From Software has been very, very busy lately. To complement the announcement of the Kinect-exclusive Steel Batallion sequel is the reveal of the PS3-exclusive Project Dark. Coming in 2011, it's from the team responsible for Demon's Souls. While very few details were made available, it appears to have some kind of cooperative element.

It's also probably really difficult.

Team ICO director Fumito Ueda just took the stage during Sony's TGS presentation and confirmed the consistently leaked ICO / Shadow of the Colossus HD remakes coming to PS3. He didn't share many details - Are they sold separately in Japan? - but did reveal one new addition to the seminal PS2 titles that we didn't know about. In addition to HD graphics, both titles will support 3D on PlayStation 3.

When can you gladly hand over your hard-earned money to Sony? Ueda would only say "coming soon" but didn't share a date. In our dictionary, "soon" is a lot earlier than the April 2011 date most retailers have agreed upon.

A new entry in the Parasite Eve franchise has been long coming. The 3rd Birthday -- the first official sequel in the franchise since 1999 -- will be available in Japan at the very end of this year, on December 22nd. A US release is likely to follow some time in 2011. The third-person shooter arrives exclusively for PSP, joining the now-officially-announced Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Dissidia: Duodecim.

With so many high-profile Square Enix releases coming to PSP so close to each other, the company announced that there will be some kind of cross-promotional DLC across all three games. Specifics weren't mentioned, but you'll be able to unlock special costumes by owning multiple games.

Sony has announced another special edition PSP to coincide with the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Like previous special edition PSP systems, it will come branded with art. The black and gold system will be available in Japan on December 1st, just in time for the Christmas rush, with a 19800 yen price tag.

But, unlike other PSP bundles, this special edition will come with updated hardware. Unique to this iteration is an improved analog stick that should be more comfortable for extended Monster Hunter sessions. In addition, the hardware will come equipped with the (discontinued) Extended Life Battery. There will be a bulge in the system, but players will be able to game for hours longer than a standard PSP. Japanese gamers will be able to pre-order this system starting today.

During a live presentation at Sony's TGS booth happening now - it's only in Japanese, so no liveblog folks - Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano delivered a quick update on the PlayStation business, by means of some hardware sales numbers.

First, the PlayStation 3. Kawano revealed that Sony has sold 38 million PS3 units so far, with five million of those being in Japan. He specified that two million PS3 units were sold in Japan in the last year. Second was the PSP. Sony has sold 62 million PlayStation Portables globally, with 15 million of those being in Japan. Microsoft Game Studios unveiled five new Japanese partnerships during its Tokyo Game Show 2010 keynote today, each intended to "provide fun for users throughout the world." Takashi Sensui, general manager of Xbox in Japan, claimed the projects would "define the future of Xbox 360 and Kinect" -- a future that now promises Kinect-enabled Xbox Live Arcade games.

Out of the five new XBLA-exclusive games announced today, three will use Kinect: Haunt, a spooky adventure from Parappa the Rappa's Masaya Matsuura; Project D, a stylish new endeavor from Grasshopper Manufacture's Suda 51; and Project Draco, a Panzer Dragoon-esque flight game from Phantom Dust creator Yukio Futatsugi. These will join third-party Kinect games Child of Eden, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor and Rise of Nightmares in 2011.

Microsoft also revealed Fire-Pro Wrestling from Spike, and a new version of Radiant Silvergun from Treasure (much to the chagrin of eBay profiteers). Both are coming to XBLA in 2011.
