots of different mini-golf games out there. But what we wanted to do is to offer our community a new take on this classic game. Our community members had told us that they had wanted more ‘fantasy’ content for quite a while, so it seemed like the obvious choice to add a fantasy twist to this game.

I like to think of Dragon’s Green as a hybrid of mini-golf and pinball – it’s not just about sinking the ball in as few strokes possible. If you really want to succeed in Dragon’s Green, you’ll need to really explore the game and try different things. The game is designed to be played over and over again and still present players with different challenges. Dragon’s Green represents a big step forward in the type of gaming experiences you can expect in PlayStation Home. We hope you enjoy it!

Be sure to enter PlayStation Home this week and play the first three levels of Dragon’s Green for free. Then purchase the full version of the game and fulfill your destiny as a mini-golf warrior braving courses where danger lurks at every turn. While you are in-world, be sure to check out the update to the PlayStation Home Mall, where you can pick up some incredible new virtual items (such as the below pictured costumes). For the girls, we also have some unique new costumes coming your way this week – check the Latest Update tab in your Menu Pad (Start > Community > Latest Update) for a full list come Thursday morning.
