Why is Dave Grohl smiling? Well it might be because his band, the Foo Fighters, has just gotten a track pack on Guitar Hero for iPhone alongside Spoon. Realistically though, it's probably because he's very rich. And also a rock star.

Movie service Netflix is ready to serve the Great White North. Shacknews reporter Xav de Matos (former Joystiqer, still Canadian) notes the service is currently available on PS3 and Wii, with the Xbox 360 version rolling out later.
  • PS3: Available now. It's an application, so no disc is required (unlike the States). However, users have no ability to create an instant watch queue.
  • Wii: Available now. Disc from Netflix.ca required. Also, no ability to build an instant watch queue.
  • Xbox 360: Coming "soon."
The streaming-only option for Canada costs $7.99 a month and also includes access through PCs and Apple devices.

Things may have slowed down a tad since last week's Omega Update, but this week's batch of new content on the European PlayStation Store certainly holds its own. We've got Sonic Adventure, Deathspank 2: Electric Boogaloo and Blade Kitten, the "Liars and Cheats" pack for Red Dead Redemption, and a full Bob Marley album for Rock Band. There's a little something for just about everyone -- especially for PlayStation Plus subscribers, who get early access to the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow demo. Luckyyyyyyy.

So Good Old Games finally put an end to its wretched "we're pretending to close" stunt today. In a bizarre announcement, for which the company's leaders appeared in monk's robes, it was announced that the service will relaunch with a revamped website.

There were also plenty of (much-needed) apologies from the company for its hoax, which turned mourning for the site's demise into waves of vitriol from a jilted fan base.

Last year, the shop portion of the TGS show floor took up an entire hall by itself. This year, it was squeezed into the corner of one of the two halls housing game demos. That isn't to say that the downsized area didn't find ways to take money from obsessed fans, as there was certainly a lot to see and buy.

We hope our gallery helps you experience the thrill of buying a Solid Snake cell phone strap, without the cost or the crowds.

Faaaaaantastic! Dead Rising 2: Case West will feature everyone's favorite zombie-bashing photojournalist, practicing his craft by immortalizing the undead in still pictures. Developer Blue Castle Games' president, Rob Barrett, recently told Eurogamer that Frank West's return in the sequel's DLC epilogue would be accompanied by photography gameplay. Of course, West isn't there just to snap photos -- he'll join in the survival adventure co-op style.

Dead Rising 2's $5 prologue Case Zero has been successful for Capcom, selling over half a million downloads in two weeks. The core Dead Rising 2 game shambles to North American retail next week, on September 28th. It'll be interesting to see if the demo-consuming hoard is still ravenous for the full experience.

If you thought Trip and Monkey's journey to the west would be a tireless survival mission ... you're probably right. Thankfully, the stars of Enslaved can enjoy Pigsy's comic relief along the way. Namco Bandai describes Pigsy (pictured) as a "comical porcine character" -- the big dude with the rad belt buckle -- and has revealed that he will star in a post-launch DLC episode for the game.

The publisher offers few additional tidbits about the premium add-on, noting simply that it will be a side story requiring the retail game to play. More details are expected in "the coming months."

IGN claims to have received the technical specs for Nintendo's 3DS. According to the site, the handheld will use the DMP PICA200 GPU, but running at a slowed-down 166MHz, along with two ARM11 CPUs, each running at 266MHz. That's quite a bit less powerful than the Nvidia Tegra chips once rumored to be in the device. According to IGN, it will also have 1.5GB of flash memory for storage.

Okay, so IGN listed a bunch of names and some numbers -- along with the claim that "Numerous developers working on software for the platform have likened its graphical capabilities to current-generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, albeit on smaller, lower-resolution screens." But to find out what all those numbers mean, we turn to Digital Foundry. The parts "represent a massive step-up from the existing DSi," DF said, "while measuring up badly against the latest in smartphone technology." For example, the 64MB of RAM does not compare favorably to the iPhone 4's 512. However, DF notes that there's no iOS to hog resources, and in terms of the graphical capabilities, the relatively low resolution (compared to consoles) uses far less overhead.

DF notes that the motherboard originally sent to the FCC appeared to use a Tegra chip, suggesting that Nintendo has changed the design since then. "Quite why Nintendo decided to switch suppliers and go with DMP remains something of a mystery," the site says, "especially bearing in mind just how much more modern and capable the Tegra IP is compared to the much older PICA-200."

For those of you who don’t know what Netflix is, it’s the leading internet movie subscription service, which basically means that all of us Canadians can now watch an unlimited amount of movies and TV episodes for $7.99 a month.

Now your PlayStation 3 is able to stream from Netflix right to your TV, letting you chose from thousands of movie and TV episodes; watch as much as you want, whenever you want.

To get started simply look for the Netflix icon under the video icon in your XMB (cross media bar).

For all our friends in the US and current Netflix members, you’ll have to continue using the instant streaming disc for your PS3 system until the Netflix application icon becomes available for you in October.

For all our French speaking friends, Netflix intends to add French language capability over time.

Still not sure if Netflix is right for you and your PS3? Visit www.netflix.ca for your free one-month trial and see for yourself! With no late delivery fees, can your Wednesday get any better?
