As seen in the image above, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath's main character is getting a truckload or two of new polygons in Just Add Water's forthcoming remastered version of the game. How many more, specifically, you ask? Is 17,000 enough, roughly seven times more than the original Xbox version? Certainly is for us!

The difference is far more stunning when viewed on a larger scale than our header image will allow, so we'd suggest heading to JAW's dev blog and seeing for yourself. Interestingly, also on the dev blog is a handful of details regarding what specifically is being changed about Stranger's Wrath -- the inclusion of "Add in Trophies/Achievements" gives us the impression that the Stranger may be finding his up-ressed assets on an Xbox 360 at some point as well.

Super Meat Boy is a satire, it’s the ultimate amalgamation of every single video game cliche of the past 20 years wrapped up in a platformer formula that re-vitalizes, re-envisions and re-lives the retro classics we all hold so dear to our hearts. When we started development on Super Meat Boy we had one very [...]

I didn’t realize how many great games came out in-between 1986 and 1987. There were franchises started in those years that are continuing on to this very day! That’s quite an achievement to hang in there for so long. Looking back on a great year like this makes me realize how gaming [...]

While Crytek is known for their games, the company actually makes a good deal of money on non-game businesses. Gamasutra quizzed Crytek studio head Cevat Yerli about the company's rapid expansion from "developer of Far Cry" to becoming a massive, international organization that currently employs six game studios -- in locations as varied as the UK, Budapest, Frankfurt Kiev, Sofia, and Korea. CryEngine 3 licensing brings in some dough, but how else does Crytek maintain its operations?

"We have some other contracts going on as well for some other non-game industries," Yerli explained. "We have a lot of contracts going on from gas and oil companies, General Electric, all the way to SOCOM. We have a lot of military companies working with our technology, in fact." According to Yerli, Crytek works on "whatever" these partners want, utilizing their tech know-how to create simulations. Considering how impressive CryEngine looks on a home PC, we're curious to know what Crytek can pull off on a military-grade super-computer. The experience would probably shatter our perception of reality.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review… From the shrunken playing field to the turn-on-a-dime physics, it’s clear that EveryDay Soccer is trying to channel the success of Super Mario Strikers, but its inconsistent controls, lack of options and so-so gameplay hinder it from replicating the fast-paced and accessible gameplay that made Mario’s outing so successful. There are a crazy amount of games coming out over the next few weeks (and, well, months), so I’m feverishly trying to finish up my unbeaten campaigns. With any luck, I’ll finish up Mafia II today (loving the story and voice acting in that one) in between football watching and PSP sessions of Valkyria Chronicles II.

Rey will be by with the full list of upcoming PS3, PSP, and PSN games later this afternoon. What have you been playing this weekend?

You wouldn't expect to walk into an arcade and find a cabinet dedicated to Every Day the Same Dream, Molleindustria's browser game about white-collar malaise. If you happen to be in Austin, TX this weekend, you can experience this particular anomaly for yourself, along with refurbished arcade machines housing Monaco, Nidhogg, Norrland, Enviro-Bear 2000 and more.

These unique machines are just part of the Fantastic Arcade event within the Fantastic Fest film festival -- an event that also includes panel discussions, tournaments, and demos of Microsoft's upcoming XBLA Game Feast titles. We snapped some pictures of the handcrafted indie arcade for those of you who couldn't be there. Find them in our Fantastic gallery.

In a recent interview with the DS aficionados of Tiny Cartridge, Nicalis' Tyrone Rodriguez dropped a few details about the upcoming DSiWare port of Studio Pixel's delightful action-platformer, Cave Story. He explained that while the portable version will have some of the new features added in the WiiWare version launched earlier this year, Nicalis "kept it relatively lean in comparison mainly because this is more a perfect port of the original game." To that effect, there won't be any touch-screen controls -- instead, the bottom screen will simply display dialogue, player inventory and the world map.

Rodriguez couldn't confirm any specifics on pricing or a release date, but said "I would love to have this out before Halloween," later adding "I'd be surprised if it isn't released before the end of the year." He also references an upcoming update for the WiiWare version of the game, which will "address a game-breaking bug and a ton of other fan-requested fixes." For more details on the future of the cavernous indie hit, check out the full interview on Tiny Cartridge.
