With TGS in full swing, it's only appropriate that this week's trio of Xbox Live Arcade releases comes courtesy of Japan. There's Sonic Adventure, a King of Fighters-branded shooter and a new twist on Space Invaders -- not to be confused with that other new twist on Space Invaders. Watch the latest episode of XBLA in Brief and see if any of these games deserves a closer look.

Sports Champions Week continues here on the Blog with the hack ‘n’ slash action of Gladiator Duel. In the Move demonstrations we’ve given at trade shows and Move meetups, Gladiator Duel has been the event that people have gravitated to immediately. And it’s easy to see why – bashing your friends in a head to head battle with one-to-one tracking is pretty awesome. Producer Jeremy Ray walks us through the features:

More than any other Sports Champions event, Gladiator Duel is the one that’s going to get that heart rate up and a bit of a sweat going. Tomorrow we’ll continue Sports Champions week with the comparatively mellow Disc Golf (a personal fave of mine).

Though comments on our posts regarding EA Sports' Online Pass program haven't been the sunniest reading material to pore over, Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown recently told the Deutsche Bank 2010 Technology Conference that reaction to the initiative hasn't exactly been apocalyptic, either.

"There's been no significant pushback from the user," Brown said of the program, which charges $10 for access to online modes in games acquired secondhand. "People know bandwidth isn't free, so the fact that we're diffusing online costs isn't seen as unreasonable." That's a pretty sensible outlook on the situation; though when a company's as large as EA, the definition of "significant" might be kind of obscure. We guess they didn't see our skywriting message over Pensacola Beach which read: "EA no pay for Onl. Pa." So what? We abbreviated -- it was $15 per letter! We're not made of money, guys.
